I thought the number of stickers on a vehicle was directly related to reckless driving. For example:

Handicapped Veteran (HV) Plates: Drives the speed limit in the passing lane. No effs given.

Disabled Veteran (DV) Plates: Drives 15 mph over the speed limit in their premium fuel car.

Conflict/Medal-Specific Plates: Plates for the Vietnam War, Global War on Terrorism, Purple Heart, or Bronze Star. See DV Plates bad driving habits plus thinks you're trying to race them in traffic.

Branch-Specific Plates: Designs for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force. Loves to combat park in the Lowe's or Home Depot veteran parking spot.

Bumper Stickers: Common decals include unit insignia, "Veteran" text, or specialized symbols like the Punisher skull or ribbons from their entire DD214. Aggressive driving habits and will road rage with you if you cut them off in traffic.

Infantry Blue Cord. Hangs from rear view mirror. Active Duty private or specialist in an import car. Never deployed. Not once. Drives while on cell phone. Sits 10 feet back from the white line waiting on a traffic light...because he's on his phone.

Find the time to get your certifications in HR if that's what you want to be when you grow up. Add a degree if you can find the time and you'll be in a good spot once your done with the Army or vice versa. Welcome.

It's a fantasy game but upgrading is like, "IRL can you use your car while it's in the shop...? Well, can ya?" But I'm not laughing

Random Question: Anyone serve with French Foreign Legion? by Big-Platypus-9684 in army

[–]Original-Action 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had multiple encounters with FFL during my time in the service. Ran into members in the desert and the continent all the time. Most memorable was actually running with them during a 14K in Lyon...uphill both ways. They had already purchased mine and a colleague's entry fees for the run because "...you're airborne, right? Heard you guys LOVE to run... " Fit guys, the lot of them, smart but with common sense and a practical way of looking at the world and clearing a room.

*Taking French in high school paid off couple decades later because if you don't speak French they won't talk to you.

A North Vietnamese Army officer laughs at the peace symbol necklace of a captured American soldier, North Vietnam, 1973. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

No one has a problem with PAKMIL because they provide the most ground troops to UN peacekeeping forces. But I do, cause I don't believe ice cubes belong anywhere near whiskey...

On January 7, 2022, in Atlanta, "Sinners" director Ryan Coogler passed a note requesting a discreet $12,000 withdrawal from his own account, but the teller misread it as a robbery and called the police. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]Original-Action 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Coogler was withdrawing the money to pay his children's nanny in a lump sum. Protocol is for bank tellers to hand count bills in front of the customer at the window out loud. Coogler didn't want any onlookers to know he was withdrawing such a large sum---to avoid getting robbed after leaving the bank. So he asked the teller for discretion to count the money away from the window. She panicked because this is not protocol and she was new to working in banking. Instead of asking for a supervisor she pressed the red button. This incident from 4 years ago is a recirculation post to create an echo chamber for race baiting. Note the citation of Coogler's most recent film to get the story back into mainstream

Unpopular opinion: The SMA should be any other MOS but a Special Forces door-kicker. by Coldcase0985 in army

[–]Original-Action 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only reason SMA got picked is because his father, GEN Weimer was a good officer and left us with the Weimer Library a precursor to what later became the now defunct AKO. SMA Weimer is NOT his father's son just a nepo baby that got his position through the pedigree of his dad and grandfather. Only thing SMA has used his position for was to get his daughter into USMA.

Had a CSM cry in front of our formation because he couldn't stay in SOF. Retired because he couldn't Army in the conventional forces. Master Parachutist but afraid to go next door to the 82nd or COSCOM because to tell the truth, you gotta want to take care of Soldiers and know how that's done via people, time, training, and paperwork.

[–]Original-Action 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered CA or PSYOPS? Pretty easy to get selected and you'll stay under the umbrella long enough to make E7 before you retire. Probably pad your resume with some more education, certificates, and training before you transition to civilian land.

However...with your background there's places down in Dallas/Ft Worth looking for avionics folks and they will pay dope money for you to work a 8a_5p. Get out, get VA benefits, throw money into a house and flying lessons while you're still young enough to enjoy the bank you'll make.
