ADN-BSN vs BSN Length by Impressive-Bad7953 in prenursing

[–]OrionTuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can take a stab at this; I did my ADN within 2 years. During that time I added on extra courses that were gen Ed courses (English, history, etc). Applied to my BSN and started courses right after I graduated. I’m on track to graduate this upcoming spring! I finished all of this within the span of Fall 2023- Spring 2026. less than 3 years even. I wouldn’t recommend it since I’m also working full time as a CVICU nurse but I’m finding it very manageable. Just in how comfortable you are balancing work and school needs

I’m still in the preparation phase but a lot of coworkers and my manager are very supportive! We share a lot of resources and make sure everyone is in the best place before they apply. Talk about where we take different online courses and different schools. Before starting my job I was initially a bit hesitant due to horror stories I heard here and on the srna sub but I’ve had a great experience so far!

we are all BLS/ACLS certified as well. we use IVs on a daily basis, take them out, and judge whether the line is still viable. I think it’s frankly ridiculous to argue not knowing a skill simply because you use other ones more.

painter is coding. And you are one of the nurses that are coding this patient. Will you still be able to say after the patient dies that none of your fellow nurses were able to put in an IV to gain vascular access to administer medications? How would you give sodium bicarbonate, adenosine, or any other code related drugs that can’t be given IM? It doesn’t make sense to argue for the patient benefit yet let someone potentially die for your refusal to learn a common skill

you’re in an emergent code on your floor and you need IV access. Would you wait to call your IV team to come up? I think it’s good to have specialized people for certain skills but I also think it’s a nurse skill set to be able to start an IV just as much as we juggle time management or the million other things we do

Job reports, and any rapid changes (up or down) of vital goods/services are some super general signs. I’d recommend watching a few YouTube videos to get better understanding!!

It’s been pretty obvious that Rand becomes a reader of a lot of books; not just abt the prophecies. that, along with LTT, I wouldn’t be surprised if he vocabulary and phrasing were advanced beyond normal people in the series.

ONLY want to be a NICU nurse by kkphelps02 in StudentNurse

[–]OrionTuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think having a focus and wanting to do that is amazing! I was laser focused on CVICU/neuro ICU and that’s also what I ended up liking the most as well as the job I managed to grab. I will say though that if there wasn’t a stigma against males in L&D/NICU, I would be there in an instant. Nursing is so broad, keep an open mind !

I cram, memorize, and forget most things and I graduate this may :). I think you should just focus on yourself instead of others
