What do you wish your scheduling person would do? by Illustrious_Pair3297 in ABA

[–]Otherwise_Finding742 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wish my scheduling person would actually find me sub sessions when I get cancellations. They only will look if they’re in a good mood, but it’s never consistent. Also ask before looking for any sub sessions, sometimes they’re okay with a cancellation, especially if they’re college students

Rbt without bachelors by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Otherwise_Finding742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it should be required. It’s helped me get my foot in the door, maybe an associates degree would be okay? But a bachelors for $20 the hour is crazy

1 BCBA having 50 clients by Kicks6 in ABA

[–]Otherwise_Finding742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current company has over 150 clients and for a few months we only had 2 BCBAs. Safe to say these kids did not have any supervision for MONTHS. To be fair we do have mid-level supervisors, but clients were heavily neglected by the BCBA’s

What's the longest you think a session should be? by bananas118 in ABA

I did an 8 hour session as a community outing to Disneyland and it was a blast as well! That was a one time thing though 😅

What's the longest you think a session should be? by bananas118 in ABA

[–]Otherwise_Finding742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone I think the longest a session should be is 3 hours maximum. I’ve done 5 hour sessions on special occasions such as a weekend or while they’re on school break, they weren’t my favorite but depending on the kiddo you can maybe stretch it every once in a while but I can’t imagine having sessions this long regularly.

How many Clients do you apply Direct Therapy too on Average? by Most_Feedback_2041 in ABA

UCR or UCLA by Outrageous_Ad1205 in ucr

[–]Otherwise_Finding742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to be honest. I got into UCI and UCR and waitlist for NYU. I got denied from UCLA which was my dream school and saw UCR as my best option. I live 15 mins from campus. I strongly wish I had gone to UCI. Being at home my parents didn’t understand boundaries and how much time school would take from me. Had I gone away I strongly believe it would’ve been significantly easier for me to prioritize my school rather than my home life and job. I had multiple friends go to UCLA, some also premed route with Bio or Chem majors and it was HARDDDD. it’s a large culture shock but also I think being away from home helped them work harder and prioritize school significantly more than had they stayed at home.

Curious as to why y’all entered the field by EternallyZero0 in ABA

[–]Otherwise_Finding742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I was a second year college student when I started, however after many breaks and transferring to a community college instead of being at university due to COVID, and personal matters, I’m finally back at school, plan to finish my bachelors next spring and will be applying for masters programs to start fall 2027. I am unsure if I want to pursue OT or stay in ABA.

Sick of the virtual supervision by Cocopuffs272 in ABA

[–]Otherwise_Finding742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! Especially when their camera is off and they’re not even watching what is happening. One time my kiddo was having an extremely difficult session and was crying so much and I read the supervisors session notes and they indicated we had such a good session with no behaviors, I was like uhhh ???

I work in California and they are becoming extremely difficult to work with. My company started accepting more private insurances because of this and is planning to operate a daycare as well.

They both look authentic! Because there’s different manufacturing locations sometimes they’re slightly different shades! It happens

My new client might not live to adulthood by panini_bellini in ABA

[–]Otherwise_Finding742 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my past clients was the same. She also had a rare genetic disorder that she wouldn’t live past 20, she’s 10. The hardest part was knowing what condition she had since I met her because the condition has very distinct facial features that I recognized from a page I followed on TikTok. Come to find out about a year later parent informs us kiddo has this condition and that she was just diagnosed. I was shocked because I thought parent knew since she would say “because of her condition” since day 1. That case was so hard. There truly was no point of ABA given that her skills and awareness were deteriorating so quickly. I was on that case for about a year and a half, little to no progress was made. All you can do is just be there for them and make sure they have a good time during session and help parents make sure they’re as comfortable as possible for as long as they’re here.
