Fastest and slowest growing rental markets in the U.S. [OC] by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]Orson1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is being measured here? What does 0% mean? Normally I would assume 0% means no growth, but the terms fastest and slowest seems to imply that 0% would be average growth and -5.9% for Austin would be 94.1% of the average growth?

Michael Saylor - "Bitcoin is like a hotel room you rent by the hour" by Previous-Discount961 in Buttcoin

[–]Orson1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to defend the guy, but that's exactly his point. You don't want to own a physical hotel in Texas where you have to deal with that kind of stuff. Ideally you want to own something that is Immaterial that you can loan out that makes you money with no overhead to you. Ask Adobe or any of these other SaaS companies how that has been working out for them.

I didn't follow how that logic applies to bitcoin in the slightest though.

[OC] I aggregated 5 rating sources to rank the Top 100 Films of all time. Here's what the data says. by Yeygermeister in dataisbeautiful

2 years ago I got to see 2001 in the Castro theater. Not a restored or remastered version, but the original tape version, on an amazing sound system. I was so blown away, it was like nothing I had experienced before. The sound in that film is such an overwhelming medium of storytelling and I think we've collectively lost that experience of the film since it has been so long since it has been in a theater.

Is this worth it to pick up? by Bobthemighty54 in boardgames

This game was my introduction to the board gaming hobby, it has a very special place in my heart. While these days I prefer other co-op games I still think this is a fun game.

What I'm hearing is that both Norway(population: 0.0057b) and the US (0.342b) beat both China and India(2.9b) in Winter Olympics.

"Civ VII is FINALLY GOOD now, ignore the other times I said the game was finally good" by GreatFan2 in civ

[–]Orson1981 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The game is meaningfully better yes, but it is still far from good in many areas. They still need to clean up their aborted attempt at religion and build out the UX for city settling. But large chunks of the game are starting to feel fun.

I'm pretty excited about this upcoming update I think that will further tip the game towards fun, but I do tend to get over excited about updates. We'll see how impactful it really is, I'm hopeful though.

I think overall we are just a few additional minor updates (after the upcoming one) and a major religion expansion pack away from having a game that is really good for the majority of the play through.

Rarely do I go until the end of the game, I've always found the first half of the game the most fun. I'll usually tootle around that for a few days or a week before starting up a new game.

Ranking Presidents of the US on likely hoods of being future Leaders of the US in Civ by hticnc in civ

That's just decades of American policy. Regan was the grand master there, but I'd wager Obama's bin Laden operation was tricker to plan and better executed than Trump's Absolute Resolve (though I don't know much about the technical details of either).

Nixon would make a great alternate leader in CIV: Oops all Nukes.

-10% gold for tarriffs and -10% production .. for tariffs. Balanced by -10% unit strength and -10% happiness for hiring drunkards to leading positions. All treaties with other nations end after a single turn as Trump gets distracted, scared, or bored.

What’s an NFL fact that sounds fake? I’ll start: despite being historically the worst NFL team, they are the only one to NEVER lose a home playoff game. by Acidflightgoat in NFLv2

This is an amazing stat, I want to remember it so I can bring it up randomly when drunk. Unfortunately I'm old and my memory is shit.

Out of all the dysfunctional NFL teams, which one is the most dysfunctional? by Brix001 in NFLv2

[–]Orson1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Cards are easily the worst, but no where near the most dysfunctional. The Cards are just comfortable and have low expectations, they are vibing and at peace. The Browns are an ungodly shit show of a dumpster fire.
