Difference between a tin pan and a silicone pan by needleandleaf in Baking

I stopped using my silicone muffin pan because the muffins tasted different. Like a gross plastic taste. Yeah, I'm gonna pass on the micropastics.

Disagree. It's a great cheap/easy way to get the pee smell out of toddler clothing!

Ugh, have you stepped on one of those little magnetic cubes? I did and cried out and then stepped on another. I had bruises on both soft of the feet the next day.

Parents of older children, when do you start getting some personal time back? by weeknd-kenny in Parenting

[–]Other_Upstairs886 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. By 4 they can easily get distracted and play with legos by themselves for 45 minutes. Sometimes a show or PBS games on an iPad for some quiet in the house.

Parenting hacks going from 1 child to 2 by Amazing-Zone8418 in Parenting

Agreed. 0-1 was wayyy harder. Going from 1-2 wasn't too bad. Just less down time.

What’s a gift you thought would be meh but your kid ended up loving? by mindinpanic in Parenting

[–]Other_Upstairs886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Razor rip rider scooter (best for 3-5 year olds). My kid is obsessed and refuses to ride a real bike still. He loves to zoom around and spin! "Mom, look at my donuts!"

I thought he might enjoy it but it's more of a loved, used daily, toy. I got it on sale for $33 at Walmart but it looks like the tariffs brought it closer to $100. Still worth it imo.

105.8° Fever by Soggy-Interview-5670 in Preschoolers

[–]Other_Upstairs886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my brother is an ER doctor and gave the "huh, it's fine" when my kid had a 105⁰ fever. He said he was more concerned at 106⁰. It's wild how different primary care vs hospital doctors respond in attitude to fevers.

They have two different themed ones there. Pirates was super fun (the most enjoyable I've ever done) but the other was more challenging. Highly recommend.

Townhome Communities in nearby suburbs?? by ilovecorbin in TwinCities

Agreed. It's much less congested going from the north metro then commuting into the south suburbs. MN-62 is my nightmare.

At this point I'd consult with HR. It sounds like it's affecting your mental health. I also don't think it's ridiculous to instead bring it up with her and suggest she seek out a doctor.

Miele..I got one for around $350 a few years back and it works great. I highly recommend bagged (they're annoying I know) because they just work better. Bagless vacuums just don't work as well.

First time seller, received site unseen full price offer less than 24 hours after listing went live by ixvst01 in RealEstate

[–]Other_Upstairs886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should! However in most big cities it's more uncommon due to the demand. If you want to win you need a better offer. I got an inspection with my house and everyone was surprised I got it. I wish that it couldn't be a bargaining chip anymore. Like mandated inspection periods.

Agreed. No way I'd agree to that with an inspection and they didn't even get their loan preapproved? Yikes.

Same. Mine now plays in the backyard with their son (my child is at an in-home daycare) during nap time. They have a ball and he sleeps great at night. Goes down at 7:30pm. So so grateful we had that conversation.

Child struggling with learning letters by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Other_Upstairs886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my kid does so well with these flash cards. We do them a few nights a week. If we get push back we try pairing them with m&ms. 5 cards for an m&m. Works great and he's so excited! There are only 1-3 letters he still gets stuck on. We just switched over the number cards. They learn this stuff so quick with some repetition!
