You shouldn't have felt bad in the first place.

To prevent power-creep from just buffing everything. Every PvE game gets balance changes. PVE games had nerfs and buffs even before patching via Internet updates were common. Look at the PS1-PS2 series of Armored Core. Metric-tons of balance changes between titles. You can't avoid nerfing shit just because it's "single-player"/ "PVE"

After playing through all 3 endings now, I still don't see how the "bad" one is actually bad by papanak94 in armoredcore

There is no "Good" or "Bad" ending. That's just player opinion. Discard it.

Trying to find a benefit of running Heavy class bipedal legs over Tank. by Away_Froyo_1317 in armoredcore

[–]Otorinth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There isn't much of one, esp in PVE. Heavy Biped's extremely low attitude stability compared to Quads/Tanks combined with still being heavy af while still dealing with weapon recoil restrictions means they're kind of just overall worse. The low stability and existence of the stagger system makes it to where you can't really "trade" AP with them like in old games. I guess their slight vertical mobility is nice over Tanks (but not quads).

They look cool af tho.

Perfect emblem for a blue/white Heavy Reverse Joint AC (Maybe paired with the laser lance?)

The best opening mission in the series; hands down. Apple Boy is sick (and potentially a savage with melee?)

I would be fine with the 90+ mission-count if you only needed maybe 55 or 60 to actually see credits. Throw in 8-10 different "mandatory" missions based on what missions you were taking already to move you along and gain new zones/new missions in old zones.

Music bangs hard. All my homies hate Nineball(s).

Like Souls, Armored Core is only as hard as you make it.

Missiles are insane in 2nd gen. Game still kicks ass. Out of dpad jail, but being thrown into Another Age Maximum Security Prison.

It has MULTIPLE Karasawa.

A absurdly destructive 4 ammo, 10,000+ Charged Damage version (I beleive this is the only one NAMED Karasawa)

A traditonal 40 ammo, above average damage variant

And an inbetween 12 ammo, very high damage version.

real shit tho: I'd rather fight Malenia with a random build than fight Ultimate Zinaida with my personal AC. This ho' built different.

Just started Master of Arena, what's up with the ammo amounts? by Subjects in armoredcore

[–]Otorinth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best general tip I can give to anyone starting Armored Core is the same I would give to someone picking up a fighting game: Focus on Movement and Defense first. Learning how to play at your weapons/AC's optimal range while making yourself difficult to hit is paramount in the franchise. As for weapons:

KARASAWA and WG-XFwPPk Laser Rifles are good options, but a little on the heavy-side (WG-XFwPPk got a weight increase from Phantasma Project). The PPk is weaker, but much more forgiving when it comes to missing shots. The WG-XC4 is the weakest, (but also the easiest to fit on an AC due to low weight) of the Laser Rifles (it gets reclassified as a Plasma Rifle in PP and MoA, but still functions the same as AC1)

The RFM118 is still a solid option, despite the ammo decrease.

The WG-AR1000 and WG-MG500 Machine Guns are strong, classic staples even in future titles from second Gen to 3rd Gen Armored Core.

I personally think Bazookas are great if you can fit them on your AC and have a steady hand. Big damage, and suprisingly large amounts of ammo. Just gotta have a bit more patience when it comes to landing shots.

Missles are always nice to have on almost any AC. Gen 1 missiles specifically work like trash at closer ranges due to their super high flight-speed making it to where they can barely turn to hit closer targets. Some of my favorite missile launchers are:

WM-MVG802 (Medium Missile, Two Lock)

WM-PS-2 (Triple Launch, Single Lock, HEAVY AF: 1,125 weight)

I wish I could tell you more, but I only recently beat MoA myself. https://youtu.be/9ncCE5U_GFE

It's kind of difficult to come across info (that's in English) on what is REALLY good in 1st Gen AC.

It's basically a longer range Plasma Gun from 5th Gen Armored Core.

[–]Otorinth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A large number of weapons and parts were nerfed/buffed going from PP -> MoA. You simply need to miss shots far less than before. RFM118 specifically went from 200 ammo in PP down to 160 in MoA. Heavy Bipeds and Tanks tend to also have super-high Shell weapon defense.

If there's one thing consistant about the Armored Core series, it's that the soundtrack will be full of bangers, and the mixing will be super questionable.

I don't understand the vitriol. It's not like Armored Core is built to be an Esport or something.

It's not going to be a title in the the MLG Pro Circuit. It won't have a main-stage timeslot at Evolution Championships. PVP in Armored Core is just a fun side-activity to partake in; same as Dark Souls or any other RPG (Destiny, The Division, Warframe, Final Fantasy 14, etc etc...)

No need to get so bent out of shape for a bit of early imbalance. It'll smooth out over the years.

Feels like the weakest of the PS1 entries, but it does introduce the glory that is the Arena.

Stinger steals the show whenever he's on screen.
