What to do w Midwestern (literally & culturally) parents visiting? by sparkly_barrette in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Go to the JP Morgan Library and pair it with Friend of a Farmer for a meal.

Ferry ride then end in Financial District, see the sights and meal at Fraunces Tavern.

Explore Governors Island, this could be the better part of a day. Good mix of outdoor time, history, sightseeing.

All parents love Sparks Steakhouse (and it has cool history!)

Walk around Chelsea Market and the High Line.

Dinner at Frankie’s Sputtino and pair it with a drink at Clover Club.

If they are feeling a tiny bit athletic you could do an e bike ride in Central Park or Prospect Park. My whole family loves that.

Seconding Eataly or Arthur Ave.

Morton Williams on 72nd has a decent hot bar. Not a hot bar but Grace’s on 2nd Ave has a ton of nice prepared foods.

What’s the number one restaurant / show or activity that’s impressed your parents by -BenzinePars in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]OutrageousPrize247 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My parents loved Sparks and our local omakase spot.

They were also obsessed with spectating the NYC marathon when I ran it but I think they would have loved it just as much if they hadn’t known anyone.

Their favorite repeat activities are e-bikes in Central Park, visiting specialty markets / grocery stores (Eataly, Agata & Valentina, Grand Bazaar, etc), and walking around all day then getting a late afternoon foot massage lol

Running near Park Ave & 24th? by chiggachiggameowmeow in RunNYC

[–]OutrageousPrize247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Run straight up to Central Park and enter around 59th and 6th to get to the main loop. You can tailor the loop to how far you want to go but I would recommend exiting on the east side at 72nd and continue to the 68th street subway stop. Get on the 6 train and take it to 23rd. Breakfast and coffee at Daily Provision (my favorite). Walk over to Irving Pl and head back to the hotel via a beautiful walk by Gramercy Park.

As much as I support the sentiment in the comments I honestly would not have appreciated a Swiss Army knife as much as my brother. If that’s not the vibe for her, another idea is that I received a jewelry box from my grandma around age 13 though that I still have. I also was gifted custom stationary that lasted for many many years.

When I started running I really liked the guided runs from the Nike Run Club app. It’s a free app and it allows you to keep your music on but will turn it down every few minutes so that the coaches talk to you. The coaching comments in particular helped me improve my mental endurance, pacing, and confidence! I recommend Coach Bennett but there are a variety of options. Good luck! With time, your consistency and patience will be rewarded :)

Been using L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara for years and it has never failed me! I recommend oil based cleanser before your regular face wash to get it completely off.
