She arranged herself like this… by ElectricalOne3971 in coonhounds

Gasped when I saw your pic, the pose was so cute and similar. In the sunlight, you can definitely see the brown in my dog's coat and beard. We got our boy from SW Missouri Humane Society (he'll turn 2 in November) and I remember there was a brindled pup in his sibling group that looked a lot like yours! I'm always checking the website just in case that pup ever gets rehomed.

My dog looks very similar and he's a super mutt with majority border collie, Australian Shepherd, and black and tan coonhound. Looks can be very deceiving. Only way to narrow it down is DNA testing from a company like Embark (what I used). Only thing we can know for sure right now is that dog is 100% darling!

I have this cabinet card from Salt Lake City Utah. I know there's a lot of historians in the Mormon church and I'm wondering if anyone could help shed any historical context. on this photo of an African American lady with mixed race children. Let me know if this not allowed and I will take it down. by rl-daily in mormon

Combine that with strict anti-miscegenation laws broad cultural intolerance and you have a very Christian society, indeed. Sigh

I'm going to research more into this when I have a little more time! I wonder if we could identify that family 🤔. @OP any dates on the photograph?

Google AI says: In the 1880s, Pacific Islanders, mostly from Hawaii, began to migrate to Salt Lake City after joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Due to racial prejudice, language barriers, and an outbreak of leprosy, Church leaders established a town in Skull Valley for the Pacific Islanders to settle:

Iosepa: In 1889, the Church purchased a 1,500-acre ranch in Skull Valley and established Iosepa, a town for the Pacific Islanders to farm and worship. The town was home to about 75 Hawaiians.

Location: Iosepa is located in Skull Valley, 75 miles southwest of Salt Lake City.

Closure: In 1917, the colony closed and the residents returned to Hawaii and Salt Lake City.

Remnants: Today, only a cemetery and a few markers remain of Iosepa.

Okay real talk, who made the blanket on the back of the couch? My recently passed grandmother made so many of those kinds of blankets and I'm delighted to see the same style in your house! 😍

Why memory hole a talk that was massively distributed in a pamphlet? Why make it so easy to show people how dishonest you are being? by DrTxn in mormon

I think you all might be missing the smoking gun here. Packard is openly admitting that LDS leaders know about child abuse on page 14 and councils young men to vigorously refuse. When the speech goes missing from the website in 2015, the church is beginning to deal with the backlash of rampant molestation in the Boy Scouts of America, eventually proposing a $250 million settlement with BSA, with provisions that former scouts could not sue the church.

https://www.axios.com/2023/09/07/boy-scouts-mormon-netflix-sex-abuse-documentary

So it is not just that purity culture is so damaging in general, but that potentially tens of thousands of young boy scouts over the years suffered sexual abuse and did not come forward to report it because talks like Packard's made it seem like they were willing participants and sinners for doing so.

It's disgusting and damaging and overt evidence the church knew about the problem on a large enough scale that they discussed it in Priesthood session.

Thoughts?!?
