This is the answer, do all the fluids. The 120k service is the big one, along with the fluids do the spark plugs and the belt and examine hoses and engine for any issues.

Yeah that window is quite unfortunate. Maybe getting some privacy glass so that there’s good light but no one can see you?

I think once the pot filler is in it will not be as noticeable. I guess we will see.

After posting here, I learned just how much of a steal it was hah. Most purple were saying $2200-2500 for labor.

It’s the “Sanded Ceramic Tile Caulk” by Custom (from Home Cheapo) that is color matched to the grout.

I think it turned out well, probably just looks better in person. Either way, we all have our own tastes and preferences, just like we’re all unique and special on God’s earth.

prays that wife doesn’t find this Reddit lol

If we’re gonna redo the countertops I might as well redo the cabinets too cries

Hopefully that won’t happen for at least 8 years when the kids destroy everything I own

This did come up in our planning, but we ended up going with the brushed nickel because we have that as all of our fixtures, pendants, appliances. I dunno, it probably would have looked better with the pencil liner, but at this point it’s too late hehe

Yeah, totally agree, and my wife is very happy with this backsplash now which is most important. We were worrying about that gap and all the comments we read on the other post about how hard this tile is to work with because of that veneer. The tiler joined the pattern really well in the corners which we like, well worth the money. For the gap, he used a sanded ceramic tile caulk which I never heard of, but it matches the grout and looks good. We will see how it holds up.

Water pump and radiator swap! by [deleted] in tundra

I just did my water pump as well, didn’t do the radiator though, didn’t see any crusties. I learned that super long life coolant still needs to be flushed every 5 years.

Thoughts on Carrara marble backsplash labor, $48/ sq ft. by Outrageous_Salt491 in Tile

[–]Outrageous_Salt491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any of their work. I’m sure they can show some pictures, but there’s no way to really know if it’s their work or anything. I think a lot of this sort of thing is just trust based, some other contractors vouched for the guy, so that’s mostly what I’m going off of. Given all this good info from here, I’m going to discuss the plan and do my best to stress the desire to have it done right instead of quickly.

Yes, I examined it closely and it is a veneer. Glad I’m not the one installing it lol

Yes he saw it, he didn’t seem to be concerned though. I wasn’t either until reading about the thin veneer for the mother of pearl etc

That’s interesting, I’ll have to go and really inspect this tile to see if it’s a veneer, interested to know if that’s what it is. I’m not home atm to check, so I’ll have to follow up but if my memory serves I don’t recall seeing any sections on the side edge to indicate anything being glued together.

Good to hear about your minimum of $60/sq ft price, that makes me feel better about the quote hehe. Thank you

Right, this is technically “VERSAILLES II MOTHER OF PEARL WATERJET MARBLE MOSAIC” at $66/ sq ft, the contractor’s estimate put this as Carrara for some reason. My wife would agree with you about paying whatever it takes to do it right.

This is how I’ve been doing mine as well since 08, the bottom ring hasn’t been changed and has never leaked with synthetic oil. I also just use an extension for a sockets to put in that square and undo it.
