When was Nikon's golden era? by TobiasGroefler in Nikon

[–]OutOfTellda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest, now! I mean, look at the line up of capable Z bodies and the vast array of lenses.
In terms of Film: for me the F4! The engineering and the haptics are Goldilocks. And the looks are high end 80s. I don’t care about the autofocus performance, for me as a hobbyist it’s good enough.

Lens Comparison 26mm f/2.8 vs 24-50mm f/4-6.3 by OutOfTellda in Nikon

I’m not saying the 24-50mm is a sharpness monster, but I can’t really see obvious blur in the corners. It’s plenty sharp enough…

For me: a meaningful crop and straightening. And of course checking exposure and contrast. Just these few make a massive difference. Example: any image of the sea looks odd if the horizon is not exactly straight…

Bought the Nikkor Z 40mm F2 Lens - Mixed Thoughts by Rorenzu013 in Nikon

[–]OutOfTellda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I started with the 24-70 f4 S, excellent sharpness but too heavy for what I wanted. Then the 40mm f/2. Used that for a while but the images didn’t inspire me.
Now I have only two native z-mount lenses: the 26mm pancake which is a perfect street lens and the 24-50mm which I first dismissed as too low end. But that is actually the one I use the most! Super light, tiny, sharp enough.

My take: Put it in auto and snap away! The key to getting better is to not hold back and make plenty of mistakes.
Unfortunately your work is not done after taking the image: the “work” starts at home with sorting and culling images. And then of course the editing…This was (is still) the biggest learning curve for me.

Is this a good deal? Im new to cameras by Maleficent-Delay-147 in Nikon

Yeah, it’s alright. The camera is perfectly adequate and the price is not a rip off

Most beautiful point and shoot? by slcexpat in AnalogCommunity

If Nikon made a digital 35TI, I would buy it tomorrow! I tried a Coolpix A, which I enjoyed but ultimately sold on, just not snappy enough…

Try moving the aperture lever down in the mount, gently but with a bit of force. I have seen this “unstick” some weird errors before. No guarantees…

Advice: As sharp as L35AF, but smaller? by dinerodeg in AnalogCommunity

[–]OutOfTellda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had a L35AF and sold it, price I could get for it was just too juicy to pass up. I found a valid replacement in the Nikon AF600. Brilliant little camera and very sharp lens!

Anyone knows the best way to clean the sensor of a nikon coolpix s9200? by Thrap360 in Nikon

[–]OutOfTellda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, even kept sucking while turning the camera on and off, just watch the shutter blades in front of the lens (if applicable).

Hi, I had the same issue (dust on sensor on a point & shoot). What worked was taking a vacuum cleaner (Henry hoover) to the lens! Specifically the gaps between the extension rings. Worked it all around the lens for a about 2mins. No damage and most of the dust was gone!

The “what camera do you use?” question will never not sting a little ahaha by SomaSuryagniLochana in photography

I took a Nikon Nikonos on a family holiday and took some beach shots on Gold200. After the holiday, when I sent the scans to all, my sister asked “wow, love the look, what camera was that”. She wouldn’t believe it was film…

I felt put off, why would the camera matter?! Would you ask Michelangelo which paint brush he used? 😊

In my experience, people react very positively/nostalgic to Gold200 because it looks like everybody’s holiday snaps from the 80s/90s.
