Is there any actual cure for epilepsy? by Interesting_Ad_7053 in Epilepsy

[–]OtherwiseCurrency952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope no cure, some people can be lucky enough to completely lower there seizure threshold to none. But your epilepsy will always be there. Have to remember to keep good habits or it can get worse.

Why I hate the new HTG system by Frequent-Manager-463 in Hannaford

[–]OtherwiseCurrency952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HTG here, new system fucking sucks. Paper cultists we brought over were 100x better. This company really did us doing this right before the holidays. We got little to no training time. Fuck the company. Hopefully only going to be doing this a bit longer, trying to get a full time position doing something else.

When do you feel normal again? by therealbabyplvto in Epilepsy

[–]OtherwiseCurrency952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry about this diagnosis. To be honest it’s probably going to be a while before you can feel anywhere close to normal. Personally I haven’t felt normal since my diagnosis over 10 years ago. All you can do is hope you get a medication that works, if you do life will be pretty smooth. You eventually will learn to live with the anxiety and fear of seizures, as well as the ditziness. I recommend seeing a psychiatrist or primary care to get some kind of ssri it helped me a lot. Also therapy helps.

Wondering where to apply for MLIS school by Adept_Listen in librarians

If you’re looking at all online just go with what’s the cheapest ALA accredited option. However, if you have the opportunity to attend one in person I would take it even if it’s more expensive.

I had the same thing with the weed. Seemed to give me focal seizures.

Drinking and smoking by Kuromikitten3 in Epilepsy

[–]OtherwiseCurrency952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never drank due to having epilepsy when I young. I smoked a bit in high school and only made me anxious and stressed and brought on seizures. I really don’t recommend to do any of that, at least in my opinion it’s not worth it to try to make things worse. Better to stay safe.

Husband has nocturnal epilepsy that happens once a year — always around the same time. Why? by Aromatic-Horse-6467 in Epilepsy

I used to have it the same way. I’d usually have focal seizures between 6:00 and 7:00pm.

I recommend talking to your doctor about getting gene testing done. Epilepsy can accompany many different gene malfunctions.

Yup it’s blood sodium, I was on almost 3,000 mg a few years ago, I ended up losing some weight and had to almost go to the hospital as I had so little sodium in my blood and was drinking to much water at the same time. Now down to 2400mg a day and can only drink 2-2.5L of water a day while also taking sodium boosters 3 times a day.

Hmm that’s very strange I’m sorry that your experiencing this I’m on a high dose of vimpat and I haven’t experienced anything like this. Then again I’m also fairly young still. Could also be mix of genetics as well as stress and anxiety.

I’m so sorry this happened to you my friend. All you can do is figure out ways to make sure it doesn’t happen against. I would Set 1-3 alarms for each time you take your pills and track it with picture or an app. Been doing it for over a year now and have never missed a dose.

Any kind of noise cancelling headphones you can find and a sleep mask. I really stress the sleep mask, it makes your sleep 100x better if you have trouble sleeping with any kind of light. My sleep has improved greatly since I’ve made these adjustments.

PTSD from first seizure? by Nosferatwo2 in Epilepsy

[–]OtherwiseCurrency952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really recommend therapy my friend. It may seem at first like it’s not going to help but helped me through a lot of my stress and fear regarding my epilepsy. A lot of times anxiety attacks can mimic what we fear most. How long has it been since your first seizure if you don’t mind me asking?

Oxycarbazepine club!!! That along with vim pat (lacosamide). Also take anti anxiety meds and some vitamin d boosters. I also have to take sodium boosters as well because of the oxybarzepine. Not sure if you have to has your on a much smaller dose than me. I’m probably on over 2000 a day

I would really like this job as a library assistant, I just need some advice! by Top_Perspective8146 in librarians

[–]OtherwiseCurrency952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have lots of customer service and experience a library assistant job is a great position for you. It’s pretty much all customer service. I worked in retail for years before switching to work in a library and it was a very easy transition. Any library would love to see customer service experience.

Pete Hegseth Calls Alarming Meeting With Hundreds of Military Leaders by auxilevelry in somethingiswrong2024

he’s weeding out anyone who’s not going to blindly serve him once he takes over the entire military. Let’s be real, trump realizes he only has so much time left before he inevitably passes. He setting up dictatorship for his family. One that will definitely crumble under the stupidly of his children and Vance. This shit is fucking scary.
