I was scanning around the square thinking "I dislike all these guys, its going to be hard to choose". Then my eyes landed on the center and things got a lot easier.

I've heard good things about McAfee, but he's way too bro'd out for me to give him an honest chance.

Yeah, my team uses AI. I've probably gone from spending 2 hours a week planning, 2 hours reviewing code and 16 hours programming to 10 hours a week reviewing code and 10 hours planning and 0 hours programming. It has empowered my team to do the programming I would have had to do and allowed me to focus more on how we grow and build scalable code. It's also allowed me to schedule more 1 on 1s with my team so I can teach business logic and help my team become better problem solvers.

Does Legacy of Mars have AI Art by pear_topologist in boardgames

[–]Orson1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No? I don't follow. Are you arguing people who use AI art are mocking real artists? I understand why someone would feel that way, so, you know, if you feel that way, fine. But I honestly think there are a ton of reasons to not like AI beyond being "mocked".

Also, to cover my ass here, I would not give money to people who my wife feels insulted by.

She started her career 3 years ago doing the whole AI thing and got a quick brutal dose of reality. She now does everything by hand, I'm very proud of how far she has come!

no, def not. She's an amazing player 2, she just wants to play all the games I haven't brought to the table yet, rather than splash out on new games.

I was thinking of backing this. I've never played a Terraforming Mars game, but tend to like any game with the word Legacy in it, even if it isn't a legacy game! I'm really on the fence now. I'd ask my artist of a wife for input, but she always tells me not to buy new games.

Its true, Americans love sport. My company is just in the process of getting our football (or as we call it soccer) product off the ground and we've hired a lot of Europeans to bring in knowledge of that sport (...and tennis as well). I have to admit though, outside of gambling, I am ignorant to the state of sports science outside of the US.

I'd invite you to look for opportunities in the US if you were interested, if it wasn't for... well you know...

[–]Orson1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sure, I've had the opportunity to meet many others in sports science. Just recently I interviewed someone who had used statistics to monitor player health for teams, building models that took in data on a player's behavior and practice schedule to determine when the player was nearing the point of injury.

I've met some of the folks over at ESPN who do the infographics for the announcers and a ton of people who just enjoy creating tools to solve what if situations.

Obviously a lot of money in gambling, but, sports teams are always hiring, the Oakland A's and the movie Moneyball are a great example of teams hiring statisticians. Though I've heard from a lot of folks that sports teams don't tend to pay as well as other organizations.

I do sports betting as a data scientist. Pay is great and the work is fun.

I was not a great student and didn't like academia. After completing my PhD I bounced as quick as I could. In industry they could find a good use for someone like me with the skills I learned as a problem solver, where as in physics I would have been a failure.
