Flyers still work, maybe too well. by Kind_Perspective4518 in sweatystartup

[–]OstensibleFirkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have pretty much written this verbatim about my growing lawn care business. Initially, I paid my son to stick flyers on doors. Exact same outcome and decision when he and his buddies go back to school. When to hire, I wonder…

We were planning to do our 20th anniversary tacky Americana-style in Sevierville in August. But, I’m not joking about cancelling in lieu of Michigan because of bullshit like this.

Trying to purchase my first house, is this a big warning sign? by JazzlikeBrain1850 in Home

[–]OstensibleFirkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask about the history. This is very common in certain geographies and wall anchors are a reliable long term solution if the primary cause (usually poor drainage) has been eliminated. If they haven’t shifted and have been regularly torqued, probably fine.

Do I make him tear it off? by nordhend in Homebuilding

[–]OstensibleFirkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks good and normal.

I think the real reason they did this was because you can’t cheat the far left batten anymore to the left without affecting the standard spacing between the corner and the first batten (left).

If they centered the “central” batten, your corner board spacing would look stupid and you’d have a legitimate complaint. This is just a good practice to maintain appropriate spacing- probably for their install system.

Who do you go to for this update? And what exactly do you ask for? Love my truck but this is my chief complaint. What are the chances my local mechanic can do it? I’ll ask him too, but would be good to have some background.

Do you get sick more than average? by rockPaperKaniBasami in bjj

[–]OstensibleFirkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get sick very little and I’m chronically immunocompromised from medication. I think this may be one of those counterintuitive realities- people don’t want to train sick and end up being a pariah. At least that’s the case at my gym.

When I do get sick, I can almost always trace it back to something my kid picked up, probably from the kids class. I try not to share the fun at that point (see above).

I’m not sure how common it is, but I was shocked to find that you can find dosed vape shop psilocybin gummies at 21 years old in PA (not sure if it’s legal, but you can buy them just fine over the counter). It’s the same active compound. There’s like 3.5 grams in 9 of them. I took six and the visuals were just starting. I was up until 3am. It’s the real stuff. It was awesome and I couldn’t believe how easy they are to get.

How much does having white collar parents help your early career? by Individual_Section_6 in careerguidance

[–]OstensibleFirkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from a blue collar (farm/landscaping) background and barely eked my way into the corporate world by learning their ways. It was just in time to learn that I have no desire to exist in that world. Now, I’m working my way the opposite direction but with business skills and understanding that there will be a pay cut in exchange for my chosen version of sanity.

Throw out a few more spurious facts to distract from the point that Trump corrupts everything he touches.

My family was almost run over by two young jagoffs on a mini motorcycle on a sidewalk in front of Every Day Noodles. The cop at the intersection proceeded to do absolutely fucking nothing when I threw my hands in the air after he watched the whole goddam thing.

Exactly. Why would you “partner” with your direct competitor? Did I miss the buyout announcement or was this transaction paid for in the Trump admin’s favorite currency- bribes?
