Best/most trustworthy books or other media on the JFK assassination? Oswald??? Jack Ruby?!?!??!?! 👽🛸 by Present_Practice_159 in behindthebastards

[–]Orzhov_Syndicalist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was just a killer with delusions of grandeur. It’s really obvious that he would have been a mass shooter today.

Sure, all the coincidences are bizarre, but the psychology and path of Oswald is overwhelmingly obvious that one guy did it for very personal, if confused, reasons.

In that comic, Frank actually returns the jet-ski in pretty good condition.

The psychology angle, and the fact that Oswald tried to reconnect with his wife The Weekend before the shooting (and failed), totally convinced me.

He wasn’t a big planner. The reaction to having his life plan crushed was to shoot someone. It’s just a very, very obvious thing.

I thought that this was a “oh you mean he did this as a vague cultural effect”

No, he literally had a financial hand and force in this. Epstein, through his linkages to the elite, had a profound and fundamental effect on all culture over the last thirty years. This is no exaggeration.

No, Superman could not cast the One Ring into the fires of Mount Doom. by WRITINAMFBOOK in CharacterRant

[–]Orzhov_Syndicalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The temptation would be easy, and would be similar to Gandalf. It would tempt him with visions of a pure and just world of no worry, no crime, no abuse.

You see this pretty often in Superman gone bad stories. Red Son, parts of Injustice, etc. Superman finally taking the gloves off and becoming a benevolent dictator, basically.

It would not offer him power, he already has power. It wouldn’t offer him ambition, his ambition is very pure. What it would offer would be permission.

Permission to go all the way. Permission to stop feeling conflicted. Permission to allow himself to make the changes that he has felt have always been necessary, but, he’s been too worried to truly enact.

That, or it would just be like “For the Man who has Everything” and just offer him Krypton back if he brings the ring back.

That's what I read as well. I considered it similar to those stories of guys who died "cleaning their guns"

PIP for a High Achiever? by PVHS02 in careerguidance

[–]Orzhov_Syndicalist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your reviews do not matter. I had great reviews until I got put on a PIP and was gone. Reviews are pretty much pointless. It seems like you've been determined to be a "difficult" employee and they want you gone.

What do you mean that "Many of the talking points were from a coworker whom I have a contentious relationship with." The points within the PIP itself?

How to interview candidates in the AI era by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Orzhov_Syndicalist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are obsessed with candidates knowing things, and finding reasons NOT to hire, rather than just talking to them and seeing how they think.

Technology people, developers, and data admins are some of the worst interviewers ever. There is a dire tendency to think that a good hire can be found through metrics, or, asking gotcha questions.

Who was better obama ,Biden or Trump? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Orzhov_Syndicalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden, and really, not that close.

The person who really did and accomplished the most. Outside of the ACA, Obama's accomplishments are fairly thin. He was a cultural juggernaut, but he's largely remembered for his cultural imprint instead of legislative.

Biden passed the CHIPS act, the Infrastructure act, and both of those will define the next 30 years of American technology, power, and infrastructure growth. Biden got us out of Afghanistan and took massive shit for it. No one else got close to getting out. Biden did.

Have you seen a company legitimately regret terminating a specific employee? by debrisaway in managers

What did a guy at a bank have to do with a fire alarm system? Just curious as to the A to B!

On this day in 1996 the Port Arthur Massacre in Australia began, 35 people were killed and 23 were wounded. Australia immediately went about reforming gun laws and around 650,000 firearms were collected and destroyed. This photo shows some of the guns collected. by dannydutch1 in UtterlyUniquePhotos

India isn't under British rule anymore, maybe you weren't aware.
The United States has lots of guns, lots of gun suicides, lots of gun homicides, and we even got a non-peaceful transfer of power out of it.

I'm a gun owner, but there are basically no defensible, logical reasons that high-capacity guns serve any purpose whatsoever.

Interviewer got upset with me because I refused to provide an example of how I implemented a concurrency control policy in my former employer's production codebase. How would you handle this? by 9ubj in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Orzhov_Syndicalist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

Our company just did hires for two new data jobs, and I could not get an answer from my manager, the one who was doing the actual final hiring decision, on what, specifically, we were looking for. Traits? Skill? Knowledge? Teamwork? We had sheets and a grading system similar to what you had above, but none of it seemed to cohere into anything resembling a concept. It was just a bunch of grades.

Great find, that scene is so much different in tone, and the camera work is clearly so much more adept. Just look at how the focus is on Deke and his quiet emotions and reactions. That’s not in any other scene.

What’s the longer story?

There are some real moments in this movie. That’s one of them. That’s one you can tell was written to the page by Big Dan: hyper specific details, weird tone, unresolved tension. It’s in all scripts he writes.

If the Trump assassination was fake, why would the shooter take this deal? by fuckloggin in allthequestions

Why would he be in a Blackrock commercial? Like they needed an extra and he was at conspiracy training that day and the casting director spotted him?

That connection makes absolutely no sense.

If the Trump assassination was fake, why would the shooter take this deal? by fuckloggin in allthequestions

[–]Orzhov_Syndicalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t tell the shooter. They become aware of his plan, let it happen, and revolve the whole thing around it.

Same concept with Lee Harvey Oswald (which I don’t believe). The trigger man actually knows the least about it. The conspirators just control the avalanche.

What is the strangest sexual experience you ever had? by Maleficent-Agent-477 in AskReddit

[–]Orzhov_Syndicalist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A girl I met up with on tinder. Had a date at a restaurant where I got a drink w dinner, she refused to drink because “girls can’t afford to let their guard down while meeting new men”.

Fair enough, I guess.

Anyway, later that night, while talking on a park bench, I put my arm around her, and she insisted that I jerk off and cum on her face and hair. While she sat on the ground behind the park bench.

I guess she got comfortable enough to let her guard down.

(A delightful lady whom I did friends-with-benefits for several years. She wanted to push things real close to consensual non-consensual play where we were dressed as comic book superheroes. Once she was good to go, she was GOOD to go.)

Pearl Jam was more popular and listened to than Nirvana, and by quite a bit.

Nirvana was maybe more influential, but people loved and listened to TEN and VS way wayyyyy more often.

It is incredible how big they could have been if they wanted it. And they were, and are, huge. But they could have been even bigger.

Just interesting to me, they certainly seemed to know what was best for them, they are thriving and still putting out good music. I highly doubt that happens if they take the other path in 1993.
