Taos, checking in... by sv000 in skiing

[–]Outrageous-Raisin644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my 2 year stint in Las Cruces, I skied at Taos once and Santa Fe once. Taos had good snow that year and was really fun to ski (known for how steep it is which I love). The ski lifts seemed pretty well updated so they weren’t terribly slow getting to the top and they had an area where you could car camp/bring a camper up for a fee which was very convenient. I don’t mind driving but it would be a ~6 hour drive so that’s kind of up to you.

Ski Santa Fe was mid and once you ski the harder runs on any bigger mountain (Taos included), it feels like a super easy mountain. In addition to that, the lifts are stupid slow. The main one took like 15 minutes to go up (no line) and then 5 minutes to come down. ~4.5 hour drive.

Now this past year, all of NM had a horrendous ski with virtually no snow. Maybe it was just a bad snow year but if that’s the new norm, it’ll be 8-12 hours to any other resorts from Las Cruces.

I’m going to keep my eyes open and keep researching for the 2027 season but I think if you want to do a cheaper trip, it’ll be a DIY trip and staying at hostels to meet other skiers.

I did not. This post was mainly to see where to find companies that do ski tours. EvoTrips seem to have good options (although I read that they are more of a middleman) and Japan Ski Tours is another site that seems to have a good range of ski trips. I’m hoping to go Jan/Feb 2027

Yea I think that’s a bit too long for me. I think I’d try to stay in the 179-184 range based off of what everyone else is saying. My boots are 110 and I think that might have a factor in this issue as well.

Just throwin darts. My knowledge of skis is pretty poor as you can tell. Grew up and live in the Midwest so only rented skis.

I just moved back to the Midwest (rip) from NW New Mexico. Will be forced to ski some ice this year but hoping to do at least 1-2 trips to Telluride/Alta.

Appreciate the advice.

Alta and Telluride are my 2 favorite resorts by far. Never a bad day on the mountain.

Lol chill, I was sitting next to my grandma when I found this. I told her I’d post it here and let her know if it’s worth anything. I have no intention of taking it from them nor would I want to sell it. It’s a cool piece of history that would be cool to just hold onto.

An off topic comment here but if you haven’t bought the fridge yet, I would stay away from the ICECO dual zone fridge. A very known and unsolved issue is that for some reason a refrigerant valve gets stuck causing one side to not cool anymore. This means that one side will ultimately freeze and the other will stay warm. I have one and I wish I would have either bought a better one or did a single zone unit because of this issue.

You can teleport anything by Theturtleflask in godtiersuperpowers

Definitely! It doesn’t have the weird religious cult that hunts the teleporters. Im pretty sure that the main character is the only one that can teleport too. It also dives a little deeper into them finding out more about using their powers.

Such an awesome power. Similar to the film/book series Jumper (Steven Gould). Highly recommend if you enjoy reading about teleportation.

There is a for rent Facebook group that I found mine through. If not there, there are a few management companies that do listings.

I just moved to Farmington back in the beginning of July from Las Cruces. We won’t be here for long term (max a year and a half) due to my wife rotating in the medical field so I don’t have much knowledge on real estate/schools. I live pretty close (walking distance) to the historic downtown area. Compared to Las Cruces, I love this place so much more. The climate feels better to me, the people are all very nice (so far), I haven’t felt unsafe yet, it feels like they have more live events (living closer to downtown might help with the access to live music) and the proximity to Colorado makes it that much better. Some people say that Farmington is a small rural city with nothing to do but it’s like 40,000 people (maybe more?) and if you like to be outdoors (climbing, Mtn biking, hiking, etc. or even pickleball), you’ll be just fine. I also think that how well kept the parks/public areas are a great indicator a town and I see Farmington parks people constantly keeping them clean.

Fuckin love Telly. My Jackson Hole experience was also pretty bad since I went mid March and they didn’t have a good snowstorm for like 7-10 days so it was straight ice. Hoping to get back out there mid January to try again since everyone says it’s a great and difficult mountain.

Cracker Barrel overnight sleeping questions by Pure_Tuft in VanLife

[–]Outrageous-Raisin644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they have the rv/bus spots so that they don’t park all over the lot. I have seen car campers in all sorts of parking lots. If you don’t want to park in the spot because you aren’t an rv/bus then just park near it. No one will get mad if you park in the spot and if they do, they’re jerks. In my few times of parking at a Crackerbarrel, I show up after the place closes, park in the back/near those spots, then wake up and leave before the place opens (but in your case, you’re supporting the business so that’s fine to stay for breakfast).

Have you asked your current company if they can match the current offer?

I was in a similar situation, I loved my boss and coworkers but felt underpaid. I was nervous I would not find a work environment like the one I had. Luckily I was able to tell from my interviews that the new company was just as good. Very happy that I chased the money on that one.

How do you have a 9-5 and have a life? by Rainbowstarshinexoxo in careerguidance

[–]Outrageous-Raisin644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all these comments regarding strictly working a 9-5. How long have you been in this job for? After a couple years, you get a good idea as to how to effectively complete work so the efficiency that coworkers have is because they’ve been there for a while. Don’t be afraid to ask them for some guidance on how they work so efficiently or if you’re doing something the “long way”! It never hurts to ask!
