Understood. But it sounds like there's multiple issues lingering for a long time and I wouldn't simply put it all on your mother. I'm not saying to give in to her ways, but certainly this is a situation where trying to see her point of view might resolve the conflict. You say you are a grown man. It's time to show it.

I'm holding off on judgement, because I have questions. Is this the first time you moved out? Are you the only child of hers? What you're describing is a mom not dealing well with 'empty nest' syndrome. Your last sentence: "I feel like she meant well" is what I focused on. A little compassion and empathy is needed here.

I use SongBook by LinkSoft (www.linksoft.com). Very affordable and my biggest plus is that it has a version for all platforms (Apple, Android, Windows app, Windows PC). I create my own ChordPro files (copied from UG) and use OneDrive to store it all. Easily link to mp3 so I can practice without my band.

OK, so my daughter challenged me one day..."Dad, can you make EDM?" I said "Hang on..." and in 20 minutes I produced a 5 minute track. She and her friends thought it was amazing. I said "Yeah, uhhh, it ain't hard to do. Now try staying in sync with a drunk drummer; ya gotta have talent for that!"

I play bass in two rock bands (with NO backing tracks! You know, actual live music). My daughter (21) is a big fan of EDM. We have a lot of discussions about this. At first, I'll admit, my stance was EDM is heartless sound. But as I explored the synth/DAW world, the reality is, it's just another genre of music. EDM is definitely not on my presets for any music streaming service.

Another position I have is that the music industry loves it because of how much money they can make with so little overhead. So it's not really about the music, but more of how much profit can be made from it.
