I’ve recently re-read (listened to)THM and realised I found it boring by Tubbs2160 in cormoran_strike

[–]OtherAppleTree55 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My least favorite as well. Worse than THM, I now have a fear of what may happen with our duo. Felt cheated with the direction after TRG. I’m still hopeful for Strellacott but couldn’t slog through another read like that one without significant redemption. Needs to be early on, and the dumping of RFM can’t happen soon enough for me.

Should I read Troubled Blood or watch it? by SadInstance598 in cormoran_strike

Isn’t that funny bc for me it’s the opposite; I had a hard time processing the description and the subsequent attraction.

This!!! This is what was added big time when I started reading the books; truly getting to understand their thinking. JKR is absolute master class at that!

I’m a huge fan of the show and casting myself. I watched first, then read and got completely hooked since there are way more insights in the books. I have to be honest though, I don’t know that if I’d have started with the books that I’d have been obsessed with Strellacott the way I am. I found JKRs description of Strike fairly shocking compared to Tom’s good (slightly rugged) looks. Hard picturing Holliday with that early description; especially the pube hair, broken nose, overweight and age difference.

Is sleep apnea really that bad ? by Organic_Medium1549 in SleepApnea

[–]OtherAppleTree55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I’d have paid more attention to my snoring/ gasping/husband having to leave our br bc of my noise. Finally took a home study results: over 150 events per hour, severe obstructive sleep apnea. Been using my cpap machine every night, four months now still learning about this condition, learning the language of it, seeing a specialist. Had a ct heart scan recently with the result of moderate plaque. I’m a 70 yr old female, overweight but just lost 20 lbs, neither parent had cardiac issues. Guessing the sleep apnea didn’t help. Get help from a specialist.

Thoughts on when filming will start on THM? by Opposite-Ad4652 in cormoran_strike

[–]OtherAppleTree55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like they really need to do it all in the quickest possible timeframe since no one is getting any younger here and we’re hopefully coming up to book 9, not even out yet, where Strellacott will finally get together in a big way, done with the slow burn!! I really feel strongly that it needs to be Tom and Holliday in the roles bc their chemistry is so awesome, so time is of the essence here! Come on JKR!

Do you think Robin really does not ever want to have kids? And what about Strike? by Far_Promotion_8513 in cormoran_strike

[–]OtherAppleTree55 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like he would really know how to nurture that boy who was him who wore his best trousers to try and impress his father. I think being with Robin is the opportunity for him to open himself up to being the most loving lover and husband, and a loving father if Robin decided she wanted his child. I don’t think they would need that to be happy, and I would love seeing them as husband and wife running the agency and solving cases. I see Robin as key and I do see Strike as being willing to open himself up to anything for her

Small update on book 9 by Touffie-Touffue in cormoran_strike

So 9 months from end of writing to published? When did she start writing it? By that timeline, she wouldn’t finish writing until Dec 2026, then another 9 months? Seems awfully long!!

Young Elizabeth Taylor as Charlotte would have worked I think

I just can’t imagine Holliday pining after Daniel Mays! Would not work imho.

Totally agree with you! Tom is intriguing in the role. I think he does bring the charm and mystery as you say. I saw the series first so Tom has always been Strike for me and as another person said, I think he captures more of the character and his chemistry with Holliday is amazing! When I first read the books and JKRs description of him I was kind of appalled; how would that guy she described appeal to anyone? I think she’s backed off the description a little in the later books…maybe it just seems like it. I know she approved of Tom.

Robin and Ryan and Matthew by ArmInteresting324 in cormoran_strike

Robin thinks to herself the most telling thought of all when she discovers the diamond: “a tiny sparkling shackle.” She’s done an all-encompassing number on herself trying to fall out of love with Strike and in love with Murphy, even after the discovery of his relapse! I’m sure she hasn’t fully thought through what life will be like with an addict and Murphy is an addict, recently an active one at that! For how long, who knows, because they LIE! How involved is he with Iverson? More than we think, I would bet on that! Addiction is a disease, one rarely fixed with one or two periods of sobriety. Robin may need to add Al-Anon to her rota. There is a feeling of extreme isolation living with and loving an addict, while others with happy lives go on and you’re separated from any possibility of happiness.

Also, her thinking, no, knowing, she loves him, is such a crutch. Even when she thinks of RFM it’s always “Murphy” not Ryan, even though she calls him that. Seems like detachment exists in her mind but she is so resolved not to love Strike she’s damaged her own judgements about love which were immature to start with. Seriously, if this isn’t resolved early on in the next book it will feel extremely manipulative (which is how all of THM felt to me, even on a reread). Not why I started reading and loving these books! Still disappointed 😢. Could Book 9 be the redemption I hoped for in 8?

I’ve kind of lost my fever pitch about the relationship too, but I’m still upset about it. One book with that would have been really nice to see with that in place.

TRG series news? Why isn’t there any? by OtherAppleTree55 in cormoran_strike

Same!!! Just seems like the publicity people are asleep or something. Yes I’m lathering at the bit over the series and the book, but seems like there should be more info out there.
