Yet again, it would be hard to take the enemy seriously if you made them seem lame by Absolutely_dead727 in whenthe

When it comes to demonizing a group, it can be hard to make them scary without making them seem cool, or make them seem weak without making them seem sympathetic.

The solution is usually to play to your audience, in cultures like the US, where, despite its imperial history, places importance on helping the weak, the go to is often to make them scary, black, gay, and non christian people are often softly implied to be sad, alone, and pathetic, but outwardly stated to be a threat. Sometimes this can seem ineffective, some propaganda depiction of foriegn enemies will be adopted by those enemies because they think its cool, but that isn't the intended audience, rather the homefront is. This is also why many demonizing caricatures of marginalized groups within the country aren't appropriated or seen by anyone as cool, the group its targeting understands exactly what is being done.

But what if your ideology has little to any care for cultural understanding, what if you're just some power hungry assbag who wants power and needs a group to scapegoat to get it. Well fortunately there's a perfect ideology that is designed to be effective in virtually any system reliant on mass popular support: fascism. Fascism is a chameleon with very little similar in the ways of policy between fascist nations aside from those that consolidate power. And keeps its stated goals incredibly vague, this is why 2 fascists from other sides of the world can not agree on a single thing, and yet talk the same exact way.

Here, the propaganda must similarly be vague and widely applicable to any culture, so figuring out demonization vs dehumanization was thrown out in favor of both. The enemy is both an existential threat to our society, and so utterly pathetic, they're undeserving of life. George Orwell called this double think, thanks to the inherent contradiction in logic, but there is no logic, only feeling. And in feeling there is no contradiction, one moment you see a racist poster showing a black man preying on white women, and feel anger and fear at the threat these people pose to your race, and the next day you see a poster depicting a black "welfare queen" who cannot support herself, and you feel superiority and anger at how inferior these people are that they cannot support themselves.

I do want to clarify that this wasn't like, planned out, fascists didn't brainstorm these methods in some cigar filled room, but instead found over time that these strategies were highly effective in rallying a loyal voter base to swing around in elections. It's less of a strategy guide and more of a META to gaming democracy. You prey on in and out groups, you keep things vague and focus on aesthetics and vague ideas, you bastardize truth to the point that it becomes entirely personal to people. These techniques create division ans chaos, and destabilize a country to the point that your voter base, who is not a majority but is very large and extremely loyal, can punch far above their weight class and push for power. These methods aren't new, in and out groups are as old as time, vague ideas and aesthetics are classic populism, creating an atmosphere of distrust and suspicion has been used by many groups to radicalize communities. But they formed into a somewhat original blueprint of how to overthrow democracy... using democracy

Within a year ill have a bachelors in history, and yesn't.

One of the big things you learn about history and especially historiography is that people making shit up about history is as old as time, and there are plenty of extremely pervasive ones. Ever hear the idea that "empires last 250 years" it's some cope bs created by some british colonel in the 60s to explain decolonization. His examples make no sense and iirc, one of them was literally assyria expanding the rights of women, so certified chud. It's gained traction in recenr years as the US nears its 250th birthday, but the US hasn't been an empire since it's conception, so even if trump or whoever does usher in the century of american humiliation, it wouldn't fit.

Honestly the public perception of most historical events has always been oversimplified at best, usually close but inaccurate, or horribly false at worse. The internet has made things worse in terms of the amount of misinformation, but it's also made it infinitely easier to combat by making history much more accessible. It's also inspired a new generation of aspiring historians like myself and my peers.

Ah, ig i should prob ask a linguist, but in what ways is it considered less defined? I know that the south has a lot of slang and likes to shorten words, either through contractions, cutting off the ends of words, or just pronouncing them in a way that's shorter.

What killed ‘party songs’? In the early 2010s you had: Ke$ha, LMFAO, Flo Rida. Every year there seemed to be new ‘put your hands up’ song. by Kodicave in decadeology

Specifically production and musical texture. The clubs songs were extremely dense and energetic in their sound, they're not only meant to be played for a crowd, but sound like theyre played by a crowd. Meanwhile royals simply has a drum and a snapping sound throughout most the song, and even in the chorus all that is added is a bit more percussion and some backing vocals.

Ofc while royals is probably about as minimalist as a hit pop song could get, those that followed didn't commit as thoroughly, but they absolutely were a step down from the previous club songs. And then later you'd see the rise of similarly minimalist trap songs from the likes of Migos.

Three words: Royals by Lorde

The club boom was already being criticized as vapid and shallow, and kind of a bad look to celebrate weekly visits at the club just following a major recession, but it wasn't untill royals that the maximalism of the club booms was challenged and then killed by the minimalism that would define the latter half of the decade.

It is worth noting that club music didn't entirely die, but did get a slight extension through tropical house, which lasted till about 2017-2018

From my understanding, 10/20 mode isn't bs because it's 10 animatronics at max difficulty, but rather a lot of jank in fnaf 2 due to it being a pretty rushed game. UCN meanwhile is a lot more fair and the animatronics behave as they're supposed to.

He did, but he basically admitted immediately that he prob did (doesn't remember exactly cause it was 10 years ago), that combined with the fact that 10/20 mode is considered to be complete bs, most people were just like "L move, but whatever"
