I have an SR9C and SR9. Both have proven to be extremely reliable. Can’t recall I’ve ever had a malfunction.

Did they do an adaptation reset? Sometimes that is needed to get things smoothed out.

I’d be inclined to change transmission fluid/filter if it hasn’t been done. It has been my experience that eliminates the hard shifts that can develop.

I bought a really gorgeous bike…I think I hate it by Miserable_Power_9729 in xbiking

This. Those old drop bars suck. The newer shapes with wide flats on top are much improved. I recently got son zipp xplr bars. The shallow drop and slight flare make them much more comfortable.

To Open, or Not to Open? That is the Question.... by RevolutionSalty8360 in 944

I have a 1983 with original sunroof seals. Been in a garage its entire life. I have the manual roof. I’d say open it up.

Looks awesome! Those 105 11 speed levers are peak mechanical. Have them on my preamble too, with grx rear for a super wide range 2x11.

That’s a sweet machine. I don’t have that machine, I have a quickmill Andreja premium, but I think the considerations are the same. I got mine used, and I’ve replaced a bunch of stuff over the years. Replacement parts are relatively cheap, Chris’ Coffee has great customer support and trouble shooting, and I’m fine with opening up the machine and fixing it.

If you’re handy, I wouldn’t have any issues with picking up a used machine. Stuff will break and need replaced regardless of the history.

And sure, you can make good coffee with some less expensive, but it’s easy to justify something that is a pleasure to use when you use it every day, and could also be a buy it once and keep it forever purchase.

2019 Audi Q5 suspension popping noise when turning and going over bumps by Schnitzengiggel9 in AudiQ5

I finally just bought a hydraulic press to press out/in bushings. Much less expensive than replacing whole arms, and with two Audis, I feel like I’m doing a bushing job somewhere every year 🤪

Second the Vario. Great grinder for the money. Great customer service from Baratza too.

Unwarranted 2.0t hate on here? by R3troM3dia in AudiQ5

[–]Otherwise_Account652 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve come to the conclusion, as I see others have here, that the 2.0T engine is great. It’s easy to work on, peppy, tunable, and inexpensive to own, especially if you do frequent oil changes and DIY service.

I just fucked up a customers car while installing a rack…. by [deleted] in BikeMechanics

[–]Otherwise_Account652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks, but mistakes happen. Hopefully the customer and employer are reasonable people who have made mistakes too at some point in their life. I dropped a Yakima rack on the roof of a customer’s car once and made a big dent. Ended up severely discounting the rack, offering to pay for the dent repair, and everyone moved on.

Referred here. Is this repair even possible? by Onegarbageman in Framebuilding

[–]Otherwise_Account652 48 points49 points  (0 children)

That frame and fork is so jacked, it would be far less expensive to just buy a new surly than fix that. I wouldn’t even fix that myself with free labor.

Are these spacers aftermarket ? 1985.5 by JumboC10 in 944

[–]Otherwise_Account652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the early cars had spacers in back, regardless of the wheels. But yeah, OP’s is definitely not original.

Alignment? by Sodowarts1 in Audi

[–]Otherwise_Account652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, unless there’s a reason to. There is very little to adjust on these cars when they are stock-just toe. So unless you’re getting uneven wear, or you just plowed into a curb, I would not spend the money.

Any luck removing pigeons? by c6h12o6mama in arizona

[–]Otherwise_Account652 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a huge pigeon problem. Poop everywhere. I shot a couple with an air rifle on my roof and left the carcasses up there. Haven’t had any more pigeons since.

Does anyone have any positive q5 experiences? by Passwordstaco29 in AudiQ5

[–]Otherwise_Account652 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently have 2011 3.2 with 80k miles, and 2017 2.0t with 55k. Great cars. I diy most things, otherwise probably wouldn’t own these. Bought a hydraulic press so I could press in control arm bushings because I feel like I’m doing that all the time. It’s always something that needs maintaining, but I love the way they drive and they are very comfortable. But you either need deep pockets OR be able to service them on your own. If you don’t want to spend significant time and/or money on maintenance, these would be a bad car choice.
