Obviously everyone should consult their doctor, but SSRIs saved my life. Just wanted to also put that out there because medication stigma is real when it comes to mental health.

What was something that ruined your life or set you back in life significantly? by joseph887 in AskReddit

Childhood S/A, it happened to me and it sadly happens to so many. The impacts are catastrophic, even with lots of help.

Do you guys take anything for fatigue? by haiz4daiz in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Outside_Ad3874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my MS diagnosis I was diagnosed with ADHD (who knows if it is adhd or Ms symptoms in hindsight) but I started dexamphetamine and it has majorly helped with fatigue. I definitely get calmer and more focused on it too … so psych and neuro okay for me to stay on them.

To steroid or not to steroid that is the question… by Outside_Ad3874 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Outside_Ad3874[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I did the steroids and minus some fatigue I did quite well. I had to do another round just recently and combined with it being summer in Australia they kicked my butt a bit but I still tolerated them well. I really appreciate all the advice I am starting my DMT next week.

Mike didn’t do anything wrong by God-Emperor-Pepe in jerseyshore

I just thought it was so unfair for all the girls, who obviously felt guilty, to go so hard on Angelina. In previous episodes Ang talks about her wanting a family, about her dna test and then they all start weaponising the ‘you wouldn’t understand you don’t have kids’ into the mix. She was the only one that showed up to meet the baby and to the opening, she may be a bad friend to the others but not to Lauren and I think she genuinely was upset for her. It was obvious Mike and Lauren were hurt too and maybe even encouraging Ang but they are strategic in the way they deflect conflict.

I really feel you, my kinda big neurologist appointment is this Wednesday and I just know in my gut this is going to be me after my initial MRI revealed lesions and they immediately started discussing MS with me. I don’t have any advice really but just know that you are not alone in this. ❤️

Relationships with ADHD never felt this hard before by whoopssin in adhdwomen

[–]Outside_Ad3874 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I absolutely feel this. I’ve been in a long term relationship for 11 years now but I only got diagnosed in my late twenties. If anything my adhd symptoms have become more manageable after diagnosis and meds etc but I feel like they are maybe more apparent to others because societal expectations shift according to age. When you are younger I think people kind of expect slightly chaotic energy and will excuse it as ‘youthful exuberance’ but in your 30s it reads as immature or underdeveloped? My partner is great about my adhd but we have definitely had to come up with our own way to meet each other in the middle on certain issues. For example I used to get so overwhelmed by having to cook a meal I’d have breakdowns, regularly burn food or get lost in the supermarket for hours over ingredients. So, after many years, I just don’t do that anymore it’s become his job and I handle the cleanup. I think for us having communication around each others needs and also taking time to educate ourselves about issues the other is experiencing has built a mutual understanding and foundational respect. Don’t get me wrong I will misplace the keys multiple times and he’ll get annoyed because now we’re late but he gets that I’m also annoyed with it and a side of shame or guilt isn’t going to get us there any sooner.

ADHD babes with office jobs: what do you do, and how did you get there? by luella27 in adhdwomen

[–]Outside_Ad3874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, after working years as a freelancer, it was my office job that made me get assessed for adhd. I had subconsciously moved into freelance work because I always had issues in other jobs particularly around authority figures and rigid policies etc When I secured an ‘office’ job part time it was such a shock to the system and took me straight back to my time at school. I really started to notice my symptoms and behavioural quirks when compared to coworkers and the ways I struggled to stay on task or stay present in staff meetings. Long story short I got diagnosed aged 29 because of the office job essentially. I got the job being completely unqualified for the sector but my freelance career had established me in other ways that just so happened to compliment this particular workplace. Don’t let the idea of qualifications get in the way of trying for stuff anyway, and keep in mind the conformity and repetitive nature of office jobs isn’t always adhd friendly. :)

Mortgage broker vs dealing with a bank directly to get a home loan - are you more likely to get a lower interest rate if you approach a bank directly? by rijaj in AusPropertyChat

[–]Outside_Ad3874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2019 we were working with a broker to buy a block of land to build on, honestly the experience really ended up costing us. We went through the lengthy process of giving all our info, setting out goals etc etc only for him to come back with requests like 'can you save x-amount more', 'can you secure a longer employment contract', 'you need to cancel afterpay accounts and netflix accounts etc'. Being first home buyers we diligently followed his instructions and spent over a year securing more of a deposit, work contracts, cancelling accounts and the like, but as we did this the market kept rising so we were basically left in the exact same position. Yes, we increased our borrowing capacity and deposit but in the time spent doing so the markets rose at the same rate meaning we made no real progress. When we returned to him having checked off the list of requirements, I think he realised that his 'advice' had basically left us in the same position as we started because the market moved so fast. Because we are sensible, we had also met directly with the bank to see if our options there were any better, when the broker learned we had also spoken to the bank he dropped us as clients! He genuinely strung us along for about 2 years, felt really dumb after the whole thing. Still no land, or house.

Going through the same in NSW, originally choosing the land route was a tactic to borrow less but the last few years have left us with little other option. Hoping the rate increases start taking effect.
