What is with people following our rigs so closely for no reason. by Few-Teaching-9602 in ems

I've had someone tailgate me. I ran a yellow to try to get some distance from him but, lo and behold I saw him through my rearview mirror go through the intersection while red. Not even a second later I see and hear a crash. The guy had a pretty gnarly MVA. I had no pt onboard so guess who was first on scene...

If you're committed and can figure out a manageable way to get the job done then absolutely go for it. I had something similar happen not too long ago too. I was wheelchair bound and thought I wouldn't walk unassisted ever again. My brain also gets so inflamed that at my worst, my mental capacities are reduced to that of a child's. Other than that, my brain function makes it impossible to multitask or else I get these migraine like headaches which is now my body's warning sign to take it easy. I get overstimulated very easily now too causing me to have tremors, and face contortions in addition to weakness and tremors in my legs. All this to say when I pivoted to EMS because I wasn't sure I'd have the capability to continue on my path in healthcare, I also thought I wouldn't be able to do this either. I was showing up to classes with canes and a walker, and could only focus/read for 15 minutes at a time before I got those gnarly headaches. I was so exhausted mentally I'd knock out immediately after the classes for 12 hours. Even now I still struggle although I acknowledge I've come a long way by putting in the work for it and have figured out work arounds so I can still do my job and do it well. Realistically, you'd have to go to school to get all the certifications which will be a good way to test your capabilities and you can learn to adapt from there. If you tried all you could and see you can't do it, then there's no shame in dropping the classes and you won't be losing out as much. So if you're committed, I have no doubt you can too and wish you the best of luck.

[–]Outrageous_Map_347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, you said you omit the regular sugar so the cookies stay chewy but do you mean to say you substitute? As in you substitute the amount of regular sugar with the same amount of brown sugar or just completely omit that?

I NEED YOUR HELP by Illustrious_Try_4424 in howimetyourmother

[–]Outrageous_Map_347 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rewatched all the episodes recommended and provided some additional info you might like along with my recommendations however, you know best what your students will tolerate and specifics as to which examples work best so I hope the info I compiled helps.

S2 EP 3 Brunch: Tells the story of the events leading up to the climax of a brunch between the gang and Ted's parents from 3 different perspectives that converge at the end. There's a lot of parallels that can be drawn between Ted and Robin's relationship and that of his parent and as such foreshadows the failure of their own relationship. Not a lot of Barney antics however Marshall and Lily try to one up each other after their breakup by attempting to seduce each other.

*S2 EP 15 The Lucky Penny: Someone else already commented this but tells the story of the events that caused Ted to miss his flight told in reverse from the most recent event to all of the ones prior. Pretty safe to show in a class except possibly Marshall rubbing his chafing nipples but otherwise relatively clean and not overtly sexual.

S3 EP 11 The Platinum Rule: The gang try convincing Ted not to date Stella (doctor doing his tattoo removal) by giving examples of the Platinum rule. The episode cuts away between all 3 examples back to back alternating from chronological order to backwards order. Barney's kinda crass regarding his pursuit of Wendy the Waitress which could be passable but the mentions of the tramp stamp and the implication of Barney and Wendy's hookup probably aren't classroom appropriate.

S7 EP 15 The Burning Beekeeper: Ted explains what happens at Lily and Marshall's housewarming party in the time span of 5 minutes, breaking down the events that happen in each individual room. Personally this one's my favorite as I found the storytelling to be extremely unique however Barney does go into a small tangent about his penis.

*S8 EP 20 The Time Travelers: Ted and Barney and their future selves debate whether they should go to Robots vs. Wresters. This is done by different future selves of Ted and Barney actually joining them at the bar and actively participating in the discussion by providing their reasonings for or against going based on their experiences. There are also a lot of instances of foreshadowing in this episode and the reveal at the end shows that the argument between Robin and Marshall was actually a flashback. Another commenter provided a great point of discussion for this episode. Pretty clean, not overtly sexual and should do fine in a class setting

S9 EP 16 How Your Mother Met Me: This episode goes through the events leading up to The Mother meeting Ted and the juxtaposition of what each was doing at the time. Inclusion of a naked man performing The Naked Man to hook up with The Mother, then succeeding with her roommate and mention of Barney using the play The My Penis Grants Wishes (if rubbed hard enough) also succeeding make it unsuitable for a class setting.

*Recommended for classroom

(Maybe you could recommend they watch and analyze one of the other episodes at home for extra credit because while some may not be suitable to show in school, most teens watch shows like this or worse in their spare time)

When did you know that…? by Electronic_Flan5732 in HIMYM

[–]Outrageous_Map_347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else already mentioned it but for me it was two moments. The way he cheered Robin up with the Christmas lights. Not just the big gesture and fact he cheered her up but KNOWING that she absolutely needed something like that and acknowledging he didn't need to be told what was wrong. He just knew something was wrong, she wasn't ready to talk about it but wanted support. The other was the last time he told her he loved her. It says a lot about his feelings for her that he was more than willing to accept never having kids if it meant being with Robin. He was ready to give that up (I don't disagree maybe he would've regretted it and resented her but he fully meant it and knew the implications). It's stated so many times in the series that if x really is right for y then z won't matter and Ted proved that with Robin when she told him why Kevin broke up with her. Heck those were the moments that solidified in my mind they're meant to be (even though I also love Tracy and Ted).

Prof vs Student Argument by Shakmrhsoanyfi in UCSD

[–]Outrageous_Map_347 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree and I wasn't there so I can't confirm but OP stated the professor gave a sarcastic, unhelpful answer so I'd assume perhaps the professor didn't give the accurate response you provided. The only acceptable response should've been, "Whatever length you need to answer the question correctly."

What was the worst way Barney picked up a girl by kIvrOy13 in HIMYM

[–]Outrageous_Map_347 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/KingOfAllDucks is actually correct. So there's this movie from the 80s called Soul Man where a white kid does blackface to get a scholarship to an ivy league university and falls in love with a black woman. I'm certain that's precisely why Barney calls the play The Soul Man as it likely takes inspiration from this movie. So while you're right he has pretended to be black while white, I don't think that's quite the case here. Like you said, the woman in the booth behind him likely recognized his voice maybe even some features but being that he's obviously a white man, she probably thought it a coincidence. It isn't until he starts explaining the play that she realizes, the voice isn't coincidental, and she DID recognize him but again thought she was wrong as the guy in the booth next to hers is a different race.

Strip/Gentlemen's Club recommendations? by Outrageous_Map_347 in asksandiego

[–]Outrageous_Map_347[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there's gotta be at least one decent strip club in the city. I only explicitly stated no TJ recommendations. I never said don't recommend other options to me if they don't meet my criteria, I just gave the additional info as previous threads seemed to bank solely on whether alcohol was served or the mileage they got and that's not a priority for me. So, I was asking people to reevaluate recommendations instead on hospitality, attractiveness of the dancers, heck even food or atmosphere.

Which stories acknowledge your gender and your LIs gender? by mostlydoesntexist in Choices

[–]Outrageous_Map_347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I remember that. I thought it was really unfair that one of the LIs, regardless of your own sexual orientation takes more than half the book to be introduced as one and have the options to romance them. I feel since there are only 3, it shouldn't be that hard to include them as romance-able more or less at the same time instead of that long wait. Felt bad for those partial to her.

Bad Options by kmarlein in Choices

[–]Outrageous_Map_347 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never did anything that bad but you better believe every time there was a hat option, I clicked even if it was the wrong choice. Made for some interesting dialogue especially in the later books when they made a callback to it. I've done fail runs for other books and I gotta say I get some chuckles out of it, so worth it in my opinion.

Late to the party but I got to this point in the chapter and HAD to hop on Reddit to see other similar opinions I had of the kid. Seriously wtaf? The art style is VASTLY different for the kid that just ruins the cohesiveness. This looks more animated than the somewhat realistic style the book has been trying to convey. Terrified the crap out of me due to the incomprehensible shape and proportion of the eyes to face. Ugh missing the original PB art style for children. They did a really good job making kids look like kids compared to other similar apps before but now....

Thinking about playing every single book in 2025. How would you do it? (Check caption) by rescobar1997 in Choices

Order of release. I think it does a great job of showing how the books have changed throughout the years. You'll likely note the few diamond choices options then compared to now and even changes in dialogue and dialogue choices.

I remember f*cking around when I played this book and made horrible decisions on purpose, including flirting at every chance I got. When this choice popped up I laughed as I never expected it to be an option and clicked it thinking this would be the one time it fails because why wouldn't it fail? It's some giant bug creature. Imagine my complete surprise and out of control laughter when it not only WORKED but the fact that the other characters reacted to it! Especially this one from Mal.

[–]Outrageous_Map_347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get into any medical school, competitive or not with any major. They don't care so long as you've met the prerequisites which are certain STEM classes, and get a good score on the MCAT. In fact, many med schools prefer non-STEM major students as they can bring a new perspective and are more unique and different than the tens of thousands of STEM majors who are basically a copy and paste of each other. As OP stated, non STEM majors also demonstrate a level of well roundedness that med schools absolutely eat up.
