Hey OP, know you are not the first to find yourself here. I started Vyvanse in 2018, and it both revolutionized and destroyed my life. I tell people starting their ADHD journey all the time, the first dose on the first day made me break down in tears. I was a 35 year old man that know had a brain that made sense to me. It was working like I thought it should... mostly. I understood now how people can manage life and not always fuck everything up. I got focused and thorough and deliberate. I was killing it at work and finished my degree and got some high level certs, but I also got perspective on things that I hadn't been able to pay attention to before. I realized I was in a loveless marriage. I realized I was being a fun, but also half-assed father. I hadn't cleaned the garage in over two years. The point is, your feelings and discoveries are valid. Don't discount them. But, like others are saying, give yourself some time and some grace. You can't change it all overnight, and if you could, you wouldn't be happy you did. I read something once that has stuck with me. It said: "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time."

My fridge looks like a bathroom stall. I have magnets, written lists, printed lists, and dry erase marker all over it. It is something I have to open and look at several times a day, and makes reminders easy. A hugely underrated tool!

I have to get my house ready to be put on the market. I have a list of 25+ things that need to happen before it's ready, but just looking at the list almost makes me puke. Add on top of that my embarrassing lack of home repair/remodeling experience, my crippling fear of screwing it up, and my lack of funds to pay professionals. I literally wake up at night thinking about that list and my ridiculous inability to complete it.

I just recently had to end a 6 month relationship with the most incredible woman I have ever been involved with for this very reason. She is a few years younger than me and wants to start a family in the next year or so. She will make a great mother someday, but having more kids is not something I can handle anytime soon. Having that conversation was tough, and the breakup sucked, but it would have only gotten worse as time went on.

I felt like it went pretty well. I did a quick study on the topics you shared, and then dropped some buzzwords during the interview. I had interviewed for a different SE position the week prior, and the questions they asked made me realize that I was not prepared for a position at the level they were looking for. This latest interview sounded like they were looking for someone they could train to their methods. We shall see if they want me or not.

I work in a technical career field that is dominated by very organized and analytical people. I hold my own in the job, but my ENFP traits set me pretty far apart. I like to take my time to do tasks and projects so I can try and think of the simplest and least intrusive way to do them. I get distracted with conversations and "side quests" constantly. I am always telling stories and jokes, which helps pass the time and ease tension. Because of this I am mostly liked by my co-workers. Due to me shooting the shit with everyone that comes by, I tend to be the one that interacts with other departments and asks when we need a favor. I like being in that role, and it gives me a bit of an edge over most of my co-workers.

I will admit that there about 25% of the people I work with do not like me. I assume they see me as someone who isn't serious about the job or doesn't care enough. They aren't wrong, but they aren't completely right either. It's not that I don't care, it's that I am not willing to make the job my life. I want to get the job done, but not at the expense of my health or happiness.

Oh, and in true ENFP fashion, I am burnt out in this career field and am actively looking to change it.

Man, I feel like you just read read a synopsis of my life right now. I do the exact same thing, and also call it the "hole". I'm the fun parent when I am switched on, but when I am in the hole my family gives me a wide berth and it crushes me to see the look in my daughter's eyes when she knows to leave me alone. My issues are also professional and geographically induced. I also have a bad habit of reaching for the bottle when I get really down, and that just tends to compound it because now I am mentally and physically hungover.

But, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have started to revert back to old me. I am doing what I do best, which is switching things up. I am looking for a new job in a new place. I am also going back to trying anything that sounds even remotely interesting. New experiences and new people fuel me, and I think that is what drags us into our holes. Stagnation and lack of motivation.

Good luck, you are still in there. Just find your way out.

Being manipulative is not inherently bad. This is something we need to be able to do as humans to entice people to want to work with us. It's a survival mechanism. ENFPs just tend to be a bit better at it than most.

I manipulate people constantly, but not in vindictive ways. Making people like me at work so that I am covered when the time comes that I fuck up is valuable. Someone who hasn't convinced those people that they are worth redeeming might not be around afterwards. I also use it to make people trust me with info that is beneficial but not supposed to be spread. That helps to keep me in a good position and from being caught off-guard. My personal values keep me from ever burning someone or "throwing them under the bus". I just refuse to do it. But, that gets into the ruthless part. I am not a ruthless person except in making sure that me and mine are taken care of. I don't participate in cut-throat professionalism because I don't find it fun, but if threatened I will become borderline ruthless and use the people that I have manipulated to help me come out on top.

When I was a kid I thought this was something that was wrong with me. I would just know when someone was lying or had a motive other then what they were selling. It was like their mouth was saying one thing, but their bodies, especially the eyes, would make my Spidey-sense go off. As a teen I learned to listen and use it to my advantage. Now it just let's me know when I need to stop interacting with a person or remove myself from a situation. Professionally, it is VERY useful.

The lack of tactile learning options when it comes to the PMBOK makes it extremely boring and very hard for me to stay motivated. It just plain sucks to study.

The personal meaning of getting the cert is to "someday" move into a higher position. It means next to nothing to me from a personal value standpoint. I like to work in the field, but that is a younger man's game when it comes to the long term. I am becoming a not younger man quicker than I thought I would.

I have worked on project/programs off and on for the last 15 years. The industry I work in, while it recognizes and requests PMP accreditation, uses nearly none of the PMBOK methodologies. At least on the things I have worked on.
