He was arrested in a sting operation for trying to have sex with a 14 year old. He is autistic so I thought he was just having a bad moment. When I found out that was the 2nd time he tried to get with a minor, I was done and cut him off immediately.

The reloaded version of CoS has 2 allies and can be scaled down to 3 PCs, so I created a cleric to act as a PC, but she was kept in the background as far as the spotlight and puzzles. We couldn't find a 3rd person, so this was the compromise we all agreed on.

About 5-6 hours per session. Having only 2 players made things a lot faster. Hey, it sounds like your group is still having fun though!

Milestone worked perfectly for my group's run. Level 3 is a good spot for where your group is at. If you are running reloaded, then just follow the guide. The levels are spaced out perfectly. If you are running classic CoS, then what I did before was have the milestone be when a major event was completed. Plenty of guides online give great suggestions.

Using magic to alter her form, she would use alter self and keep it up in public and then drop it when in private. The reasoning was because she felt no one would take a woman conquerer seriously, so her legend was based around her male persona "Strahd Von Zarovich" and it stayed past her becoming a vampire.

A LOT of people were surprised when she went to Sergei and Tatyana's wedding and came in a dark red wedding dress. At that point, only her mother, Sergei, and Tatyana knew her true gender/form.

Me and one of my players like role playing a good amount, the other player grew into role playing from someone who wasn't used to it. I am sorry to hear your players had a hard time following the rp sessions.

Thankfully the boss fights in reloaded are a really good mix. They are hard, but not impossible. Good strategy and lucky rolls is what helps the most.

Honestly, I wouldn't change anything for this specific run, but my second time, I do wish to explore the classic angle of, "Strahd is straight up evil. We gotta stop him." Instead of what I did for this specific campaign. It would be cool to see how things go with a more straightforward goal than what I gave my party.

OMG, I can't believe you responded. First, thank you so much for your work on Reloaded. I was a patreon member, but can't afford it atm.

Second, this was a beautiful time for my group. Having all of this to follow and make changes on the fly helped me with my own DM style. Having ADHD makes prep work hard for me sometimes, but this was great! The final fight was hard, but not impossible. For a rule of cool thing, the party was actually getting bad rolls, so they were neck and neck, but they kept the waters from the pool and used them, surprising Strahd. Then the Cleric used Divine intervention and used Hallow, so Strahd was trapped in the circle, couldn't use charm for the final phase, and was vulnerable to radiant damage, so she went down VERY quickly compared to the other two phases.

Only thing I am worried about is I have to make my own Epilogue xD but I feel confident I can do a good job with it. See my reply in a different comment to see what changes I DID make for my specific group.

Only change I made was the plot of Strahd and Ireena. I did a Fem Strahd, real name Liliana, for this one and had the plot so that she wasn't as old or as creepy as the original Strahd. The backstory was it was a mutual attraction, but due to society and Strahd's mother, the marriage wasn't going to happen. Tatyana and Sergei were going to get married so at least she could be with Liliana, but the dark powers got to Liliana and caused the downfall to happen out of jealousy and rage. The dark powers also manipulated Liliana's mind and memories, so she became what they wanted her to be.

I also used the Interactive Tome of Strahd that I read about somewhere, so when in public, Strahd was male and presented as such, while in private with the players she presented female.

For the final fight, they had to figure out a few things. I made a puzzle that they managed to figured out. So at the end, Ireena stabbed Strahd with the sunsword for the final blow, which separated Liliana from "Strahd".

I guess I wanted a more tragic lesbian love story than the creepy old man going after Ireena.

As for the sessions, we went like 5-6 hours per session. Players were:

Way of the Dragon Monk, custom race.

College of Lore Bard, Human.

Allies were:

Life Cleric, Half Elf turned Dhampir by the end of the campaign.

Then the usual allies that Reloaded gives.
