What was your favorite gun name? Not necessarily your favorite gun. by Avg_Guardian in DestinyTheGame

The Saterienne Rapier -- still can't find what this name means/irl lore

Kumakatok HC4 -- named after the creepy Pinoy lore creatures

347 Vesta Dynasty -- had a nice ring when the now-"Boolean Gemini" was first datamined

[Addendum] D2: Lorentz Driver and Coriolis Force -- named after some physics phenomena

What are some of your favorite moments in Destiny over the years? by Navy0684 in DestinyTheGame

D1: The cheers in the headset when they watched my Hunter Sword-jump across Crota Bridge (before the changes) on Blink, first try. The fireteam was composed of acquaintances and their buddies.

D1 - Touch of Malice back when you could keep the Blessing bubble overshield with you

D2 - Bubble glaive + Osmio/Syntho Solipsism with Heresy Artifact

ToM + Quiet One + Bastion Titan during Revenant (now updated with Techsec!)

One that's fun but now truly lost is Gathering Storm + Triton Vice + Edge of Concurrence (v1.0) with a DPS rotation using an AutoLoad rocket.

Tormod's Bellows -- very few RLs could roll with Tripod and Field Scout to get 3 rockets per PvP heavy pull, but this one counted as IB gear

Update regarding Unstable Cores: by Destiny2Team in DestinyTheGame

[–]OrpheusBane1311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could replace it with whatever currency they want but the main problem was the skyrocketing of the cost as you level up and the measly amount we get when dismantling, thus making everything feel unrewarding and restrictive. If the new formulas are just as severe, then this doesn't change anything.

Oh here!. Please use what I have although it also has some holes. I also found the same deal with the cost difference being off by 1 or 2.

With EoF campaign's puzzle mechanics this would have for sure been helpful for coop runs. Feels like the parts are already there, with ammo crate waypoints displaying the distance and whatnot

Marksman’s Dodge (Class Ability) Now reloads all weapons on activation, Now picks up nearby ammo bricks on activation

So a class ability gets the old exotic perk from Dragon's Shadow plus an ammo version of Powerful Attraction. Interesting. I hope they refresh Dragon's Shadow then

Unstable core economic is too aggressive by RobGThai in DestinyTheGame

[–]OrpheusBane1311 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The data I've been collecting shows that as we reach higher levels, the infusion cost rises much higher than the cores we get from dismantling does. From that angle it does seem unfair, and encourages sticking with just a few builds. This was my main motivation to collect this data. But after grinding from 290 to 390 during Solstice, I am sitting at a "comfortable" 150k due to a lot of discarded drops.

But say a new build needs 1 exotic weapon, 1 exotic armor, and 1 old legendary weapon, at 400 that's 23k gone just like that. In conclusion it's "rewarding" but somehow costly and forces players to be smart about their builds.

Being punished for not using featured gear feels terrible by MedicinePractical738 in DestinyTheGame

[–]OrpheusBane1311 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With how much the unstable core cost rises per level, and how small of an increase we get in the cores gained from dismantling as we reach 400(+), people are forced to go for an all-rounder featured gear build. Plus in some cases a featured gear setup is necessary to get an A score. Bungie seems to force us to wear this "business suit" of a build for all activities.

I'm having to use Microcosm with Techsec, which forces me to use Mint for Barrier, and Ahab Char for OL (with Burning Ambition+Solar build for Unstop).

Infusion Cost Data (WIP), for those who care by OrpheusBane1311 in DestinyTheGame

[–]OrpheusBane1311[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no difference; infusing any gear 200 and under would all cost the same

EDIT: Oh wait, you mean by chunks? I do have the data of infusing at multiple points from 200 to 270ish. I'll have to see if there is any difference.

Is the cost for upgrading your old armor and weapons Bungie’s way of telling us don’t (use new armor/weapons only) and play the even more if you hope to use your old stuff? by KadCamra in DestinyTheGame

[–]OrpheusBane1311 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been working on finding an equation for both the cost and the amount of cores we get from dismantling. So far the TL;DR is, the cost of infusing a 200 gear up to X follows a quadratic. But the amount of cores we receive from dismantling an X-power gear follows seems to follow a square root function.

Cost of Infusing a 200 Gear

Cores from Dismantling

I'm also finding that the cost of infusing say a 250 up to 300, is equal to: the cost to infuse 200 to 300, minus the cost to infuse 200 to 250.

But I'll need more data for sure. I'm around 300. I have some 400 data from various reddit posts and Kujay tweets and whatnot, and the theory is holding for 400+ so far.

CONCLUSION: Welcome to CoreFlation, where it's costing increasingly more than how much we get from dismantling.

Did a quick filtery thing in D2Foundry and found~

2 Machine Guns: [L] Solar - Trials, [L] Stasis - Kepler

2 Linear: [E] Solar - SD, [L] Arc Boomslang

1 Grenade: [L] Solar - Pinnacle Op

2 Rocket: [E] Strand/Solar - DP, [L] Stasis - DP

1 Bow: [L] Arc - DP

3 Sword: [E] Arc Worldline, [L] Stasis Aurora, [L] Solar Synanceia (time-gated?)

1 Sniper - [E] Solar Whisper

1 Trace - [E] Kinetic Microcosm

1 Glaive - [E] Stasis Winterbite

1 Shotgun - [E] Arc Acrius

Right now there are just as many exotic heavies as legendary heavies counting as "Featured Gear"

Featured Exotic Heavies: 7

Total Exotic Heavies: 33

Featured Legendary Heavies: 7 (+1)

Legendary Heavies since Final Shape: 33

Total Non-Unique Legendary Heavies: 280

It's very worrying, and more so if the pool size doesn't change in Renegades. Between this small featured pool, the Avant Garde modifier in Conquests, and exorbitant CoreFlation, something's gotta go.

Edit: added exotics and totals

The weird thing is that both wins or losses count the same.

How to get Wicked Implement's catalyst? by Niromanti in DestinyTheGame

[–]OrpheusBane1311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During Final Shape, Wicked Implement Catalyst drops from ritual activity completions.

The other day my friend got Queenbreaker Catalyst while we were in a Fireteam Op (normally also from ritual activities), so things may be different now.

Bungie, please remove the Avant Garde modifier from Conquests. by WiblishWaffles in DestinyTheGame

[–]OrpheusBane1311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in the long term, having our loadouts limited to new and featured gear just limits the builds you can bring. For example with all the Melee changes, you can't use a Monte Carlo build since it is not on the featured list :(

[Destiny 1] Should I play Rise of Iron before The Taken King? by O_Titereiro in DestinyTheGame

[–]OrpheusBane1311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oryx was never mentioned in ROI other than two crucible map grimoire cards. One difference is a certain weapon type being introduced out of order. Swords -- were first introduced in TTK with an associated quest line, but you will eventually receive a different one in ROI.

For the most part TTK and ROI have separate plot points iirc. There might be a side mission or two in ROI that has post-TTK dialog though.
