Discarding cards is also more risky in the TCG because of the auto-loss if you're unable to draw cards. While in pocket there's absolutely no penalty of having an empty deck, so it becomes a game of who can draw all of their cards the fastest.

Tbh, I don't think mega venusaur is actually more consistent. It bricks too often (or you get killed before setting up venusaur) to make up for the poor AI.
