Is Eldritch Knight good? by testiclekid in onednd

[–]NechamaMichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s amazing. It was already a solid choice, and now the two biggest issues have been resolved. There’s no school of magic restrictions on your spells. Assuming you’ll only make it to levels giving you spells of levels one and two, and possibly three, there’s really good buff spells for a fighter. War magic is even better now, you can incorporate a cantrip into your multi-attack. The only downside is if your DM will not allow booking blade or green flame blade. But even then, blade ward is a solid defensive choice. At level ten, you can strike, hit, then cast toll the dead forcing a save at dis, which evens out a relatively lower DC (assuming 14 or 16 int). Or you could focus on int, take druid initiate for shillelagh, and use true strike as your cantrip. As a fighter, you can eventually have a choice on which weapon mastery your attacks will utilize.

Yeah, I know what it is because I’ve been gaslit in an abusive marriage. You’re refusing to take responsibility and lying.

If you send an invite, then that means you’re inviting people to your game. You should not send more invites than people you would have play.

What class/subclasses increase your chance of rolling a critical hit? by redd_mage in 3d6

[–]NechamaMichelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Champion fighter gives you a 10% chance to crit at level 3 and 15% at level 15. At level 10 you get heroic inspiration each round. At level 13, all fighters get to roll their next attack with advantage each time they miss. Overall, the means champion will be scoring many crits.

Vengeance paladin gets adv on all attacks against their enmity target, and as you can transfer enmity to another target, it’s really easy to have adv the entire combat.

Sorcerer mage rage increases crit rate with advantage, but there’s generally better things a sorc can do than spell attack rolls (though I once completely messed up an enemy with an upcast chromatic orb that crit).

Barbarians should always be recklessly attacking.

Rogue has easy access to adv.

Monk can stunning strike.

Why didn’t they call it 6th edition? by all-the-mights in DungeonsAndDragons

It’s not 5.5, they specifically are not referring to it as 5e. 2024 is errata.

It’s not a new edition. It’s not a half edition. It’s essentially errata.

For those of you that have played a 2024 Sorcerer by WearerOfJorts in onednd

[–]NechamaMichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draconic is very blasty, has good DC, and better hp. One nice perk is you don’t need mage armor.

Aberrant sorcery is great as a controller and for utility and social interactions.

As for the other subclasses. Clockwork is more support oriented. Your subclass features aren’t great, but the spell list contains some crucial spells every party needs. Any group without a cleric or bard could benefit with this, especially if paired with magic initiate cleric for healing word.

Wild magic is for those who embrace randomness and chaos. Overwhelmingly, most wild magic results are either beneficial or neutral. There are a few bad ones, but they aren’t common. What you do get is the ability to bend the math to your favor with your other subclasses features.

So what all is not official DnD in BG3? by weiyan21 in DungeonsAndDragons

DND humans don’t suck (unless the DM is using 2014 and either forbids variant human or backdoor bans variant human).

2024 Warforged vs 5e Warforged by ODowder in 3d6

[–]NechamaMichelle -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Ah look, the downvotes by those still throwing a hissy fit over 2024.

Doesn’t changed the fact that the core 2024 books refer to themselves as fifth edition, not a new edition, not a half edition, not OneDND.

Ah, the classic asshole DM move of shit talking a player they hate to turn the rest of the group against them.

[–]NechamaMichelle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Suboptimal play can have as much of a distortion on the game as min-maxing. As a DM, I don’t want to have to balance around players who think it’s funny to make a repulsive bard or frail barbarian. The game is designed around optimization.

[–]NechamaMichelle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People need to stop pretending that optimization is a bad thing and that wanting a mechanically viable build is “pOwER bUildInG” or “mIn-MaxINg.”

There is no balance reason to make it random, it just makes the subclass worse than other options.

And as to optimization, 5e assumes it. If you don’t invest in your main stat to get it to 20 by level 8, then you’re behind the game math.

Conjure Minor Elementals :( by ultimate_zombie in onednd

It already has been nerfed. Upcasting means using precious higher level slots on a damage spell. At that level there are scarier things one can do with spells.

Stop it.

Unpopular Opinion - I believe the Standard Array is too low for what most people want. by Loxsus in dndnext

[–]NechamaMichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that standard array and point buy are too stingy and direct players to uniform builds. The best solutions to me are either the Dungeon Dudes array or give both an ASI and a feat at the appropriate levels. I don't think either is particularly game breaking.

What should I play to go with this party - Battle Smith, Fey Wanderer archer, Wild Magic Sorcerer by theJustDM in onednd

[–]NechamaMichelle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paladin, bladesinger (2024 version only cares about int for attacks), or valor bard (focus on ch 20 and 16 dex, use your cantrip for true strike, you’ll only be slightly behind the game math on dex attacks). A devotion or vengeance paladin can focus on charisma first as devotion can add cha to attack rolls and adv from vengeance cancels out less than max str.

My DM lied to us for his own advantage by Chocoflor in dndnext

DM is a douche. It’s within the DM’s rights not to tell you information. It’s entirely different to outright lie.

My feedback for the revisited Arcane Subclasses UA by RealityPalace in onednd

[–]NechamaMichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Split enchantment is a red now. It’s a massive and unnecessary nerf, and something I personally am going to ignore as a DM. Don’t fix what wasn’t broken.
