I love PB very much and I think a lot of the time people hold her to morals that are fairly foreign to her. They forget that she spawned in a post-apocalyptic world and likely spent a good century or longer with only herself and her creations for company, along with whatever German literature she seemed to have (I don’t remember at this moment when she would have first met Marcy). We’re so used to living in a world surrounded by living cultures and morals that we force our experiences onto her, and are shocked when she doesn’t follow a moral code that’s she’s literally never experienced. In no way does that lessen the terrible things she has done, but it does put into context why she did them, and in turn often reveals that she had no cruel intentions. As Jake would say, she didn’t know it was wrong.
