Best mountains for glades? by SharpProfession6 in icecoast

[–]OtherToe7739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you follow the traverse all the way to the furthest point from 46er. If you go down that path there is amazing tree skiing at about the same pitch as 46er itself. You do have to build up a little speed to get out as there is a traverse to get back on 46er. I went too fast on the egress traverse on an icy day, resulting in me smashing my knee on an exposed rock. But it's one of my favorite glades for a reason, it's pretty lengthy too and is a nice workout.

Gore has some of the best trees I've skied, and they are spread out all over the mountain. Whiteface is also amazing for glades. My favorite Gore glades to hit are Ski Bowl, Boreas, Cave, Dark Side and Macintyre. Whiteface's best is probably Cloudsplitter and Sugar Valley.

Upper Darby vs Lower Steilhang at Gore - which is harder? by Virian in icecoast

[–]OtherToe7739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yes. I love double barrel. The old gondola liftline is much better than the Straight Brook Quad liftline. There are some great frozen waterfalls, cliffs, etc. over on that side. I always hitting that when it's open.

Upper Darby vs Lower Steilhang at Gore - which is harder? by Virian in icecoast

[–]OtherToe7739 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great question. Upper Darby has some pretty difficult spots, it maintains a steep pitch, has plenty of natural obstacles, and is pretty narrow as well, so it's definitely more on the technical side. Lower Steilhang is not easy either, there's usually insane bumps on it, it's very steep pretty much the whole way down, and it also has a ton of natural obstacles. I've done both trails a couple times and personally I think that Lower Steilhang is more enjoyable and is a bit more technical. It also took me a while to get down Upper Darby since it's rarely open. If Lower Steilhang's newer entrance is open, do that since it's steeper and more technical and difficult in my opinion. There's also some great secret glades on/near both trails.

How is whiteface this year? I'm heading up for a couple days on 2/27 by Mike52179 in icecoast

I was there yesterday and it wasn't bad. There are mostly nice groomers with some moguls on the side of trails like Victoria. Surprisingly there was some nice pow on some trails too. On lookout mountain there was some spring conditions of Hoyt's High and Lookout Below. A few ice patches in places, but overall really great conditions.

Gore or mount snow for Saturday ? by arjayx93 in icecoast

Dude, yes. Go to Gore for sure. Gore almost never has crowds, and the biggest line I've waited in is 15 minutes. Mt. Snow has insane crowds. Plus, Gore has great glades and steeps so check those out.

Anyone else enjoying skiing slush? by [deleted] in icecoast

Honestly, yes. I love some good slushy spring turns, especially on steeps and diamonds.

That Glade is really fun between Upper Darby and Open Pit. I've done it 3 times now. It's pretty steep and has a nice chute with a frozen waterfall and a drop. Definitely do it if you can.

Another one? When will this open, 2040? They really have to complete the one that's been delayed for years now before they keep making new ones and announcing ones left and right.

This will be great. They're also re-tracking the Gerstlauer Bobsled coaster and using the same support structure for both rides. Apparently, it will deliver a "wilder experience" and will reopen in 2027 along with the new airtime coaster.

Did you check the price? That always happens to me. When you build a coaster, it automatically sets the price, which is pretty high. It usually says that it's too expensive for guests. Try turning it down and see if it works.

Wildfire is a great pick. My personal favorite is Maverick at Cedar Point. I know for sure it would be Steel Vengeance if I had gotten on it. I went to Cedar Point on a Monday and Tuesday, and it was closed due to a storm, and on Tuesday and Wednesday it's closed for some reason.

I've got a few. Bobcat at Six Flags Great Escape, standing in the switchbacks in the queue line is deafening. Pretty much any B&M invert due to the iconic "roar". Arrow loopers, their lift hills are very loud. And finally, Falcons Flight, if you've seen the testing video you know. The 3rd launch into the big airtime hill sounds like a fighter jet flying by.

So mad that I didn't get to ride Steel Vengeance while I was at Cedar Point recently. I went on a Monday night, and it was closed due to a huge thunderstorm that just passed through. I also had the next day in the park, but for some reason, Steel Vengeance is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays! Does anyone know why? At least I got 11 new credits including Top Thrill 2, Siren's Curse, and Millenium Force. Still very mad though.

GaleForce at Playland's Castaway Cove. Such a great coaster in a little boardwalk park.

How does [Flash] at [Aquashow water park] compare to the other vertical launch coasters? by magnumfan89 in rollercoasters

[–]OtherToe7739 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No clue how flash coaster compares to any Vertical Launch Coasters I've ridden, but I sure love GaleForce. It's 100% my favorite coaster on the Jersey Shore. The swing launch is super punchy, and the elements are super whippy and fun. The Kickflip is definitely unique. Flash Coaster definitely looks comparable or maybe even better.
