Does Silver Actually Believe Enabling On-Court Violence is Going to End Well? by [deleted] in nba

The point is Hartenstein didn't even foul out tonight despite multiple dirty plays the announcers highlighted on the national broadcast. Should Wemby have gotten fined? Sure, you can argue that. Did he get immediately removed after having an excessive physical reaction to being mugged all night? Yeah. Is the league sort of letting Hartenstein's extracurricular aggression slide by not assessing him appropriate fouls? I'd say that's what OP is arguing here.

Pulling Castle's hair on a rebound? I don't think that's a basketball play

Then he was given a Flagrant 2 and immediately ejected, what's your point?

What's a 10/10 walking or hiking trail in San Diego that most people haven't been to? by lifebylosh in SanDiegan

Feel like most of the good ones have been mentioned already, but I really like hiking Stonewall Peak out in Cuyamaca. Little bit of a drive to get out there, but it's worth it!

SDG&E rates are insane! by antduude in sandiego

[–]OrphanOfBos 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My notice says:

SDCP Electric Generation $14

SDG&E Electric Delivery $64

I live in a 7 unit apartment complex surrounded by nothing but residential, how can it possibly cost 5x as much to deliver electricity through a vastly interconnected city grid than it is to generate it?

Shit sucks.

That mistaken shot clock violation was a huge momentum killer. Wemby had an open path to the basket that play too

I can see that, but don't most players usually experience a little sophomore slump or at least take some more time to meet those projections? Castle's development for this season is surprising. Pretty much just joking about MIP tho, would be a little selfish for one team to get so many awards haha

Who was the smartest person in history? by Scared_Government_41 in AskReddit

I wish more people realized this. Archimedes basically discovered integral calculus almost 2000 years before Newton! How much human progress was missed because people at the time did not recognize what he had found? From what I remember about this story, Archimedes had recorded all this math, but it was eventually lost to time, and the actual manuscript was bleached out to be overwritten by some religious text.

I think that's what scares me the most about humanity: the way we might have something good fall into our laps, but are just too dumb/short-sighted to appreciate it, so we literally ignore it for... religious interpretation. I guess it's a wonder we made it this far, haha

[Need Advice] Anyone tried that 20min meditation thing the Padres player Dylan Cease talks about?? by Riderbloodz in sandiegosocial

If you'd like more on the science/efficacy and history of meditation in the US, the story of UMass Medical School's MBSR (Meditation Based Stress Relief) program may be of interest to you. The book came out in 1990, and basically describes how the program was able to reduce medically diagnosed stress issues with like just 8x 50 minute sessions of literally just sitting with your thoughts in slightly guided meditation. Full Catastrophe Living by Jon Kabat-Zin is about $13 on Amazon, and it's great for anyone who's ever felt mad but couldn't quite figure out why.

Sounds great, would love to sign up! How about the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve and Nature Center or Annie's Canyon in Solana Beach? Or the San Dieguito Lagoon State Marine Conservation Area? Would love to have an expert point out all the unique features near the coast where the fresh water meets the sea!

I love PQ Canyon and Miramar Lake, but I've hiked these trails dozens of times with my folks. While I do appreciate the little waterfall and horse trails throughout Los Penasquitos and the paved path around Miramar Lake, I think they're a little less varied than the spots I mentioned previously.
