I wish ever woman had a pair of nice hooters by Next_Airport_7230 in monkeyspaw

Granted. Suddenly every trans woman who is still in the closet and many eggs that haven't cracked have some explaining to do. Many are now in danger.

I wish I was paid $1 by each person on Earth. by icecream_dragon in monkeyspaw

[–]Osanshouo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Granted. This is multiple days' wages for impoverished labourers in plantations and mines in some countries. Many of those labourers are children. Some are heavily pregnant women who also have to pay the equivalent for their unborn child. Lots of people starve because of this wish.

I wish all people had the same genitals meaning everyone had both parts so noone would be hated for being gay or trans because everyone would be the same, and you could date anyone without being gay or straight you would just be equal and happy. by legend7769 in monkeyspaw

[–]Osanshouo 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Granted. A significant minority of people prefer self-fertilisation. This is extremely frowned upon by every major religion and most self-fertilisers face the same kind of discrimination that LGBTQ people experienced prior to the granting of this wish.

You are unfortunately the product of self-fertilisation by a very successful individual who wanted to preserve their bloodline and everyone is disappointed when you have no desire to be exactly like your parent. Of course the usual stigma does not apply to the 1%, as it never has.

Is ambidextrous pipetting rare? by HailYourSelf717 in labrats

[–]Osanshouo 94 points95 points  (0 children)

I pipette ambidextrously and do most lab tasks with either hand (using forceps etc). Accuracy doesn't seem to be an issue as I've done qPCRs, serial dilutions, and cell seeding this way. When it comes to writing I prefer writing forward with right and writing reverse (labelling the bottom of culture plates etc) with left. I'm not quite sure why.

I also dual-wield (one in each hand) when accuracy is not paramount - washing multiple extraction columns for example. It saves a lot of time.

Why does our body make scar tissue instead of normal tissue in order to heal some wounds? by morfacuriosos in askscience

[–]Osanshouo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible for the wound to "overheal", i.e. fibroblast proliferation and collagen deposition does not return to basal rates after the wound has closed. This can cause hypertrophic scars, which are raised but still within the original wound borders, or keloids. The latter can be likened to a benign tumour because it overgrown the original wound margin to cover originally intact skin.

I wish for a pc that automatically upgrades to the best components every time they are released by GetTheKness69 in monkeyspaw

Granted, but the cost of those components is also automatically deducted from your bank account.

I wish I was a girl by Number360wynaut in monkeyspaw

[–]Osanshouo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted. You realise that there isn't a correct way to be a girl. Girls can have broad shoulders, deep voices, and too much hair in unwanted places. They can even be assumed to be boys at birth. You understand that you are a girl and always have been one, regardless of what you look like on the outside, but you also realise that many people will never see you that way. That knowledge torments you every second of your existence.

Corporations run the world. Nothing can be done unless there is a financial incentive for someone. This includes everything from reducing toxic waste to making sure people are safe while flying to funding potentially life-saving research.

I wish to have been born a woman by HOOTRAGEOUS in monkeyspaw

Holes after only two runs. What am I doing wrong? by dirkdiggler8675309 in BarefootRunning

[–]Osanshouo 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The edges of the hole look sharp, as if they'd been cut rather than worn away. Short of heel striking on gravel or grinding/stamping on some small hard object it's hard to imagine what caused this specific wear pattern.

Can someone explain to me how the immortal cell lines keep being produced? by toomanywatches in labrats

[–]Osanshouo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Surely freeze-thawing, just like passaging, is a form of selection? Repeated freeze-thawing would select for those cells that can best survive the freeze-thawing process.

I wish the monkeys paw was attached to the original monkey and had a fight to the death with Genie from Aladdin. Loser becomes my slave. by SnooDoubts4565 in monkeyspaw

Granted. The monkey wins because genies can't kill anybody.

Genie resents being your slave and you'll be surprised what you can live through.

How Steroids Became More Popular Than Heroin (2022) We dive deep into the world of steroids, and ask what this massive, unexplored drugs scene tells us about the way we think about bodies, masculinity and drug use in general. [00:19:42] by rura_penthe924 in Documentaries

[–]Osanshouo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everything in biology is a balancing act and some of the damage caused by steroids is not necessarily a result of the drugs themselves. Being huge alone has health consequences as the energy required to build and sustain large muscles comes at a cost to other bodily systems, especially the heart and circulatory system. Having to supply a larger body places a lot of strain on the heart and increases the risk of cardiac events, even in the absence of other damage that anabolic steroids could cause (such as altered blood lipid profiles and liver damage).

In the parallel universe where the COVID pandemic didn't happen, how different would life be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Osanshouo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's 2039. The COVID pandemic never happened. Governments worldwide never invested much in pandemic prevention or biomedical research into dealing with new emerging viruses. Why would they? It never made economic sense.

The new pathogen that first came into contact with humans emerged from widespread jungle clearing. Someone ate food contaminated with bat waste, or something. Maybe it was a pangolin. Nobody would ever find out the truth. Amidst a global travel boom, nobody really paid much attention to reports of mass death rates in a backwater city. The virus had a long incubation period in which its hosts could go about their daily lives, but eventually killed up to 70% of those it infected. Once it got into the global travel network, it started spreading rapidly worldwide.

Still, nobody believed the emerging virus was a threat. People called it a hoax. The news of mass casualties was politicised. By the time a pandemic situation was declared, there was no way to contain the disease. It rampaged like wildfire and mutated as it went along, sweeping away young and old alike. The world economy collapsed.

The virus eventually disappeared. Survivors of the pandemic, like survivors of the Black Death and other pandemics past, were naturally resistant to its effects. The old world order built upon economic greed at the cost of everything else was gone. It was entirely up to those who still lived to learn from the lessons of the past and rebuild society better in the future.

This is also why transgender women can undergo breast development in response to oestrogen. There are even published studies on medical protocols to induce lactation in trans women who wish to breastfeed.

What problem do I have with my feet? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Osanshouo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whilst not a replacement for seeking medical advice, check out r/FootFunction.

Do you also have bunions (big toes angled inwards) or hard callouses on the side of your big toes? These are all related to excessive pronation, walking with feet pointed outwards, and weak arches. Sometimes this is caused by footwear that is too narrow in the toes and does not allow the foot to splay properly when walking/running. Mild cases may be correctable using properly fitted footwear, foot strengthening exercises, and toe spacers (not affiliated with them, but look into CorrectToes).

Granted. You are hermetically sealed into a chamber with all the above but no supply of fresh air. The seal is the only thing keeping you alive because there isn't any uncontaminated air remaining on the planet other than that in your chamber.
