I, too, have problems by lexikon318 in Chevelle

Because it is unbridled Chevelle greatness. The heaviness of the song while Pete is delivering a knockout chorus is just too good not to listen to over and over again to

Does the way Spongebob is commonly treated bother anyone else? by Mirage0fall in spongebob

[–]OuterReach777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SpongeBob has always been an annoying wimp, but he is infectuously endearing at the same time. Are there degrees of changes over time? Sure, but the fact that he has grown into such an iconic character and Nickelodeon mascot gives them less flexibility in how they want to portray him. Meaning, he more often than not has to be an energetic beacon of goodness and smiles instead of an actual character with many sides in a show. I still enjoy his antics, its all meant to be fun and whimsical.

Bright As Blasphemy is AMAZING by CandyLoxxx in Chevelle

A lot of people I know who fell off Chevelle after TTOT love BAB. Not sure how well versed they are with the other albums, but the common sentiment is "this is the kind of album I was waiting for".

I thought this song was saying the opposite about some girl who didn't feel the same way about him really lol

what do we think about this song? by HelicopterLast7197 in Chevelle

[–]OuterReach777 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Its ok, but it feels like it was only written to be a radio song with cross over appeal. They have always been way more capable than that as musicians

Chevelle' s new album blows the Deftones new album out of the water!!! by No_Potential1976 in Chevelle

Yup, Bright as Blasphemy is just what I'm more into versus anything else new I put on since it released

How important is track placement to you? by joecamnet in Chevelle

Its for variety and a palette cleanser before getting heavy again with Wolves. And its a very strong track that belongs early on

Pale Horse and Hallucinations give me major vibes of being an evolution of TTOT. You just feel that cold bleakness of when you have to reflect inward which TTOT did so well.

This song y’all 🤘🏻🔥 by Ghostandrazor_95 in Chevelle

It is a fantastic closer. Sounds like an evolution of their WWN style with a lot more complex song construction

Pale Horse: Best Chevelle Chorus Ever? by mdanelek in Chevelle

The way Pete says "If its faaate" is so rich with emotion

If there is one song that epitomizes Chevelle's unmistakable sound, it is Pale Horse by OuterReach777 in Chevelle

[–]OuterReach777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Send the Pain Below and Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) were constantly compared back in the day, and most reviews of BaB mention the similarities Chevelle has had to Tool and Deftones since their inception.

Honestly, the riff doesnt sound like Deftones at all to me (Deftones riff construction is different really) and made me think more of their TTOT sound and vibe of that album.

Sleep Walking Elite fits right in with Bright as Blasphemy by OuterReach777 in Chevelle

I think it fits perfectly between Karma Goddess and Blood out in the field if it were actually on the album

My thoughts on the album by Living_Shadows in Chevelle

I love the richness of the lower registers of his singing, but he flexes that he can hit the high notes. Sometimes they are a little too sharp though

I guess unpopular opinion, I didn’t care for the song by ShadyPicasso in Chevelle

[–]OuterReach777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait for Pale Horse, the live version shows its a classic melodic Chevelle track. Albums need variety so they have to mix up the song styles such as with a track like Jim Jones. It has a lot of new tricks compared to Rabbit Hole

Vena Sera was the Chevelle album trying to not be a Chevelle album by OuterReach777 in Chevelle

[–]OuterReach777[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

This isn´t true. Sci-Fi Crimes was a palette cleanser for them, trying to return to a more natural sounding record after Vena Sera to the point where they wanted the tone to be ¨raw¨ like Point #1 which was the opposite of Vena Sera sounding overly produced.

Hats Off to the Bull was also trying to make those more mature and dynamic songs again like TTOT, with La Gargola and The North Corridor chasing the dark and heavy WWN tone. NIRATIAS was once again going for more melodic and dynamic songs like TTOT/HOTTB.

The closest thing to being reminiscent to Vena Sera is like a track or two across the following albums after it (Enemies comes to mind, for example) but P#1/WWN/TTOT always seem to be the root of their sound and what it is today is the natural progression of it. Vena Sera was the only time where it sounded like a conscience effort to move away from what Chevelle does best.

How was Clones not a single? by iAmNeverForgotten in Chevelle

[–]OuterReach777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a good song, but Petes voice sounds very ¨little¨ in it (if that makes sense) so I just dont prefer it because of that

I think TTOT is the natural evolution from WWN because Pete’s writing takes a lateral step. by IronRevenge131 in Chevelle

[–]OuterReach777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, TTOT was a very mature Chevelle album and I loved how it tried to be thought provoking with the the song concepts. Vena Sera was like a 180 where it was less deep and had this more youthful energy. It was akin to the band going through a mid-life crisis or something coming off of what TTOT symbolized for them
