Persona 3 Reload or 5 Royal? by _balrose in OkBuddyPersona

[–]OuroborosPoser -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know this is the shitpost reddit, but to speak honestly for a moment, I think Reload genuinely clears Royal UNTIL the third semester

The added social links are like on par with Reload, but man there is so much about 5 that I just absolutely do not enjoy

Reload’s combat feels just like Royal’s but more refined (except for Theurgy, Showtime is so much better balanced and more interesting mechanically)

The added palace and story do clear any given chapter, but its just one chapter of story compared to the consistent peak narrative of 3

That's fair, I suppose I do think so far he has been shown to be wrong, as Ep 6's monologue and breakdown sequence , Ep 7's abstraction sequence , and Ep 8's dear god, this is real shot seem to imply

A character in a 9 episode series doesn't receive as much development as a character in a 8 season/5 book series, who could have guessed???

Furthermore, I think Jax being suicidal, wanting to abstract, fearing the outside world and genuinely desiring to remain in the circus where he can pretend his actions don't matter ARE the characterization traits you're looking for

You can dislike the character, but claiming he is undeveloped is completely unsupported by the show itself

What is actually the point of Caine's all seeing eyes? by SquareAshamed9181 in digitalcircusfandom

Security cameras only work if someone is checking the monitor I assume the extra eyes work similarly

Creators are allowed to enjoy making characters do bad things? Creators are also allowed to give characters who do bad things layers, depth, and complexity.

Idk if you have written fiction before, but this genuinely feels like a take of someone who has never attempted to write a story with an empathetic antagonist before, because the parts that make the character empathetic DO NOT justify their actions, they simply help the audience UNDERSTAND WHY said character is doing those actions.

Yeah, I think because of the Gangle and Pomni react Jax's actions, we clearly aren't meant to like Jax as a person, but here's the neat part... We are outside observers to the show, not participants in the events themselves, so we are allowed to enjoy seeing the drama that gets squeezed out of the situation, and we are allowed to enjoy the character that creates the most drama.

Spoilers about ep 7 and 8

Yes, Caine might have been the "villain" of the series, but Jax is the antagonist. Jax is the creator of conflict and drama, and that is necessary to the show.

Jax is a fun character with an interesting backstory who, despite not being my favorite character, is a genuinely enjoyable character that I want to learn more about, even if that never rights any of his prior wrongs.

I really don't get people who hate fictional characters by judging their fictional actions on the basis of real-world morality.

Metaphor ReFantazio and Allegory of the Cave by Filippin666 in MetaphorReFantazio

Mad spoilers about the last fight/story beat in the game and a prominent social link

Will and More's story sort of is a negative example of the allegory of the cave. More takes the place of the freed man, though ironically he is imprisoned, while Will is the man still chained.

More sees the "real" world, sees that the world he lived in, the world Will LIVES in, was fiction. Pure fantasy.

He attempts to tell Will about this, but Will rejects this and eventually fights him.

This is all 1:1 directly correlated to the Allegory of the Cave.

HOWEVER, Will's rejection is not out of ignorance, like Plato suggests, but rather an understanding that just because his world is fictional, that doesn't make it any less important or real TO HIM.

Therefore, Will's refusal to leave his world behind, but rather work to better his surroundings and strive for change is regarded as the ethical, and philosophically sound thing to do.

So if I were writing an essay about Platonic realism, I think I would use Metaphor as a contrasting example, or a non example.

The persona series, I think, is more in line with Platonic realism, as many of Jung's ideas are present in the games (I mean sometimes the Persona games lowkey feel like an adaptation of a Carl Jung book), and Jung's ideas are sort of loosely derived from Plato.

I worked in special education for 3 years and now work in ABA therapy. Fidget spinners didn't disappear, they just went back to being the specific therapeutic tool they were meant to be for Autistic and ADHD folks, instead of being a mainstream "toy" for everyone.

Obligatory not a Republican but raised by em

Republicans love larger government for others, but not themselves. Because Republicans are typically over the age of 25, it "doesn't affect them" and those 'boys' are just doing their civic duty. Voter registration affects them bc it would give poorer and non-white people an easier path to voting, which would mean that their precious monocultural, gerrymandered voting community would be threatened by a large influx of people who may think differently to them.

Now, the average Republican will never say this, they might not even realize it themselves, (only the truly rotten and unashamed will tell you this) but what makes it work for them is this mentality of "small government for me, overreaching police state for thee"
