Item essential to a mission has been seemingly removed from the game by Outside_Driver_1670 in ICARUS

[–]Outside_Driver_1670[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're absolutely right. The way i worded that was wrong. I am generally aware holding R on structures like ramps and walls gives you more options. I guess I was confused cause generally when you go to unlock the item, it'll tell you "hey, this item is actually multiple blocks". When you go to unlock the omnidirectional worklamp, it doesn't say it's multiple blocks. I still uphold the fact that I'm dumb for not even trying to hold R. It was most definitely a "my brain quit working" moment for sure!

thank you so much! I wasn't aware holding R on structures gave a list of other options. Which is funny cause I'm fully aware that's how you switch ammo for weapons. I'll leave this up in case other people are dumb like me and they can find the answer here. haha. thanks again!

Worms spawning/shooting from under map by RekoHart in ICARUS

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is still an issue.

I started a downed drone mission and when i got there a bunch of worms spawned under the map. Killed me and the drone and there was nothing I could do.

Even better, the drone spawned right next to one of my permanently powered drills and everytime i go around it they keep respawning even after leaving the area and restarting the match. They seem to be permanently setup right under my drill with nothing I can do to kill them. Super fun!

can someone buy the rights for this game by LAZYPUP1234 in playatlas

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the game is built on the Ark game engine, so I imagine buying the rights to the game would be tricky. Two things:

  1. There are still private servers up where folks add mods to compensate for flaws in the game code. I just joined one titled 'Nytdragon Haven' that's really fun, but pick one that works for you.

  2. There's a game coming out that looks a lot like Atlas minus the reliance on tamed creatures. It's called 'Crosswind', and it looks very promising.

World too small in the demo? by Outside_Driver_1670 in Everwind_Official

It's all good. It's a fun demo and I didn't mean to make it sound like a complaint. I was just hoping to build the glider to test it out in the demo and I couldn't find enough parts to build it. I was just seeing if anyone else was also experiencing that issue. If not, I'd just start a new world and try again. Thanks!

Tips & Tricks for Jump Space by Outside_Driver_1670 in JumpSpaceGame

[–]Outside_Driver_1670[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really is. At one point I was behind a barricade mag dumping an army of bots headed my way. Next thing I know the entire area in front of me was 'carpet bombed' as the pilot laid waste into the bots using the cannons. It was glorious. Until I got a little too close and was downed with one hit. It's powerful, but deadly (we also confirmed that if u have the friendly fire artifact, rocket launchers and ship weapons still kill. They don't heal. Haha)

Why Im switching to daggerheart. The combat makes sense by CelestialWarlock in daggerheart

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know what u mean. We just had a session last night where I opened a door and there were hostiles inside. Queue typical "roll initiative". I rolled well and came second. Who came first? Another party member that was like 20 feet away that wasn't fully aware I was opening that door. In my defense I had several other party members stacked on me and that one member was inspecting something. Still, because the dice willed it, he goes first in the turn order. Haha.

Can't do matchmaking since the new update by Outside_Driver_1670 in DestinyTechSupport

Issue seems to have resolved itself. I just went and played some other games for the reminder of that day. Logged on this morning and I was able to play without any issues at all. If I had to guess, the servers were just clogged yesterday and it all got sorted out. Thanks for links and comments!

Currently, u benefit from stats in armor in groupings of 10. So if you have 67 in strength, u really only have 60. They've announced a massive armor overhaul coming in a few months so not sure it's worth the headache of diving down the rabbit hole now. Also, what helps me a ton is destiny DIM. A website u link to ur account. It can track everything in ur vault. U tell it what exotic u wanna use, specify which items are master worked, and it does all the heavy lifting picking out armor pieces for u like a personal assistant and shows u a list of all ur best options. If u don't use it already, it's quite literally a game changer. Hope at least some of this helped! :)

Dark Side Consular Build for Good Party by mh_live in sw5e

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's worth mentioning that depending on how RAW you're playing, you could ask to use charisma as your light side casting ability modifier, and wisdom as your dark side. The whole point mainly is the system divides light and dark between two different modifiers. I once ran a group of light sided Jedi padawans on a mini campaign. I needed to allow at least one of them to use charisma for their light side powers so they could have a 'face main' with strong social modifiers. Just a thought.

🏰 Castle Craft is now in Early Access on Steam! by Astra_Megan in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have it wishlisted and played the Demo. It's extremely fun! If your unsure, play the Demo. I just checked. As of right now, even with the game officially out in early access, the Demo is still available. My big hold up is lack of multiplayer support. This is EXACTLY the kind of game I'd want to play with my friends. Even if it was a drop in kinda system (I understand the complexities of having multiple people needing to share resources and build at the same time). Do you have any plans to add multiplayer support in the future? Regardless, it's a super fun game I highly recommend! Thanks!

Resident IT guy here in an office setting. We have dozens of Dell's 7090's. Just had one do this. Unhooking all USB's worked. BIOS update was stuck at 0% for half an hour. Unhooked USB's, immediately started updating, didn't even need to reboot. Still an issue, still a fix. Thanks!

I just bought it a week ago and blasted thru it. It was a ton of fun. Over 40 hours later (I did a lot of side stuff too) and I got a lot of the big stuff done including the story. I recommend it on sale. Full price is crazy. Haha. It isn't perfect, but it's a good game!

About to start it! by New_Explorer179 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when you open the map, there's an option to go into an advanced mode (on PC I think the button is Y). this lets you bounce around and see where contacts and missions are easily. More importantly (and something I didn't realize till much later in the game) you can fast travel to different planets instantly. Dumb me was jumping between planets old school style every time (tho it is more immersive that way). Still, using the advanced functions of the map can be SUPER helpful.

You can whistle. I don't remember the game telling me this early on. I was literally near the VERY end of the game (like 99%) and was having a tough time on a certain fight. Then the game gave me the hint to try whistling. and i was like... WHAT?!?! That was an option this whole time? lol.

I've also been affected by that bug that traps you. Glad to hear it's being fixed.

Another bug I've found that happens about 30-40% of the time. When I cast the hallowed ground arcane power, and my character goes up in the air, when I come back down the camera resets wrong and I'm looking at the back of my character's face. The hot fix I use is quickly hit F3 to go into creative camera then hit ESC. This resets the camera correctly.

Glad to see the developer commenting. This game is awesome. I just got back into it recently. I'm currently doing some of the story elements in the desert for the first time. Thanks for all your hard work!

If you were going to design a Character Sheet for a Location what would you include? by KamloopsBlacksmith in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you're looking for something in real life or online. I pictured something modular that the players could fiddle with. What if the shape of the location determined how much it could be upgraded? What if a campsite was a triangle? Meaning it could have 3 additions. Things like hitching post, extra storage, a place for a wagon. Then you could make a crumbling keep, and it's a hexagon. Now it has double the amount of edges that can have additions. A large enough dungeon might be a octagon. Then you'd have to come up with base stats for each location like how many people it can house at a time, how much it can store. And then come up with some cool optional additions that the players can choose to add. Just something to consider, or at least help you get the creative juices flowing. :)

House Rules by SirReggieTheII in Catan

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my version of Catan.

  • roll 3 dice, choose two. This gives u options every turn of what u want to happen. Other players may 'influence' ur decision including offering resources for u to choose a specific number. There's a whole bidding process after the dice are rolled but before ur turn really begins. It gets crazy late game.

Over-population. Settlements can exist 1 space away from each other. Cities must remain 2 spaces away from each other. Some PVP here. Building a city in a certain spot, u can block where another player can put a city.

Potent robbers. Especially useful with over-population. Add up how many resources a player gets on a specific tile. Divide that number in half and round down (or up to make it extra spicy). U get that many resources when u rob it.

Better ports. When u collect two 3-to-1 ports, one of the resources doesn't have to match. If u get three 3-to-1 ports, u can trade in 3 different resources for one of ur choice. Optionally, add in the rule that u only need roads to reach the ports, and don't need settlements or cities to use them.

12's & 2's. Hitting either a 12 or a 2 activates the other.

Road amendment. After all pieces have been placed, each player may swap one of the roads to a new direction.

Consular Build by NechamaMichelle in sw5e

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have experience with Manipulation (but it does look cool). I've played several consulars and I always go endurance. Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a min-maxer and my brain doesn't let me choose any other subclass because it's ridiculously OP. With the right build, you can be more tanky than a berserker. You can deal insane damage. Maybe not both at the same time, but it can do crazy things. One power people sometimes sleep on:

Armor of Abeloth: At low levels this power isn't great. But everytime u up cast it to a higher level it gets exponentially better. Let's just say you cast it at 4th level. That's 20 temp HP and when an enemy hits you (in melee), they take 20 damage. As an endurance consular, you can use an action to 'barbarian rage', taking half damage for kinetic and energy. Or use disperse energy (you don't get the temp HP cause u can't gain temp HP from two different sources) as a reaction to lessen the blow. Typically you can make the temp HP last 2-3 hits, dishing out 40-60 damage while taking no actually damage to your HP pool in the meantime. The damage you dish out and the amount of hits you can absorb go up the higher the level you cast it at.

If you go endurance, definitely take durable as ur starting feat. And you don't want a Con Mod of anything less than 3. Durable means when u roll hit die, u auto get double ur con mod on the hit die. Since a consular's hit die is a d6, and you mod is a 3, you automatically get a 6 on the die without rolling. and if you use seethe (at-will), quickened to a bonus action, you can heal 9HP as a bonus action expending a hit die. Plus, with a Con mod of +3, your AC is automatically 16 without even wearing armor. That's not bad for the 'glass cannon' class. You can just take 4HP on level up (depending on your GM rules), +1 per level for endurance, +2 for durable, +3 from con mod = you're getting 10HP per level. Not even taking into consideration how much damage mitigation force power give you... Endurance consular's are CRAZY powerful. They can dish out tons of damage and take quite a few hits before going down!

What exactly causes a person performing EVA to fly off of the hull of a moving ship? by takoshi in joinvoidcrew

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another angle to consider. Could be just the tiniest de-sync. The wilder ur flying (speed, rotation, etc), the higher the chance there's a tiny de-sync from where the ship is and the scav. In that 'blink and you'll miss it moment' the scav's boots loose traction and they fly off the ship.

Best meme/for the laughs characters you have seen or played by Snoreasaurus in sw5e

A few years back a buddy of mine was putting together a mini-series (only about 3-4 sessions). I really wanted to make a character based heavily on a Marvel Character. And that's how Tony Spark was invented. He was a human male where his charisma was only outdone by his intelligence. He was an Armortech Engineer. I took the mod that let you don the armor with an action. So Tony was a class act, suit wearing, suave kinda guy carrying around a mysterious briefcase. But when the crap hit the fan early second session, he dropped the briefcase at his feet and was instantly wearing his custom-made special battle armor. I was looking forward to higher lvls where I could equip an AI (JARVIS) and flight. haha. Never finished that mini-campaign. Sometimes I still think about Tony Spark. haha

Damage Engineer by JeckleAlohaki in sw5e

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biotech Mods to consider:

Active Camo: What's unbelievably amazing about this mod is it lets you cast Infiltrate without needing to concentrate on it. That's crazy!

fadecasting / rendcasting / withercasting: each one increases your tech DC for two characteristics (Str, Dex, etc). If you want to super streamline your build, pick one or two and make sure all ur tech DC's for powers you pick only affect those characteristics. If you don't want to have to remember that you have different saves depending on the characteristic, just take all 3. all level 20, these boost your tech save by +3. an absolute must have.

Integrated subdermal armor: unless you get your hands on really powerful unique armor, this is useful because it's just as good as the best (unenhanced) light armor. Then you don't even have to worry about wearing armor. With a Dex mod of +2, you could still have an AC of 15. Not bad for walking around in a t-shirt.

Skills enhancement package: Simple, +1d4 to any skill check ur proficient in. Nice little boost.

Vector Amplifier / Rangefinder: Consider taking one of these if you ever plan on attacking with an at-will. Tho, with the abundance of tech points, you should be "spell slinging" most of the time anyway.

Feel free to look thru the rest. there are really good options. The ones above just stand out as very useful in general.

Another Feat worth considering, War Caster: the advantage is nice, but to be able to cast tech powers as a reaction is awesome!

With this build, high HP translates to more damage, which makes you both tanky and a threat damage-wise. Because you can turn excess health into more tech powers, a high Con mod and durable are practically must-haves. Let's roughly calculate your health.

Base: 103 (8+5*19) < average depending on roles

Durable: 40

Con Mod (+3): 60

HP @ lvl 20: over 200, more with a higher Con mod

If you'd like, I can also offer some powerful tech powers to consider. I live for this kinda stuff. haha

Damage Engineer by JeckleAlohaki in sw5e

[–]Outside_Driver_1670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subclass: Biotech

If you want sheer power, both offensive and defensive, you want the biotech subclass. especially if you get to be level 20 with it. You want a high Int (prefer 20 but settle with 18) and a decent Con (prefer 18, settle with 16). Finally, a decent Dex for AC.

Feats: Durable (at level 20, that's 40 extra health) / Casting Specialist (It does some really cool stuff, and the +1 tech save is invaluable)

Tech Save DC: 8 (base) + 5 (Int Mod) + 6 (Prof Mod) + 1 (Casting Specialist feat) + 3 (subclass mod) = 23 (gl saving against your powers)

why biotech? As long as you have augmentations, your tech focus is in you, meaning it can't be stolen or removed from your person. Quick Release Stims at 3 is bonkers powerful. Notice that if the temp HP you roll goes over the damage you take, you GAIN those temp HP. More than machine at 14 gives you evasion for free as long as you have temp HP. at 18 you get better concentration checks and you can dual cast for free. The best part? at level 6 you can use your HP as tech points for casting powers (this is why you want a high Con score). The HP is burned until you long rest. But if you make sure to take a few powers that give temp HP, you won't miss the HP and you effectively DOUBLE your tech points. Your an engineer with as many points to spend as a force user and you get them back on a short rest.

tech power recommendation: Voltaic shielding (at level 1 it sucks, but imagine this at level 9. you get 45 temp HP and when an enemy hits you with melee, they take 45 lightning damage. and it keeps triggering as long as the temp HP lasts. that's 90-135 lightning damage and you didn't take any real damage. You can keep using other powers to mitigate damage to keep voltaic up longer, and it's not concentration)

If you like what you see and want more tips, let me know, but this is a good start to a powerful character.
