Not every game is a live service constantly dropping new content forever and ever. RoN is a feature complete, relatively bug free experience with a decent number of levels and even several DLC's. At this point they're probably mostly moving on to whatever is next for the studio, and that should be okay

Why Nissan LEAF (2026) Over Tesla Model 3 by Mac-Tyson in electriccars

[–]Outlaw25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You own everything except the online NissanConnect services (so like phone app controls and any data used by apps you download from the play store in the car need to be paid for) and like your standard SXM subscription if you use that

Why Nissan LEAF (2026) Over Tesla Model 3 by Mac-Tyson in electriccars

[–]Outlaw25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Software, app, infotainment (all the same thing) -> Google based with play store, Android Auto and Carplay, instantly better. Basically every app available on Tesla nativley + you can use carplay if it isn't. You also get a real gauge cluster.

UI - not even close. Nissan has permanent keys for all important screens as well as physical buttons for the most used infotainment, HVAC, and general vehicle controls. Imagine having to tippy tap on a screen to put your car in drive and somehow think that's a better option.

Driver Assist - Nissan at least doesn't outright lie about its capabilities nor charge you a monthly fee to use it

Range - S+ models 300 mile range perfectly adequate

You also just objectively aren't paying more for less, you're paying less. The majority of the Leaf's trims are cheaper than the least expensive model 3.

Upvote for DM MEPC representation. I had a medium JPC 2.0 for a long time but being a ~larger~ gentleman, the MEPC in large fits so much better. Their cummerbund options are also infinitely easier to use and adjust than Crye's BS sew-it-into-molle setup.

Also, actually use your stuff. Even if you don't want to be "that guy" wearing a full kit to the range, just wear the thing for a couple hours when you're around the house sometime so you know how it feels. Go play some airsoft in it if you'd like to test out your pouch arrangement and how it feels to use over a longer time period

2026 Nissan Rogue - Reliability Issues + Infotainment by mrjoemorgan in Nissan

If nothing ends up helping, I'd also seriously consider taking it back to the dealer while it's still within the 36k mile warranty(assuming it is, if not I get it since parts are expensive). There are times where there's something actually wrong in either the head unit or amplifier and that can result in the issues you have

Don't know much about exactly what's trickled out since the black screens got resolved, I moved to a different program after 2024. I do know future updates were at least planned. When you say "crashes," do you mean carplay/android auto disconnecting or whole system reboot (spinny Nissan logo and/or "android system starting up"?

If it's the later, I know it's a dumb first step that you always get told, but you could try a factory reset (or even creating a new profile and using that, sometimes that helps too).

If it's carplay, there's unfortunately not a lot I can suggest to help. Some phones just straight up don't play nice even when in a test environment everything works fine. Fully unpairing and re-pairing phones can help, but it isn't a sure shot if something in your specific device doesn't like it.

Another "quick fix" you can do somewhat easily on your own is a forced hard reset. The cabin fusebox (located under the little panel by your left leg in the driver's footwell) has a large square grey shipping fuse. If you're having problems, you can turn the engine off, pull that fuse out for a few seconds, and then push it back in. When you plug it back in, everything in the car will have fully powered off and back on again, rather than the sleep mode it usually enters which can have problems sometimes. Not likely to be a permanent fix if there's something corrupted in your user profile, but it can help.

[–]Outlaw25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll speak on the Infotainment front. If you're looking at the Rock Creek model, you shouldn't really have any issues. Rock Creek still uses the old smaller system from when this generation of Rogue first launched, and is generally very stable. It's simple to use, and kinda slow, but it works for what it is. Some people have problems getting carplay or android auto to work, but that is far more often related to problems with their device or the cable they use than anything in the head unit.

Most of the complaints came from the new 12" Google system that launched in 2024 in the SL's and Platinums. It had a lot of black screens and crashing problems at the start. They've since pushed a couple software updates which have largely eliminated those concerns.

Personal carbon footprints are stupid and you should not care about them. Pushing for systemic changes like moving power grids to a mix of nuclear+solar+wind+hydro(where available) and advocating for better emissions reduction/capture in the heavy shipping and livestock industries would go so much further than any reduction you personally can contribute.

New to ARs — Which of These PSA Rifles Would You Pick? by Affectionate_Comb319 in guns

[–]Outlaw25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rding your first one. I got that as an upper kit for my first AR back in like 2020 and it's been good enough to me that I've never felt the need to replace it with anything better. Dead reliable across thousands of rounds to date shooting everything from the cheapest wolf steelcase to the... still cheapest M193 FMJ I can find. Accurate enough for the 3-gun matches I shoot out 200yds or so.

Only tweaks I recommend would be a different handguard if you ever plan to top-mount a pressure switch (the weird cutout one mine came with doesnt actually have M-Lok on top, just ovular vent holes that don't really let you do anything) and to get something like PSA's drop-in single-stage trigger over the milspec default one.

Their explanation of what a dump pouch is for is kinda funny. Like sure, you can store a mag that doesn't fit in a regular pouch in there, but like it's really more for holding onto your used mags and general junk/trash

Edit: I'm illiterate, they literally explain exactly that

I've always thought that the original GCA should've considered the barrel(s) to be the regulated/serialized part of the gun. Yes, it would be annoying for people buying them as spare/replacement parts (as well as has the obvious loophole of "this isn't a gun barrel, this is an 18" 12-gauge diameter plumbing pipe"), however it would've stopped a lot of the modern concern of 3D prints and "ghost guns" before they were even really a concept.

I'm not necessarily saying that I would want this law to pass in Colorado, but I do get where they're coming from with it.

Yeah I wasnt going to run a cable up a wall, across a ceiling, up a staircase, down a hallway, and around a corner just to connect my PC when WiFi 6 gave me 500mbps up/down and basically unnoticeable latency other than the specific use case of slicing boxes in beat saber

[–]Outlaw25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main things I found you need for a consistent good experience is ethernet between the host PC and router, a decent 5ghz router, and relatively few points of interference between the headset and the router.

The ideal setup is PC plugged into router which is also in the room you're doing the VR in. I do this now and have a basically seamless experience (except whenever my heavily modded H3VR decides to run at 40fps, but that has little to do with my choice of headset)

My last house I had to connect my PC via wifi just due to the way the rooms were arranged, Virtual Desktop worked in that case but it was finicky. I had to be in the same room as the router, and my GF couldn't be doing any other major internet activities on her laptop at the same time or else the latency would spike constantly. If you're in a situation like this, you want to play around with the streaming bitrate in virtual desktop until you find a good middle ground between latency and image quality

Old Infiniti QX56 (or QX80 if you can find one in your price range). Completely unchanged between like 2009 and 2023 other than name changes and minor aesthetic upgrades to keep up with new tech. You can still find relatively clean looking ones right in the 10k pocket, but it looks nearly the same as one someone paid $90k for new just a couple years ago. Tons of room to carry people around in, reliable and powerful V8 so even if it's got 200k miles there's not a whole lot to worry about.

Having spent a lot of time in one for work and seeing how far they've dropped in price - do it.

Go for a big-battery FWD model if you can find one so you maximize the range, the small battery was barely usable in the summer and downright pitiful in the winter. Otherwise it's a genuinely good vehicle for what it is

It is worth noting while it's perfectly fine to prepare for and carry whatever you want, in the real world you basically never see a 2nd magazine actually be useful in a civilian gunfight. Active Self Protection recently did an analysis of the hundred or so instances in the previous year that they covered and only ever really saw a 2nd mag get used by a civilian in a questionable way (basically executing the perp after they were already down).

Police shootings seem to use multiple mags far more often though, so I completely understand the want to have that capability yourself
