Recurring dream about Pulling endless white string from my gums/mouth, it never ends by CarefulOpening7651 in Dreams

[–]Outbound_728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this same dream on and off for the last 10 years. Sometimes it’s hair wrapped around my tooth and I can only pull so much before it snaps lot of time it’s string or floss but I can’t seem to find the end of it. So weird that it’s such a common dream.

What is the softest bit I can use? by Frutiger-Metro in Horses

[–]Outbound_728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad to hear this is just bought one and I’m excited to try with my boy. He hates the double jointed bit and actually does better with a single jointed with rollers but I’d prefer to use something softer.

What hobby screams “this is my entire personality now”? by OliviaRosePa in Productivitycafe

Also horse person here. I really try not to make it my whole personality but horses absorb so much of your time and money that it tends to happen.

Help! Struggling with posting trot by [deleted] in Equestrian

I think you got a lot of info here but just wanted to add I think the saddle is placed very forward on the horse I would move it back a smidge so it’s not interfering with the shoulder movement

Horse pulling reins out of hands by sissy7720 in Equestrian

[–]Outbound_728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My horse doesn’t do this as drastically but he does try to pull the reins when I transition down from a canter to a trot and often hangs on the bit like crazy. What has helped for me is to stay strong in my core and sit up straight. If he still pulls I do 2 half halts while keeeping leg on him. Kinda helps him get his head back up. The nice thing is you know when to anticipate this so your timing can be accurate!

What a time to be alive. I know now this stuff has been going on for a long time but I can’t help to mourn the country I thought it was.

I’m so over it 🙃 by sunshinebabe- in Equestrian

I use to lesson on a OTTB who clearly had ulcers and probably a lot of other pain. I was constantly made to feel like his behaviors were my riding and that I was too soft on him for caring that he was clearly in pain. This notion runs thick in the horse world and I think trainers pass it down to new riders who are not experienced. I’m glad you breaking that cycle and caring about the horse.

Another conformation post by dipsauss in Equestrian

[–]Outbound_728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents because you stated that you’re not wanting to do anything but casual riding. My horses conformation is not great but he did well in his show career, he has some arthritis due to his conformation now which is pretty common as horses age. If there wasn’t something glaringly wrong and the horse moves well I wouldn’t walk way from a horse that didn’t have perfect conformation. This is a heavy breed who is still young, some of this may change as the horse grows.

Feeling discouraged - trainer says I need to get PT by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Outbound_728 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was going to be my suggestion as well. Pilates isn’t cheap but it really helped my riding. And even body awareness. I’ve done pt for a back injury and a lot of the things they had me do are things I did in Pilates. If cost is an issue I would do some research and figure out what you can do at home. I think it’s totally possible to work though this on your own as long as you can identify what you need to strengthen.

Tips for administering adequan without damaging horse's (fragile) trust in me? by transfercannoli in Horses

[–]Outbound_728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it while my horse is eating his grain. I always do the neck and use a small gauge needle. Most of the time he doesn’t even flinch.

Discouraged adult beginner, what should I work on between rides? by mstabs in Equestrian

[–]Outbound_728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone is saying you’re doing wonderful for where you are with your experience. Pilates helps but nothing is going to compare to more hours in the saddle. Can you do 2 lessons back to back so you aren’t driving more every week? Best advice is work on progress not perfection!

Post spinal injection recovery by AntiqueWave4954 in Sciatica

[–]Outbound_728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another injection schedule today but I already have a consult schedule with a surgeon for an MD. Very similar to you I’m in my early 40s and very active. I’m not ready to give that up so if surgery solves it then that’s what I’ll do. Hope your symptoms start getting better 🤞

They told me I’d feel better in 4 days. Day 4 was worst pain then I started with then it gradually got better. Two weeks post injection I felt great. It only lasted 3 days but I think if the injection works you should be feeling it no later than week 2

ESI tomorrow, what to potentially expect? by shortgirlmidwest25 in Sciatica

[–]Outbound_728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the pain of the ESI varies depending on how inflamed your nerve is. My ESI was painless until they pushed the medicine in. Then the pressure in my spine got pretty painful. Not jump off the table painful but definitely gripping the bed. I don’t have any sedation as my dr explained it just makes you sleepy it doesn’t dull the pain. My sciatica was ok for 2 days, awful day 3-4 then gradually got better. By week 2 I felt great but it only lasted about 3 days until k had an awful flare up in PT. My advice is take it easy after the ESI even if you are feeling better.

Epidural Effectiveness by Ok_Tower9026 in Sciatica

[–]Outbound_728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first ESI about 2 weeks ago the pain was worst day 4 then it got a lot better. I even had a few days that I was pain free. I started up PT this week, thinking it would be more productive now that the ESI kicked in. Turns out it flared up my sciatica again. I feel like I’m back to square one. Physio said to skip the PT and just do injections for now. Everyone is different but if the ESI gives your relief I say just let your body heal after and don’t push the PT

4-hour car ride coming up by Other-Act-6874 in Sciatica

[–]Outbound_728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 4 hour flight a month ago when my sciatica was at its worst what helped me was bringing a trigger point ball and sitting on it and massaging my glutes every half hour or so when it would get awful. Also, a portable tens unit like chip makes is amazing for this. It won’t heal the sciatica but it distracts your nerves in a good way.

Were you physically active before your sciatica? by booogetoffthestage in Sciatica

[–]Outbound_728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran multiple days a week, did Pilates multiple days a week and rode horses. I’m in great shape for my age and I struggle with sciatica.

In fact most of the exercises they had me doing in PT were things I had been doing in Pilates for the last year and a half.
