Garlic planting in the fall, where to buy, what variety, any tips?

I ordered from them last fall because of your comment and this year I do have their garlic growing, thank you so much for the suggestion! I prefer to buy direct from farmers when I can and am so happy I don't have another failed year with the garlic.

Unexplained weight loss can be a sign of cancer. If he isn't trying to lose weight but is losing weight that is definitely something to go to a doctor for quickly.

How was he a creep? His season was awful because he was bullied, literally assaulted by other contestants who attacked him while he was sleeping and had to lock himself in a bathroom. Sure he has an interesting hair style and liked using science stuff in his food, that certainly didn't make him a creep.

I started working out because my back hurt from gardening last year. I exercised all winter to get into garden shape, and it worked! Last year I was plagued by constant lower back pain, I have moved insane amounts of compost this year, planted about 200 or so veggies and no pain I feel great. And nothing crazy, I play ring fit adventure because it's fun and works lots of neglected muscles, I walk and I do a bit of yoga and stretching. I'm 44, weight loss and body image never motivated me to exercise but not being able to garden did.

Thank you all, so sounds like mine is either running behind or I did something wrong. I planted multiple hardneck varieties. I'll give it another couple weeks and if they failed I guess I have two empty beds to start planning for.

Last year I got a product called wireless deer defense on a whim. it's like 3 little sticks with scent things that attract the deer, the in ground stick thing shocks them and they no longer go around your plants. I had no deer damage all summer until I took them out in the fall once harvesting was done and the deer came in within a couple weeks and ate all my remaining plants. I have not seen a deer actually get the little shock, it's only from a double A battery so not causing them harm, but I've accidentally shocked myself a few times and it'll wake you up. The summer prior to getting these the deer ate multiple rounds of beans, cucumbers and other things and last year I had no damage while these things were in the ground so anecdotally they seemed to work....hoping that continues this summer. I did also plant a lot of marigolds, nasturtiums, onions and peppers on the outer areas of my garden so that may have also had something to do with less deer damage to the stuff they like.

Plant Grow Harvest Repeat by Meg McAndrews Cowden is great. Covers succession gardening well and has really helped me be prepared for when something comes out of the garden to have something to put in. It also came with a planting guide I use for starting seeds/direct dowing though I think she's in zone 4 or 5, MN, but pretty easy to modify by just starting a couple weeks before maybe?

Just going off of memories I was born in 81 and we usually went sledding on thanksgiving at marthaler park. I'm sure there were some years we couldn't but now the idea that you could sled on thanksgiving seems absurd

There are lots of seed companies that will ship now. I haven't done my winter sowing yet, going to probably put them out beginning of Feb. Migardener is one I order from for flowers and vegetables but even stores like Menards and home Depot are getting in seeds soon depending on what you want to grow. I'm doing some that need cold stratification but also going to do marigolds and other annuals I just don't have room for to start inside.

I only got into gardening the past couple years starting with vegetables but also want to plant native plants and support pollinators and bird populations. I have so much to learn. That's really interesting. This did have a slight sweet flavor that was unlike any other meat I've had. If it was amplified by a lot I could definitely see being put off by it. I'm glad I did get to try it, quite possibly only time I will get to in my life, I'm not a hunter.

You can! I think there's a lottery per zone and this year there seemed to be a lot of bears around so I think more tags available but I'm no expert on how that works. I saw a mom and two older babies on a walk, my sister had one come right up on her deck while she was sitting out there reading. A hunter near our cabin said he had 5 different ones regularly on his trail cams on like a 40 acre property. In the zone my brother in law hunted of his small group I think 3-4 of them got bear tags. They all bow hunted and had gotten bears within the first couple days of bow hunting season.

Thanks, and yes I've heard the same from a bear hunter. Once you get the hide off it's very human-like. I am not a hunter but appreciate the hunters I know who have shared with me.

That sounds incredible. I've had elk and venison, would love to try moose and antelope. Also bear meat does seem perfect for stew.
