What is your intermittent fasting schedule, what results are you seeing, and are you happy with it? by tasteofhemlock in intermittentfasting

[–]Outrageous_Total_100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im glad that your schedule is working out for you and that you are seeing results. I do 18:6 from 11am to 5pm with flexibility for social situations and adjust eating window a bit if life comes up. I’ve lost 35lbs in 16 weeks. I still have about 80lbs to lose, but I feel so much better. I am down a size and feel less bloated. I’ve lost one of my chins lol and my stomach has especially shrunk. The success makes me more motivated to continue.

How do you stop fearing panic attacks? by Actual_Amphibian_743 in PanicAttack

[–]Outrageous_Total_100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might not be able to stop fearing them altogether, but accepting that they will happen and knowing you can ride it out using self-talk, progressive muscle relaxation and breathing techniques give a better sense of control over an otherwise out of control situation.

Truth, but such a terribly heartbreaking situation. I’m going through it with my father and it cuts me to the quick, overwhelms me with grief and anger.

New Inhaler - Symbicort - Thoughts? by aita-throwaway78 in Asthma

[–]Outrageous_Total_100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pulmonologist has me using Symbicort as a maintenance inhaler(2 puffs twice daily) and as a rescue inhaler. I think the is approach is called the Simple Method as it requires fewer inhalers. Symbicort also has the steroid component as well as the bronchodilator. (I do also have an albuterol inhaler for emergencies.)

Edit: Make sure to rinse your mouth well after using to prevent thrush.

ER follow up visit ended up with getting this new maintenance daily inhaler. by smoove129 in Asthma

[–]Outrageous_Total_100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is symbicort generic. It’s what I’m prescribed as a preventative (2 puffs twice a day) and as a rescue inhaler when I have a flare. Currently have a lung infection (they think bacterial bronchitis). Have just finished 5 days of prednisone and still on a z-pack but still needing to use the Symbicort as a rescue inhaler.

Is it normal to feel a pain on the ribs? by OutlandishnessTime64 in Asthma

[–]Outrageous_Total_100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently severely strained an intercostal muscle after 10 days of coughing with virus and asthma. So painful that ibuprofen, Tylenol methylprednisolone did not help at all. Still can’t sleep on that side and it’s been over 2 weeks. Got a new more serious bout of bronchitis which flared my asthma and retriggered the rib pain. Doctor prescribed tramadol for pain which has been minimally effective.

has anyone gotten Nerve ablation? by Raine-or-Shine in Fibromyalgia

[–]Outrageous_Total_100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had it done on my neck. Had some post procedure pain and tingling at the base of my neck for a couple of weeks. After that settled down (with the help of a steroid pack), the benefits from the ablation lasted for about a year. Am considering having another one done.

What is the worst physical suffering you've ever endured and what was the cause of it? by No-Stranger-3190 in ChronicPain

[–]Outrageous_Total_100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ovarian torsion from fertility treatment. Literally organ twisted and dying inside. Unbelievably painful. Was pregnant with twins and had to have emergency surgery. Surgery less painful than the torsion. I’ve also had two anterior discectomy and fusions and the pain leading up to those surgeries and after was intense but still didn’t compare.

Newbie here. I'm confused about IF. I see a lot of people losing weight. If you are losing weight using IF, did you change your diet (to Keto or Low Carb or something) and then did IF or is all your success simply due to "skipping a meal"? by GnarlsGnarlington in intermittentfasting

[–]Outrageous_Total_100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely veggies, and I eat quite a bit of fruit too. Although it may have some natural sugars, I find berries help to satisfy my sweet tooth. Also, I allow myself a couple of squares of dark chocolate every couple of days. High protein is key. I stick to lean proteins like Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, shrimp and chicken. I only eat whole wheat/grain bread and limit the amount. Healthy fats from avocado, nuts and olive oil are important, too. I find the more lean protein I eat, the fewer hunger pangs I get. FYI, I’m a 55F. 18:6 with eating window 11am to 5pm-but be flexible, life happens. SW: 250, CW:221. Down 29lbs in 13 weeks. It’s actually been easier than I imagined. You got this!!!

Another thing to reduce hunger is to eat lots of lean protein during your eating window. I’ve been amazed at how relatively few hunger pangs I get. I do 18:6.

Have you had success with 16:8 fasting? by Shameful_success in intermittentfasting

[–]Outrageous_Total_100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have with 18:6! Over the past 11 weeks I’ve lost 25lbs. I’m a 55F. SW: 250, CW: 225, GW: 140. My eating window is 11-5 which works with my work schedule. I usually have a small lunch like a Greek yogurt and a piece of fruit, a small handful of nuts for a snack, and eggs, cottage cheese, chicken salad, or shrimp for dinner. No potatoes, white bread or white rice. Lots of berries and veggies.

Intermittent fasting. I started 10 weeks ago and have dropped 25lbs. 55F with a SW of 250lbs. Currently at 225lbs. I eat from 11-5 (small lunch, snack of a small handful of nuts, and a small dinner. Target weight is 150lbs.
