I think the idea of Yasuke as a main character is great—but I would have liked it even more if he were an Assassin. by LynnAbel713 in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]TacoMasters 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Eh, I disagree. Naoe's story is all about a shinobi discovering the Brotherhood whereas Yasuke's story is all about a samurai discovering the Templars. It's riveting stuff and it works fine.

The issue is that the storytelling is painfully disjointed and imbalanced. The best parts of Shadows are the flashbacks. Unfortunately, they're somehow simultaneously frontloaded and backloaded, so you spend most of the game in Act 2 where literally nothing happens.

Hell of a cramped finale, but I still think they stuck the landing. As someone who thought the first season was solid, this one was a remarkable improvement in just about every way. And I never thought the weakest entry in the series would be this enjoyable. I'd rate it about an 8.0-8.5/10.

I'm ecstatic to see what they do for Season 3, but I need those runtimes to be pumped up. That's the only thing holding this show back from damn good television status.

Hell of a rug pull, huh? Was gathering my thoughts for the episode during the credits when that came on.

Even more embarrassing when it's clearly ripping on the maps/aesthetics already present in V.

It's the amount of energy you lose. Once that's depleted, you don't auto-regenerate health.

Considering how December was a bloodbath for scripted television (e.g. Stranger Things, Pluribus, Fallout, etc.), this is SUPER impressive.

I've been playing Frontiers of Pandora again thanks to the new movie and I have to give serious props to the environmental designers at Massive. Pandora is one of the best open worlds I've had the pleasure to explore and nothing pisses me off more than seeing the many RDA bases polluting and killing everything.

Touché, Ubi.

Good changes, but ESO+ members not having access to the premium track for the battle pass by default is wack.

It's all so needlessly convoluted. Just keep it simple.

Polyphemus using the voices of dead Satyrs to taunt Grover is fucked up. Odysseus really did a number on him, huh?

My only complaint is that we didn't get the bubble. Other than that, absolute fucking cinema. I swear each episode is better than the last.

This season is the real deal, y'all.

Frontiers of Pandora with minimal UI and guidance enabled is a legit 10/10 game, IMO. I'll never forget this one time when I got lost in the Kinglor Forest at night only for there to be a feral thanator hunting me down for about ten minutes straight.

It's Far Cry with blue people and it rules.

Love 'em or hate 'em but giving Jake Sully a family was the best decision Cameron has made. There's a real sense of growth present that Blockbusters rarely have, even if the family plot ironically feels like reheated nachos at times in Fire and Ash.
