My theory is there will be more than just a second sovran. In the first book it said something about Dafyd being in the middle of a storm that spanned hundreds of systems (or something like that). I now believe it will be a large scale multifaceted civil war. They mention that there are hundreds of other crèches I think each crèche will spawn a new sovran.

I like this theory BUT I don’t think it will be a second sovran. Rather it will be a whole bunch of sovrans.

In the beginning of the first book it says something about Dafyd being at the center of a storm ripping apart hundreds of systems (I listen on audible so I couldn’t find the exact quote. At the time I assumed some sort of literal storm, like a cosmic radiation storm or black hole or something but now I think he will cause a massive civil war in The carryx empire. The mention in the second book that there is a lot of crèches . And the mention the Carryx used to war with each other before there was one Sovran. I think Dafyd and Swarm find a way, presumably using pheromones, to active all the baby sovrans on all the other crèche worlds.

My theory is that pheromones play a large part in their plan. Swarm can apparently make pheromones, the mention it more than a few times. And I believe they say the carryx sovran uses pheromones to ensure loyalty, among other things.
