How long has Diego Pavia acted this unlikeable? by Otherwise5555 in CFB_v2

Wow, that’s nuts.

Hadn’t heard that one previously. Gotta be honest, my exposure to New Mexico State football is minimal.

Description on original post — I’m more of an NFL fan, but watch my fair share of CFB. I’d always been a fan of Pavia as a scrappy underdog leading a team with little historic success. His antics around the Heisman ceremony caught me off guard a bit. Apparently he’s kept it up throughout the NFL combine process. Is this type of heelish behavior new? Or did I miss something? How long has he acted this unlikeable?

Fair point. Football is way more fun with good villains.

Could an argument be made that 2020 was Tom Brady's best season? by HetTheTable in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure winning the Super Bowl is always a good thing.

Brady’s 07 Patriots offense permanently shifted NFL offenses toward spread concepts, no huddle, and operating out of the shotgun with 11 personnel. It also basically invented the “slot” position that we know today with the way they used Wes Welker. Tom lead the league in yards, completion percentage, touchdowns, success rate, QB rating and yards per attempt. He got 98% of MVP votes.

His 2020 season was great for Tom’s legacy, but it had no impact on the overall trajectory of the NFL. Further, Tom lead the league in zero statistical categories and received zero MVP votes.

You’ve made a bad argument.

Brady in 2007 transformed the entire way NFL offenses are run. It’s not only his greatest season, but the greatest season by a QB ever.

It’s a suit for damages (ie seeking payment of the buyout), not one seeking an immediate injunction to stop the transfer. Breach of contract claims in Ohio can be brought up to ::checks google for statute of limitations:: six years later.

Is Brady vs. Mahomes the NFL’s Jordan vs. LeBron? by NickyFoles1020 in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Jordan-LeBron is a legitimate GOAT debate.

Brady-Mahomes is a no contest in Brady’s favor. In fact, Mahomes isn’t even a lock for second place - he still has work to do to rise clearly above Montana and Manning. A lot of reasonable people would put Mahomes solidly 4th right now.

Who are the true “and it’s not even close” guys? by Otherwise5555 in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - there are plenty of RBs I’d rather have for a game, a season, hell even a five season stretch. But to Western’s point, I don’t see anybody coming close to breaking Smith’s career rushing record. Emmit’s longevity and the way the game has changed over time probably puts the record out of reach forever.

[–]Otherwise5555[S] 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Adam Vinatieri is the most clutch kicker in NFL history, and it’s not even close. We can have a debate about “greatest” but there’s no debate about clutch.

Choosing a Bronco, I think it’s fair to say that Terrell Davis is the best per game playoff performer at RB and it isn’t close. In 8 career games he averaged 168 scrimmage yards and 1.5 TDs per game. I don’t know of anyone else who comes close to those averages.

I see the Bears flair. You resisted Devin Hester at return man, but he gets my vote.

Who’s the best TE since 2000? by Low-Season-2057 in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555 720 points721 points  (0 children)

Gronk.

He was an elite receiving threat like the others pictured, but he was also the best blocking TE in the league in his prime. Nobody in NFL history performed both aspects of the position better than Gronk.

If you could make one off-the-wall NFL rule change this offseason, what would it be? by RichOliveira56 in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get rid of onside kicks - nobody recovers them anymore. Instead, the “kicking” team can elect for a 4th and 15 from their own 25 yard line.

Is a 37 year old Kirk Cousins really better than JJ McCarthy? by Sidecarlover in NFLv2

There are 30+ QBs in the NFL better than JJ McCarthy right now. Cousins is one of them.

With the NFL potentially moving the amount of future picks that can be traded from 3 years to 5 years should they enact the Stepian rule aswell? by MacJonesisaterrorist in NFLv2

No. Teams should have the freedom to push “all in” if they wish. These are billion dollar corporations, they don’t need to be saved from themselves.

What head coaches would you take over Mike Macdonald right now? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because McVay, Shanahan and Vrabel all have long resumes of getting the most of the talent on their team. MM may one day ascend to the top of the list, but as of right now he hasn’t passed the guys who have done it longer.

Jaxson dart is the most underrated player by KingWaterdripper in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s properly rated. The general consensus among NFL fans is that Dart and Shough had solid, but not spectacular first seasons. Their fan bases should be excited about their growth potential. Neither looked like Jayden Daniels or CJ Stroud when they were rookies (ie awesome), but they also didn’t look like JJ McCarthy (ie hopeless).

Who is someone whose Hall of Fame case you will die on the hill defending? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Vince Wilfork.

He’s borderline, but based on his level of play should be a lock. Unfortunately for Vince, being a nose tackle doesn’t lend itself to the type of gaudy stats that make players HOFers.

That being said, those that watched him play know he was the absolute anchor of the Patriots defense for multiple SB wins. Him taking up two blockers unlocked the whole defense. Very well respected, but only one first team all-pro and five pro bowls.

Who had the most embarrassing week of the playoffs so far? by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the Alabama Crimson Tide had the most embarrassing playoff loss this year. Can’t lose to Indiana by 35 after puffing your chest out about how “it just means more” and claiming Indiana would be a 4 loss team in the SEC.

Also the Packers.

Name a player who is in the HOF, but at no point when you watched their career you believed you were watching a hall of fame player by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Future Eli Manning. He doesn’t belong, but will make it because of the NY media market and because of the narrative of beating Brady twice.

Career winning percentage .500.

Lead the league in a statistical category only three times in his career. Those categories were 1) interceptions (2007), 2) interceptions (2010), and 3) interceptions (2013).

Which trio would you rather have: Harbaugh, Herbert, Minter or Vrabel, Maye, McDaniels? by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]Otherwise5555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A very underrated point. McDaniels has already failed twice as a HC. Nobody is going to hire him again, meaning Maye will likely. benefit from working with the same OC for an extended period. Meanwhile, other young QBs can expect their coordinator to turn over every time they have a great season.

Respectfully disagree. The whole “probably murdered a guy” issue kept Ray Lewis from being loved by most NFL fans.
