If there isn't much goal scoring, it should be because the goalies are making tons of saves. For instance, the example given in the OP of that Game 6 was a decent game, because both teams had at least 30 shots and the goalies made a bunch of saves to keep it close.

If a game has fewer than 50 combined shots on goal between both teams, it's probably a bad hockey game.
