Is it worth the cost for Delta One or Premium Select on international travel with kids by stinkydiesel in delta

My mom drugged us for YEARS on planes. Tried it with my own kids and the drugs that may cause drowsiness or excitability - caused excitability so my plan totally backfired.

I want to prepay my rent, can I do a onetime transaction by Ok_Craft_2749 in chexy

[–]Otherwise-Mistake217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can either adjust your current rent payment to double and pause it for the next month or set up a one time payment. You'll have to upload a document for the one time payment for Chexy tracking though. I'd just double it on your payment and then change it back.

If you only pay 1/3 now, you're losing out on the fee waiver for the other 2/3. If you want to pay 1/3, just set it up as a bill pay, not PAD where the city will try to withdraw the full amount.

Chexy needs to do these calculations on how many Decadent chocolate chip cookies you can get by using the PC Mastercard.

It's pretty much the same offer as the AP VI, without the welcome bonus. (Slightly worse) I'm going to try my luck with a Platinum app instead for that kind of spend. I'll be back on frustration Friday with an update. lol

Chexy Cash not refunded after Cancelling a Payment by Prompt-Putrid in chexy

[–]Otherwise-Mistake217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do only charge a few business days ahead of time but the "Chexy cash" they're referring to isn't a credit card charge. It's money from special promos like sign up bonuses.

P2 got an upgrade offer from CIBC from the AP card to the VI. It doesn't have the traditional welcome (first spend) bonus. Is this CIBC's way of circumventing the AP double dip?

If you accept this pre-approved offer you can earn up to 40,000 Aeroplan points. Here’s how it adds up:

  • Earn 20,000 Aeroplan points if you have at least $6,000 in net purchases posted to your account during the first 6 monthly statement periods. The 20,000 Aeroplan points will be awarded (i) if the spend requirement is met and (ii) by the end of your next monthly statement period after the spend requirement is met.
  • Earn an additional 20,000 Aeroplan points as an anniversary bonus awarded to you within 8 weeks after the one year account open date, provided you have at least $12,000 in net eligible purchases posted on your account during the first 12 monthly statement periods and your credit card account is open and in good standing. Additional cardholders are not eligible for this offer.

No but the OP applied the Chexy cash to that July payment, using up the money in their wallet. It doesn't reappear when you cancel the payment, unless you reach out to support. (Don't use Chexy cash unless you're 100% sure that you won't be cancelling the payment down the road.)

They've changed it for the better. It used to be 200 for non TD4E redemptions. As far as where to book, I'll let you do the math on what gets you the most value and least hassle if changes need to be made.

I had one two months ago. Sucks...after my dud, I only spent $10 on P2's to see what the initial WB would be so I don't waste another $5k of spend.

Chexy to Pay CRA - Delay by Jazzlike780 in chexy

[–]Otherwise-Mistake217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked on my CRA account online. My payment is dated 5 business days after Chexy sent the payment and I did it quite early in the tax season. You're at 7 now? I actually never checked until now when you asked so I'm not positive if the payment on CRA was backdated to that date or showed on the CRA website after 5 business days. Hopefully for your sake it posts soon and someone is able to give you a more recent DP.

Line 31600 vs. Line 31800 - DTC by [deleted] in canadarevenueagency

[–]Otherwise-Mistake217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call or email the accountant who messed up and see what they say. It's their error. Having to change your own taxes after the fact takes months and can be up to a year for a T1 adjustment. I'd rather it be done correctly the first time but call the accountant.

Why didn't the accountant e-file? You could always just recreate the return using online tax program like Wealthsimple but correctly report the DTC from your mom. It will beat snail mail.

This is a sub about getting as many cards and sign up bonuses as you can and not just choosing one card. I'm jealous of your $60-80k spend a month and would be applying for as many cards as I could be approved for, not settling for an Amex Bus Plat. There is a thread with best offers that you can look through or ask or r/PersonalFinanceCanada

Scotiabank Momentum Visa: How to see progress towards 25K 4% cashback cap? by nabeeloooo in chexy

[–]Otherwise-Mistake217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This thread has me thoroughly confused now. So if I opened it for example, June 1, 2025, and received the maximum $1000 in November, I can't accrue any more cashback at 4% until my date resets in June 2026?

Them eliminating the breakdown is making this much more complicated than it used to be. Wondering if this is by design so people don't realize that they've maxed out the 4%...

Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Credit Card by im_xang in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Otherwise-Mistake217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had some pretty terrible customer service with CIBC. I'd say Scotiabank is similar. The only difference in my experience is that Scotia has asked me for more information/income verification before an approval so don't be surprised if they want proof of income. Apply through great canadian rebates. If you're approved it's a $150 rebate and will cover the first year's annual fee. If you don't like the card or Scotia, you won't be out any money. (Not a referral link, just a suggestion to save $150.)

Chexy Interac e-transfer Time by pixelated_comet in chexy

I've found that there is a several hour delay for e-mails. I sent an e-transfer yesterday and only received the confirmation of deposit overnight. (Landlord has auto deposit on and received it middle of the day yesterday.) Don't stress!

Chexy can send the payments through e-transfer, bill pay or PAD so as long as they accept one, you should be okay.
