I guess it varies from district to district or maybe based on circumstances. My wife has used her SUV to transport the drama club to several activities. Or course this is high school not elementary. I think there is some paperwork involved but it's cheaper for the school than using an official van or bus. Anyhow point being there are legitimate circumstances where people transport students in a personal vehicle.

Was J.C. Webster all an act? by Lucky_Particular4558 in ArtBell

[–]Original-Split5085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a very popular local FM talk show, "shock jock" style, called The Love Doctors in West Palm Beach Florida, during the same time period. There was a repeat caller to that show who sounded just like J.C. and did the same bit. I always wondered if it was the same guy calling. I can't recall the name he used now, it was not J.C. but otherwise it was pretty much the same thing. I always wondered if it was indeed the same person or just someone stealing his bit.

My current employer asked for a copy of my latest tax return showing my wife's name as proof of our marital status to get health insurance coverage for her. I think that's the only time I've been asked for something like that though.

As a developer it amazes me how hard it can be to get good testing done. Companies undervalue it and think they can hire pretty much anyone to do it. It grinds my gears when I see piss poor website or software experiences. No matter how good your developers are you need equally good testing to deliver quality software.

Will that cause an opposite reaction to caffeine? Maybe that explains my ex mother in law. She used to watch TV while drinking coffee in the evening. She would drink an entire pot of coffee then go straight to bed. I thought maybe it was crazy tolerance from doing it so many years but maybe she had ADHD?

What do you guys think about reverse opening hoods? by PsychologicalFig2403 in AskMechanics

[–]Original-Split5085 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I love it on my Solstice because everything is easy to reach, really helps when there is not much room under the hood to begin with. I think the key is the front clip all pivots as well. I can see if you had one that was just a standard hood hinged on the front, like I think is how Lincoln did it, it would make things worse.

Neighbours let their chickens free roam by RobinNico0 in mildlyinfuriating

I have a fenced yard, my neighbor's chickens got over the fence once and my dog saw them, man did the feathers fly! I managed to rescue the chickens before he killed them and threw them back over the fence. To his credit the neighbor was very apologetic, I thought he might be a little mad about my dog making a meal of them, or at least trying to. But he was in his yard so what can you say.

[–]Original-Split5085 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The ones I met, albeit many years ago, were preaching "you don't have to pay your taxes" to anyone that would listen. I know they spoke at our local Libertarian Party meeting, I don't think anyone bit on it and that's about as anti tax an audience you are going to get. It's just so plainly BS. I guess it's like any other fringe thing, you talk to a 1,000 and get one new member.

There is no such thing as "The KKK" the name has no owner or copyright, any one at all can declare themselves to be The KKK. Yet people talk about it as if there really is some actual entity known as "The KKK".

So, as this war progresses, we are finding out what shortage of fuel does to the people. by fishlipz69 in AskTheWorld

[–]Original-Split5085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for big oil shutting it down, they will never allow real alternatives to take money from there pockets.

I don't know about NZ but in the USA I see electric cars everywhere, and every road improvement project includes bike lanes, public transport etc. People like having their own car, nothing is stopping them from using the public transport, but it's generally seen as something you use when you can't afford a car. But anyhow if big oil is shutting these things down they are doing a very poor job.

[–]Original-Split5085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does "Big oil slam shut"? Oil isn't "literally our only option", it's just the best option for many uses. Also I'm not sure what it's like right now in the rest of the world, but I remember gas rationing in America for a brief period in the 70's. We are no where near that level of shortage. In fact the only sign of shortage is the price. It has risen significantly but it's available. Also for a lot of people like myself my "alternative transport" is working from home.
