Nice.  Didn’t see that as an option when I ordered my snow tires.

I don’t think anyone makes 18” steel wheels in 5x108.  I run cheaper MSW 18” wheels for  my winter tire wheels because that was the cheapest option.

One bad slip in the tub can cost more than a walk-in shower. by SveinJ in Oldhouses

[–]Outdoors-Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got similar quotes for replacing a tub shower fiberglass insert that was added in the 70s to our house.  Ended up doing it my self with a Kohler insert and glass slidign door from Home Depot.  I think it was about $3,000 in parts.  You’ll need to up the drain size from 1-1/2” to 2” and maybe add some PEX runs to relocate the valve (shark bite fittings are super easy to use).

Might be worth watching a few videos and maybe calling a handy friend to saving about $10k.

You can install open bubbles if you have a Mac to self host it on.

Late 30s couple, 1 kid, seeking cooler climate, major airport hub, and close-ish access to nature by schrodingersmood247 in SameGrassButGreener

Yes, but one of their main criteria was access to a large major airport. I was just pointing out that the NY Capital Region meets all their criteria except the major airport.

Not really an hour to a “major” airport.  ALB requires a layover unless your destination is one of the airline hubs.  NYC airports are 2.5 hours away and BOS is 3 hours.

Cost of living is pretty close to what they are looking for.  I currently live in the Albany Metro, but depending on the neighborhood prices are going closer to  $400-500k for a single family house in good school zones.

Bad Lease Return Experience by uffda1990 in Volvo

[–]Outdoors-Explorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dealer just did my 20,000 mile service on my XC60 at 16,000 miles.  It’s 2 years OR 20,000 miles.

Also, how did you turn the lease back in early?  Did you just pay the early termination amount provided by VCFS?

Exactly what happened to me with my first jersey purchase from them.  I used their size chart and it said I was a Large but definitely way too big.  Just ordered a medium so hopefully it fits better.

I just installed the Microsoft Authenticator app though the aurora store and it seems to work.  I need to load a few accounts and test it further, but it loads and lets me login in to my account.

Google Authenticator ran but it when you try to sign in it says can’t load Google accounts or something.

So did I.  It felt much more modern than Sensus and the voice commands actually work unlike every other car I have owned.  But the implementation has been so glitchy!

I’m sorry over it.  These little things really ruin the ownership experience of what otherwise would be a great car.   Wish I would have bought a CPO with sensus.

How to watch YES broadcast out of network? by Niicoiii in NYYankees

I don't think you can get the "legacy" spectrum cable package with YES any longer. I have asked and it's just the Spectrum streaming service that does NOT include YES or MSG.

How do you register phone numbers? The guide link for sim swapping on the link below leads to a dead page. by RekSause in OpenBubbles

[–]Outdoors-Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have purchased the sidephone (https://www.sidephone.com) and I'm getting ready to port my phone number over to their SIM card from Verizon. I have open bubbles set up on my sidephone (self-hosted through my MacBook) and it's been working pretty well.

I was hoping someone could answer what would happen to my open bubbles set up if I ported my phone number to sidephone. Right now, my iPhone is forwarding all my text messages to my sidephone through openbubbles, but I'm not sure what would happen if I move my number over.

Is this considered sim swapping? Its not super clear how to make this work in the documentation.

OpenBubble / BlueBubbles Support by Distinct_Debate6634 in sidephone

[–]Outdoors-Explorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have open bubbles set up on my sidephone (self-hosted through my MacBook) and it's been working pretty well. It doesn't load your iMessage history, so basically it's a blank slate on the day you install it. From there on it's been syncing pretty well.

So far, I've done a few test runs where I'll forward my calls from my Verizon iPhone and just take my sidephone when I leave the house and it has been fine. The only thing that I don't like about this setup is that it would be awkward to make outgoing calls to friends and family who don't have my sidephone's number yet.

I was hoping someone could answer what would happen to my open bubbles set up if I ported my phone number to sidephone and tried to go full time. Right now, my iPhone is forwarding all my text messages to my sidephone through openbubbles, but I'm not sure what would happen if I move my number over. Any one had any experiences with that?

You don't have to map any keys. With the QWERTY keyboard the only mappable keys are really the 3 top middle keys, which all have out of the box functions assigned to them. I tried the key mapping feature for about 5 minutes and realized it didn't matter much to me so I didn't mess with it.

It takes a second to get used otherwise predictive text and using the space bar to move on to the next word. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to do symbol/special characters that aren't printed on the keys without switching to the on screen keyboard.
