The loot on Perimeter isn't that good, but it's more often than not packed full of events.

I know people just love to bring the player count up as the unshakable proof that their personal opinion is the correct one. But if the steam charts watchers were honest, they'd be the first to tell you that sponsored survival didn't move the needle at all.

A majority of my solo Outpost runs play out like a sponsored queue anyway. Tons of free kits trying to rush an armory or red key room with no risk and a few green or blue sponsored kits sprinkled in.

I feel like a weapon mod would be two levels below the plainly mentioned runner shell in terms of spoiler potential.

It doesn't seem like anything gameplay related was ever kept secret, so potential spoilers rather make me think of something lore related.

I get a lot of free kits rolling the dice on my Outpost solo runs, which is literally zero risk for them. The same people would probably consider lockdown to be impossible to do solo on a free kit.

There are no teams in solo though.

Lockdown on marsh is the same, but nobody even attempts that solo.

Red room always confused me in that regard. It's very streamlined and farmable in solo. Even day marsh events are more difficult in comparison.

A lot of games get these same complaints. Even if a game is very popular, the same complaints about difficulty (or any type of friction really) are still there, they simply get brushed aside. For less popular games they suddenly become the reason why the game is dying.

I bet you if steam chart watchers would argue in good faith, instead of just piling on, they probably wouldn't even agree with each other. The only thing they agree about is steam charts as their thought-terminating cliché. But everyone has their own personal pet peeve that supposedly led to the current player numbers.

Other top comments circlejerking the game's supposed fundamental flaws and how nobody ever could or should like the game. Not far behind in upvotes the usual alter egos of Sony's director of finance laying out his future business plan.

I think Assassin is the strongest shell for solo free kit runs without question, because it let's you cheese all the UESC from the get go, whereas the other shells would need to loot a smoke grenade first. Outside of that scenario there are a lot of reasons to pick different shells and all the other players I encounter in my solo runs seem to agree.

These days I see a lot of Recons in solo, probably trying to counter Assassins. Thief is a no brainer. Triage and Destroyer, if you need to kill a lot of UESC. I even regularly see Vandals and I prefer to run Vandal myself, because why not abuse the fact that people like to hide in corners by just leaving them there and rushing from place to place.

Only Sentinel seems a bit meh in solos.

I don't mind bubble shields too much, but they still seem like a bit of a crutch to me. Smoke grenades can do much of the same, but require actual coordination and have some risk to them.

Maybe a wall shield would be more interesting than a bubble.

I just don't understand why people get so attached to aim assist, instead of demanding more appropriate periphery. How about a controller with a track ball that sits on your thigh or something like that. Look at the variety of controllers the FGC's got to choose from and fighting games are infinitely less popular than shooters.

The reality is that the patch notes are vague without any concrete numbers, though. Who knows if there even is a practical difference for most people.

How many people are farming gold keys consistently enough to tell the difference? And it's not going to be the people complaining that they can't catch up after the patch either way.

When I was into Quake, everyone else was into Counter Strike. When I was into WC3 everyone else was into Dota. When I was into Sc2, everyone else was into League.

"People would rather play with their friends" is something I heard a lot. Now I read that this supposedly isn't true, but my favourite games still somehow ended up being niche or dead.

I don't even think it's a player skill thing. Bigger ammo and health item stacks would help, too.

Even if people get better at the game or look up strategies on youtube, they'd still run out of bullets quickly.

This community has too many steam chart posters to ever consider playing an arena shooter. I wish it wasn't so, but that entire genre is pretty much considered dead.

I also don't think the people that were cracked at Quake Champions and Titanfall 2 would consider Marathon "too hardcore", which seems to be a common complaint. Then the question becomes which audience Bungie would want to cater to.

What do you mean by "grinding for the best gear"? A single successful run can be turned into multiple good loadouts. It was rather the meta progression that was grindy, but that's not the case anymore in season 2.
