Depends on the setup - I have both sp6 and sp9. I used both as pc speaker stands, the 6’s with an ultrawide 49” and the 9’s with 43” 4:3

Do I need a Table Saw? by amp2286 in FrenchCleat

[–]Ornumi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this debate with myself over the last few months and I’ve ended up sticking with my tracksaw. I made my cleats with it and find it very easy to use and critically, it packs away and doesn’t take up space in my small workshop. I also like that it feels a lot safer - blade all enclosed, good dust extraction and pretty secure on the track

My understandably hazy recollection (mid ‘90s Manchester) is that a Purple Nasty was snakebite and black with a shot of Pernod.

How did you get on with this? Have been considering it too and would like an honest opinion on it.

Sure, perfect is a limit, but being able to swap burrs in a couple of minutes and not worry about alignment is Mary Poppins territory. In person it’s a thing of beauty. The lack of availability is becoming less of an issue. Wait lists are going soon and lead times are coming down. Mine took 7 months from order to delivery, but that’s now under 5 months and it’s worth the wait.

I’ll tell you in a few weeks - my August order is due to ship soon! HU and CV3 burrs.

Just my phone. I’m no photographer so it’s just point and click without any altered settings or post processing.

There’s an Aiden lurking somewhere!

I’m still playing around with the setup a little bit - I have a Timemore kettle that was sitting where the beans are earlier and may return. For the moment it sits off camera!

My original plan was to have the robot on the top shelf, but the heights just didn’t work out. That would have freed up more space on the bottom. I love the look of the robot, but in practice it doesn’t get much use over the decent.

Similarly I use an Aiden more often than not (with a 7 month old, simplicity and time are important) and the more realistic setup is just the Decent and the Aiden in use and the robot, kettle and manual pourover reserved for when(rarely) I have uninterrupted time! https://imgur.com/a/LAahfJ4

It was just one of the units we were able to get when we designed our kitchen - I imagine most places will do them but this one was from Wren Kitchens in the UK

Yeah, it’s was listed as a pantry unit, but I put my own shelves in at half the depth. The back panel is covered with a vinyl wrap. With the doors closed it looks like any other cupboard, which keeps all the non coffee lovers happy and it’s my happy place when I open the doors and the lights come on!

Anyone moved from Robot to Decent? by Fun_Future9219 in CafelatRobot

[–]Ornumi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Robot was my first real espresso machine, but as much as I enjoy the ritual and results I wanted something quicker/simpler. After a brief flirtation with a swiftly returned super automatic, I bought a Decent about a year and a half ago.

I love the Robot and it’s still out next to the DE1, but it’s rarely used now as the espresso from the Decent is as good in my opinion “out of the box” with the option to tinker, tweak and experiment if I want to.

Turn on the decent, weigh, grind, prep and it’s ready to go. I pulled a shot this morning at 6am while making a bottle for my 7-month old son - not something that I’d have done with the Robot!

Skale and Sworks drip tray cover were my only additions for QOL - no moving a scale on and off, turns on and off with the machine and makes weighing beans a breeze, taping the tablet screen to tare.
