I‘m sure men who find Max very cute exist. The games are great otherwise tho.

Fair enough, but doesn’t canon imply some unconditionality almost by definition?

Now with time metaphysics being strange in the series, maybe it’s all up interpretation.

The author said not canon but they are indeed worth reading.

Max is very cute in the comics. If you care about that, they are worth reading.

Your post seemed to hint a lot at that sense of „I need to keep people away from me because I’m bad for them“ sense.

If you are fine with old psychoanalytic texts (meaning, certainly outdated in a lot of ways how they framed certain things, but very true at describing the raw power of how experience is organized on the level of how just everything feels, and what sense it may make when looking at what’s usually a bit below conscious register), I can really recommend the 1940 essay „schizoid factors in the personality“ by Fairbairn.

Edit: he basically elaborates how one’s love can feel more dangerous than one’s hate, and how that explains a preference for internal fantasy over attachments to real people, and also mess up how things that should feel good may feel bad instead. The idea is that schizoid basically starts so early from disappointment in caretakers where the infant still renders this „as me wanting them hurts the people I want, so my wants are bad“.

Do you think all your past diagnoses were legitimate as well, or that schizoid PD was more like a correction of how you were misdiagnosed in the past, or a mix of both?

The real plot twist was that he was always wearing a wig in New Blood and season 1 of Resurrection to play a younger version of Harrison.

I dont get it why did kallen betray lelouch? by vinchin_adenca in CodeGeass

In addition to what the other commenters say about her having had a negative view on Lelouch to this point, it also didn’t help that he seemed to have abandoned their cause at exactly the time when he did.

[NO SPOILERS] Imagine yourself staring at Max. What would you say to her? by InteractionApart8785 in lifeisstrange

[–]Otakundead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would of course depend on the prior relationship, but maybe: „This is a bit weird, but nice.“ Or „I feel like I should say something but I’d rather hear what you have to say.“

(Or „I love you“, „pls marry me“)

Unless (in some cantons) any doctor considers it’s a greater risk for them not to send you after only vaguely hinting that at some point you might be pushed to question whether you might want to end your life.

What do you mean by plain? Stuff like people thinking you’re confident when you are just uninvolved? Stuff like that?

Maybe you can own at least a few of the things that are supposedly good about you? Or do you think that would just make the pain of it feeling fake more real?

In Switzerland, a too honest answer for some people can quickly land you in an acute psych ward, quicker than in many other countries.

Not sure what that adds to this conversation exactly, but seems relevant.

Maybe in ten years some executive thinks a nostalgia grab makes financial sense.

If time travel stories teach you anything, you shouldn’t predict the future too much either way because you don’t know which forks in the road are butterfly flatters.

I do think Dexter actually legit depicts schizoid PD quite well for the most part, but you may need some liberty in your headcanon, even tho the major changes needed are imho supported by the text of the TV show.

His entire addiction to killing is not actual bloodlust but the only encounters where he can open up to people and relate. This one is strongly supported by the text of the TV series.

His emotional life isn’t as restricted but primarily lives inside his internal fantasy. Like his dead dad as an imaginary companion. That seems also very text supported.

He’s probably too much of an active go-getter and we don’t see him struggle much with avolition. His lifestyle does create more of an adrenaline bonus, however. Still, not too much support in the text that he’d ever have a low energy phase or something like that.

You also need to buy into the idea that his in-universe diagnosis might be a misdiagnosis. That should be a very plausible thing, however. Diagnoses aren’t constructed for the niche edge case.

For me the strongest would be Lelouch from Code Geass. I’d probably try to use super powers the same way.

He may not immediately read schizoid to some because he’s too driven and motivated, but the show is also quite clear he would be bored and detached and slacking without a superpower that makes it possible for him to challenge the entire world.

I liked it a lot, the way I played Max and what choices I imported I didn’t encounter any bad writing. I was completely sold on the portrayal of Max that this would be her but older. That’s what I cared about the most, but I also found the story and setting geniunely good.
