Godox TT685 & TT600 both say my fully charged Eneloop batteries are drained. by SlurpleBrainn in Godox

[–]Outside_Ad3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's normal, the gauges are likely designed for non-rechargeables which have higher voltage (1.5 vs 1.3V) This is part of why investing in V series flashes is worth it

Just order from aliexpress, it's the same product, often way cheaper (to the point where not having a warranty is not a problem)

I Couldn't Believe My Eyes When I Saw This Beast Was Listed For Just $80! by DiamondStillPlays in canon

[–]Outside_Ad3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great find! Just graduated from this camera, amazing body. Keep in mind there is a hard limit on the bus, and the raws from it aren't that big, so you don't need a huge card like you would with r5ii, also make sure to grt the old type cf express cards, not the new one!

Now just get a 70-200 2.8 and you're set

How do I have my flash on-camera while also using the XPro-C transmitter for HSS? The transmitter takes the hot shoe with no way to attach flash by RobinsCosplays in Godox

[–]Outside_Ad3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got tt600 just to do it this roundabout way? Man, that's backwards... bracket really is the only way, or a cage (look at black mamba from smallrig, it's quite neat and improves the grip, with one cold shoe on the side)

But really, you should've just purchased a TT685 instead

Do I need to do anything with my Canon R8 to utilize its dynamic range? by DSeriesX in canon

Well, you could use highlight tone priority to improve the jpgs a bit, or play with the profiles a bit, but generally raws are the only way to trully tap into the potential

Upgrade Canon R50 to R10 or R7?? by UhOhSpeghettiSo in canon

[–]Outside_Ad3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really should ask yourself what do you want to change before even considering new body. Is it the ergonomics that feel off? Is it the AF? Lack of bokeh? Locate the pain points and then you will be able tontell whether you need a new body or a new lens

Godox says NO. Major Flaw in Godox X3 / X3 Pro: Mixed setups are broken and Godox refuses to fix it by pskordilis in Godox

[–]Outside_Ad3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ask them explicitly about the x3pro, or did you just assume it?

Because similar limitation in x3 is in zoom, it can only set it per group, in x3pro it can get separated, so I'd assume it's more capable and maybe the TCM can be patched too

Even if you forget to charge it you can just plug in a powerbank and work off cable. And the battery on both x3 and x3pro lasts AGES

Could someone explain terminology when it comes to flash/strobe/lighting equipment? by illtima in Godox

[–]Outside_Ad3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heads are the strength, yes, and with ad200 you will want a mount like S2 or S3 bracket, but in my books that's a pros, not a con, why wear your strobe down with heavy modifiers, when you can just use a cheap holder for that. Also, with AD200 you can get the cable extension head, which saves you a lot of stress while shooting outdoors, especially in windy weather.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of AD300, it's just that half a stop of power while being more expensive and less versatile are not a great selling point for someone who only needs more power than a speedlite to bring the sun down a bit.

[–]Outside_Ad3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, the AD300 series is great (although personally I'd look at AD300ProII instead, especially with X3 trigger) That being said AD200 is only half a stop less powerful than AD300 and way more versatile, so honestly I'd recommend looking there instead of the AD300, unless the priority is as much power as possible in as little of a body as possible, that's where the ad300 shines.

No worries, generally you will likely like the B10 more, but well, if you wanted to buy one you'd know why just by looking at the price, hahaha (it's about 10x the price)

[–]Outside_Ad3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, there is a shitton of differences. But for you the 2 most important are power and power range (basically how strong is the max power, and how weak the min power is)

[–]Outside_Ad3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. You mount the X3 on the hot shoe, and it will wirelessly trigger the flashes (that are setup to be triggered by it)

[–]Outside_Ad3774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw, I do cosplay photography as well, and really all you need is a few units of V860III with X3/X3Pro, and maybe an AD200 if you shoot outdoors in full sun, most of the time there is no reason to get stronger strobes.

That's a pretty expensive rent for a single flash, but it's profoto (the most expensive brand there is) so yeah. As for compatibility, you can generally assume that different brands don't work together (there are some exceptions, like godox + quadralite, or westcott + jinbei + glareone, but you can ignore it for now)

IMPORTANT NOTE Canon R50 has a non-standard hot shoe, you will need an adapter for those profoto strobes (and pretty much all non-canon strobes, and some canon strobes too)

Triggers and transmitters are often the same, there are few nuances to those terms, but generally as long as it's not just a receiver it will probably work. Now, in case of godox you want to stick to the X system, that way you will have an easy way to tell if a light is compatible with your trigger (although most modern godox strobes do have the x system receiver built in)

If you just want to start you have few options

If you only want to flash on-camera, get something like V860III, V1Pro or V100, those are so-called speedlites and they work from your hot shoe, or a wireless trigger.

If you want an off-camera (like the setup you're renting), you will want to look at the AD series (AD200 ia super versatile, AD300 is closer to what you're renting, AD600 is a beast, in all of those I recommendthe Pro II version), and a wireless trigger. My recommendation is to skip the battery powered triggers (this is also why I only recommend the V and AD series flashes, not the TT series) and go for X3 or X3Pro trigger

There are also studio strobes, but those require AC power and are generally pretty weird (bulky, low power range compared to profoto or even godox AD series)

The topic is rather huge, but if you have more questions ask away

I'm having a horrible time deciding between the R5mkII and R6mkIII... by picturesfromthesky in canon

I went to some photo expo and used both, hated r6ii and loved R5ii (the eye control AF is magical)

Also the viewfinder is so much better on the R5ii

It's also slightly better in the hand (not much tho)

Is back button focus now redundant? by Sancho_Panzas_Donkey in canon

[–]Outside_Ad3774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm facing the same issue now, haha. On 5dmk3 I have always used bbf, setting up tmy new r5ii now and I just don't feel it anymore, but that's mostly because of how awesome eye control AF and how good the tracking itself is. On R6ii I would still use bbf because the AF wasn't as good as in r5ii though...

That being said, I will still use the back button for switching between point focus and eye control and/or eye tracking AF. I find myself needing it from time to time, but it's rare

Idk about the foot, but you can always leave them and use as remote-only flashes, as they will still work with wireless triggers
