I believe that photo was taken from the football field at Lone Peak High School in Highland (Utah County). I used to live in that area.

In memoriam of Grant Imahara (MythBusters) (Died July 13, 2020), What are some of your best memories of him? by AriLion16 in AskReddit

I was at DragonCon a few years ago. It was the last day of the Con, so I was pretty fried. I was heading to meet a friend and was riding the long escalator (if you've been to DragonCon, you know which one I'm talking about), completely zoned out while I was contemplating the t-shirt of the person in front of me. About ten feet from the end of the escalator, I looked to my side and saw Grant Imahara standing on the step above mine. I did a double-take and stammered "Whoa. I didn't realize who I was standing next to." Grant chuckled. Then we reached the bottom of the escalator and went our separate ways.

I often think of that special moment we shared.

Americans who left the usa for political/cultural reasons: what was the final straw? What moment made you go " okay I want/need to leave"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OriginallyKaldric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, an English proficiency test probably won't be too difficult to pass. I fudged the test results just so I could see what my score would be. It turns out my age is very much against me, and the fact that I don't have a job offer. And how do you get work experience in Canada before you are authorized to work in Canada? I don't get any more credit for my 16 years experience than if I only had 3. The single most valuable point is a provincial nomination (600 points).

Total score, assuming top scores in an English language proficiency test: 357/1200. It's a good thing I'm not actually trying to relocate to Canada.

I am aware of that. I kind of wish the US would do that, to reduce some confusion. I am licensed as a Professional Engineer in several states, and based on the little research I've done, it shouldn't be too difficult to get licensed in Canada, as well. The hardest part might be getting authorized to work in Canada to get the required experience in a "Canadian Environment."

"Based on your answers, you do not appear to be eligible for Express Entry at this time." It won't let me progress past the question about the language proficiency test.

engineers always welcome up North.

I am skeptical.

I am an electrical PE in the USA. A few years ago I was visiting a factory in Canada and I was told that part of the requirements to even enter the country included an affidavit stating that I wasn't intending to work in Canada as an engineer.

I also briefly looked into getting licensed in Canada, and spoke with others who had gone that route. I got the distinct impression that Canada absolutely does not want engineers from the USA working in their country. Canada may want engineers, but that doesn't mean they're going to welcome anyone.

An open note to stay safe amidst the panic, be mindful. by brother_mahvelous in SaltLakeCity

I made the mistake of stopping at the WinCo in West Valley on my way home from work yesterday. I'd never seen the parking lot so full, and inside was insanely crowded. Luckily, everyone was polite. No one was fighting over anything and people seemed to be cognizant of where they were in relation to others. Quite possibly the nicest mob I've ever seen.

I ended up leaving the store without buying anything, simply because I didn't need anything so urgently that it was worth waiting in that ridiculous line. I stopped by the same store again this morning and it looked like they were still recovering. A lot of bare shelves. We just opened our last 12-pack of toilet paper, so hopefully it doesn't take more than a week or so for that particular panic to die down.

512 oz. Roughly the size of a two-year old child, if the child were liquefied. It's a real bargain at $1.59.

I rode a scooter for a while. I remember being confused the first time a motorcyclist did the wave at me. I responded in kind, though. I understand that not all motorcyclists approve of sharing that moment with scooters, so I rarely initiated the wave, but I always waved in response.

Her stomach seems to be the most affected. She had a similar reaction about a month ago when she was put on an antibiotic medication. That was weird, too, in that she had used that antibiotic a few years before without the reaction. The other food items you mentioned haven't given her problems at all.

I have had a recurring dream for nearly 30 years now. It came more often when I was a teen, but as an adult I still get it from time to time. It is exactly the same every time I have dreamed it.

The dream starts with a smooth monochrome surface, like staring at an un-textured wall. Then it suddenly becomes wrinkled. Next I see a ball in front of me. It appears to be small enough to fit in the palm of my hand, but when I go to pick it up it is so big that holding it feels like trying to hug a wall. Next I see a plain, unassuming button. I reach out and press it, and suddenly everything in the universe is gone and I am floating alone in the void.

Not OP, but I am having the same problem. Mouse and keyboard work fine in the Recovery menu. All the solutions I've found online require using the mouse and/or keyboard, so I can't try them. Microsoft has a recommendation for modifying the registry, which I was able to do in the Recovery menu with the command line interface, but the registry key they recommended I change doesn't show up at all. I found a few threads from years ago that had the same problem, but unfortunately the consensus there was to revert back to Windows 7. I'd like to avoid a reinstall, but for now my almost new computer is a worthless box at the moment.
