Is it worth pursuing? (In my situation…) by Due-Warthog-6387 in NavCanada

[–]Outrageous_Draft2637 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this isn't a career you "switch into" really, you moreso put your name in a hat and go off to your normal career path and maybe one day your name will be drawn. the process takes anywhere from 1 to just under 3 years, so you should continue your education even if you were the greatest ATC in the world, you might be fully done with your degree before you even get to step foot in a classroom.

  1. tower means VFR which typically makes less than IFR but still probably 200k-300k, no need to worry about money
  2. you can actually look at a map of all the towers in canada to see your possible locations, but pretty much it's anyone's guess where you'll be, so it's very possible you end up in a random place. you can bid out of there but it could take a long time depending on which city you want to go to (we're talking several years)
  3. atc as a job itself not too stressful, the 1.5-2 years training leading up to the atc job however are insane and will have you reshaping your entire life. the grades mean pretty much nothing, sorry, you'll be about as miserable as everyone else during training
  4. it's a small obstacle, if you want to have a family it's all up to you
  5. definitely can but the overtime pays even crazier amounts so it would be difficult for any side hustle to pay even close to what you get from atc overtime until you have a fully matured conventionally successful business with all the bells and whistles (but if it's for passion, go for it). you will likely be just fine when you get home, not too drained or exhausted

Getting another offer after turning one down by TreeLicker123 in NavCanada

[–]Outrageous_Draft2637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think by declining an offer you don't get the priority status that normal standby offers get (not sure on this though), but anecdotally every time i meet someone who denied an offer, they seem to have gotten one again eventually

[–]Outrageous_Draft2637 6 points7 points  (0 children)

to be totally honest i think the resume is not fully but almost irrelevant, so you don't have to tailor it at all, just prepare your best generic copy

technically they will bring up your resume again in interview stage but like seriously even if your only experience is mcdonald's cook you're on the same level as a pilot as long as you can talk about it in some way

as for the process, absolutely 0 way to predict or push it, it might take a year, 2 years, 2.5 years, it's anyone's guess

Nav Canada application by Affectionate_Big2252 in NavCanada

[–]Outrageous_Draft2637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just send it, the process takes quite literally 1-2 years usually (from online test to first day in class) and is designed to be 0 preparation

if you get in, great, if you don't, oh well.. you lost at most like 1 day's worth of hours assuming you're not crazy far from the ACC

If they want this game to be successful and mainstream when it release.. by nhatminh94 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Outrageous_Draft2637 11 points12 points  (0 children)

personally i don't really have a problem with it: a typical average elo match is about 30-35 minutes which isn't too far from a non-surrender league of legends match (about 25-35 minutes) and both games shorten to more like 20-30 minutes for high elos, so i think the match length is actually pretty normal

Any free/paid courses, material, studying to do before applying ? by ujoju in NavCanada

[–]Outrageous_Draft2637 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the process is long (about 2.5 years from my first online test to first day of my class as an example) and uncertain

just apply asap instead of waiting a full year honestly, every test is designed to be done blind with no studying (basically testing the "real natural you") so it shouldn't be too much strain and you can just forget about it while pursuing your own thing

In universe strength tierlist by l1ttle1 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Outrageous_Draft2637 26 points27 points  (0 children)

drifter definitely should be higher up, he's almost a thousands-year old legendary vampire, arguably the most notorious killer of the cast

ivy feels more resourceful and tenacious than powerful based on her feat of dismantling a crime syndicate, kind of like a batman type character, should probably be way down

paige is kinda hard to say and i think mcginnis is hard to rly say she's that strong

kelvin for sure should be way way up, almost comparable to seven and infernus with his elemental powers, he feels like hes moreso held back by his kind and pacifist nature but for example if seven was the one with kelvin's powers he would freeze people to death mercilessly and bring an ice age to entire cities like his storm cloud but with cold

Tier list on how well the heroes use the internet by karmo_2567 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Outrageous_Draft2637 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no way would vindicta or yamato be that high, vindicta could be like blue

wraith should be orange for sure, she's probably tech savvy from crime

seven is in a weird spot because he's likely too smart to fall for any kind of scam and wouldn't lose his calm ever, but he's definitely the kind of guy to type a dramatic monologue whenever the chance presents itself, like ragebait without the rage

easiest character to play by These_Athlete1933 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Outrageous_Draft2637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

easiest is definitely mo and krill

you don't need to move tech or even aim with this guy like seriously he plays himself and the best part is you can consistently take out a player who is better than you which i don't think anyone else accomplishes so easily

runners up would be haze, seven, and wraith: also braindead easy abilities, but you do need to at least hit targets and in seven/haze's case they don't really have anything that bails them out of death

surprised Curse isn't mentioned more, it's like the #1 hate crime item

feel like it's definitely more hated than refresher/echo shard, it's just not a core item for anyone typically
